A Classic Movie with a Superior Prsentation

This movie is a classic on so many levels, but since most people already have their opinion, I will focus on the 3D presentation. This conversion has been done very well. Throughout there is a great sense of depth and even with darkened glasses the colors seem spot on. I only noticed one scene (at the gas station) where any 3D issues were glaringly obvious: the moon had some ghosting. Overall, highly recommended.

Awesome Movie

This movie is one of my favorite sci-fi movies. It has a great story which has many connections to the series it is based on. It has its suspense, action, and drama down to a science. Highly Recommended.

Good Streaming Box

I use it in...:Small home
I bought this primarily to stream my iTunes content which this does wonderfully. It is easy to set up and use. Netflix also works well with this as well. The only real downside to this box is that some updates can take an extremely long time to download and install. Overall, recommended.

I had an opportunity for a free calibration from Best Buy's Geek Squad. I had already tweaked the settings on my television and it looked pretty good to me. However, it still is not the same as a professional calibration, and since the service was free, I decided to give it a try. So after spending nearly an hour on hold, I got an appointment for a week later. The day before the appointment they call to confirm. Five minutes later they call to confirm again (why they called the second time is anyone's guess), both times assuring me that they will call when they are on their way the next day. The next day, they show up during the four hour window unannounced, which did not bother me too much. The agents seemed friendly enough, but then they walk over to my $850 television, and the first thing they do is shock it. I heard the bolt from several feet away! Talk about unnerving. While they navigated the TV service menu they explained what they were doing and put their fingers on the TV screen to point out exactly what they were talking about. My TV did not have the 200 hours break-in time that that they suggested, so they strongly encouraged me not get it calibrated until it does. Fair enough, but then the agent told me that when I reschedule I should call him directly, because he is the only agent with the newer, advanced, equipment that can make the display look better than the other Geek Squad agents. Seems a bit inconsistent for Best Buy to have some agents with better training and equipment than others. This means whenever you make an appointment for a calibration with Best Buy you are flipping a coin for the type of quality you will get. After they left I cleaned off the many fingerprints they had left on my screen. I do not think that I will reschedule the appointment, the TV looks fine to me with the settings I have already adjusted it with. It just does not seem worth the trouble.
What's great about it: Agents can explain things pretty simply for newbies
What's not so great: Agents were not very careful
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I honestly do not know what all the bad reviews for this move were for. I personally liked it more than the original. In the first one the relationship between the main human characters felt forced, and did no flow with the rest of the movie. In contrast, the relationship between the human characters in this added humor to the movie. But, of course, the main reason people see this movie is for the chipmunks, and here we get a double dosage. The chipettes were well integrated and felt like a welcomed addition to the story. The humorous scenes with the chipmunks will doubtless keep kids and adults entertained, however, when they are not there and the human actors must fend for themselves, the humor begins to fall short. Overall, an entertaining movie, that may be much more bearable for parents than some other films.
What's great about it: Plenty of Chipmunk songs, Chipettes
What's not so great: The Human Actors
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great Movie but Unfortunate Blu-Ray version

I'm not going to review the movie because that information should be available all over the internet. This review is going to be concerning this version of the blu-ray which is different from the other version which was also released today because this version has a digital copy and the other version does not. Based solely on that difference, this version is not worth paying extra for.
The standard for new releases on blu-ray for at least the last 6 months has been to include a digital copy of the movie. Normally you get an Ultraviolet copy but sometimes you get both an Ultraviolet copy and a copy that can be used in itunes or windows media player. The itunes versions are clearly inferior, however, because they have extremely restrictive DRM and are restricted on what types of devices they can be played on. For example, while an ultraviolet copy can be streamed through Vudu on a blu-ray player, xbox 360, PS3, Android phone, iphone, ipad, android tablet, and other devices without even needing to be downloaded to your device - the itunes version can only be used in devices that can play itunes movies like apple TV, iphone, or ipad.
The major problem with the Lincoln blu-ray is that it defies the industry standard and ONLY has the itunes/wmp version. This was a big disappointment when I got home and opened the package. If this version hadn't cost more money than the other version then I wouldn't complain because there's no reason to look a gift horse in the mouth, but this was NOT a free feature. Although I do realize that some people might be thinking that I should have remembered the phrase "buyer beware" the packaging was not as clear as you might think. The bar at the top of the package said "Blu-Ray + DVD + Digital Copy" and this is the same thing that all of the blu-rays in my collection that come with Ultraviolet say.

what do calibration mean

my tv has line in it and take a while to see a picture

My Picture on my television is distorted and takes a while to get a picture and when I do get a picture there are lines in the back ground
A calibration is an optimization of your television done by a professional with professional equipment (meters etc.). What you are experiencing will not be fixed by a calibration, but sounds like an issue with the TV or some connections.
