I am a longtime fan of Harry Connick Jr., and was eager to hear this new CD. Some of the songs-'All the Way', Mona Lisa','Who Can I Turn To'-remind me of Sinatra and his days with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. A lush, beautiful background for a beautiful voice.. I loved these! But I was disappointed in a few selections.. In "Your Song' I felt as those Mr. Connick's voice was being stretched a little too far.. I don't think he was made for this genre.. All in all, I did enjoy this album very much but would prefer Mr. Connick to stick to what he does best.. Romantic classics, or great jazz......
Diane Birch mixes soul, jazz, gospel, and a touch of new in this album. I was not familiar with her work before, but I am now a fan.. Brings back the 60's, some Aretha, and a lot of fresh takes on old material.. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good listen...
