Simply AMAZING... It works when others don't.

Simply put..... this Nighthawk Netgear R7000 router is AMAZING. I wasn't really in the market to get a new router as my Linksys E4200 was working pretty good. I was dealing with dropped wifi signals and the fact that my TiVo at the far end of my house was getting 60% wireless signal. Then my friend and colleague texted me that he had purchased this router and was amazed and loved it. I then came on here to BestBuy.com and read the reviews and figured that I'd get one.
I don't regret my purchase AT ALL. I knew this router was going to be great the moment I took it out of the box. This router is HEAVY and BUILT WELL. AND.. it has THREE EXTERNAL ANTENNAS that articulate (you can put them in any position). Set up and configuration was a breeze (probably because I'm a computer repair professional, but I think the "average joe" can set it up easily because the instructions are very clear and written in ENGLISH that makes sense!
After connecting the router, I went down to the TiVo that was getting 60% and it was now getting 100% ! I thought that this must be a mistake, so I got my wifi signal tester out and sure enough, signal strength at the far end of my house where it once was 60% at best, was now between 99% and 100%. I then went outside, across the street, and was getting 86% where before I got nothing. That was amazing.
I've been using this router for about 48 hours and have not had any drops, signal loss.. in short, no problems whatsoever.
I only gave it a "good" rating on the price, because, well frankly no one likes paying $199 for a router when they can get it cheaper. This rating is only indicative of the price, not the performance, as I said, no complaints.. AT ALL.
HELPFUL HINT: I found something that I want to pass along to everyone. I needed to reboot my router this morning (unplugged) and reconnected. When it rebooted, it lost the "handshake" to the cable modem (IP Address, Gateway info, etc) and thusly, no internet access. So, I rebooted again, and nothing. So I unplugged both cable modem (Arris TM802) and router, waited, and plugged in cable modem, waited for the four green lights, then plugged in router, and waited.... and ... NOTHING. This was perplexing as this is the normal procedure (cable modem first, then router). This time I just unplugged the cable modem and left the Netgear plugged in and working. And when the cable modem came up, the Netgear successfully handshaked and all was right again. SO... if you need to reboot the Netgear, reboot it first, then reboot the cable modem second and you'll be good to go.
So... you still reading this? Get out and buy one!! :)
What's great about it: power of wifi signal, no dropouts, perfect throughput
What's not so great: none that I can see
I would recommend this to a friend!

Finally, a charger with the CORRECT connector...

Up until I purchased this Rocketfish iPhone car charging cable, I was very frustrated at all the others on the market. The problem was that all other chargers have a fatter plug that goes into the bottom of the iPhone 4S. Not a problem if you have no case, but DEFINITELY A PROBLEM when using a case because the fatter plugs won't connect properly putting excess stress and strain on the connector.
BUT... then came this Rocketfish cable with a THIN CONNECTOR end just like the true Apple cables. It slide in EFFORTLESSLY into the 30 pin connector at the bottom of the iPhone 4s and simply works EXTREMELY WELL! FINALLY... I found a cable that I will keep and that works... AND that is INEXPENSIVE.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

Nice universal remote...best of the bunch

If you're looking for a remote to control all your devices, even the devices you just purchased yesterday (because it uses the Internet to keep its database of new devices on the market accurate), then this Harmony 700 is for you. It's reasonably priced, but more importantly it is truly easy to program. Just connect it to your computer (I use a laptop since I can test it in the room where the equipment is), then go to www.myharmony.com, say yes to a simple download and then the site will walk you through the very easy setup.
The color LCD screen is nice and the remote has enough unique buttons, including the four colored buttons (red, blue, green, yellow) that are becoming more common on new remotes (including my Panasonic BluRay).
The only thing is that you need is to write down the make and model numbers on all your equipment before you start programming. I now write them down BEFORE I mount the equipment in my entertainment center (I had to pull out my BluRay in order to get to the model number on the sticker in back).
What's great about it: Easy to use, easy to setup, built well.
What's not so great: The jack where you plug the charging/USB cord on the device itself is a little fragile.
I would recommend this to a friend!

fastest wifi there is, but quirky to setup
By wase4711 from Hinsdale, Il
Ok, I wish I would have read the review above mine, before I started to setup this router. I have set up dozens of routers over the years, and consider myself a network expert.
I was baffled when I could not get this router to connect to my cable modem, even though I did everything the same exact way that I have over many network installs.
The router was online, and all lights were right, but no internet, and no access to my large home/business network.
Calling netgear on the weekend is a daunting task, since the support is obviously in another part of the world, where English is not the first language, and trying to explain what your problem is doesn't usually pan out very well..
Anyways, to make a long story short, I somehow got the wireless to work, and then the wired connections suddenly were fine as well. I think I will be trying the above posters idea next time, and try getting the router setup first, then connecting the modem!
Its super fast, giving me wireless speeds equal to my wired connection, and the distance the wireless covers with a strong signal now is incredible; we have a 3 level house, and even in the basement, 2 levels below the router, I can stream Netflix and hulu perfectly from my smart tv.
If you need range, and speed, and are willing to pay the price; jump on this bad boy now!

I'm glad I wasn't going crazy....
November 7, 2013
I'm sorry you were having those problems, but I'm sort of relieved now to find out that it wasn't just me that had to "boot backwards" as I'm now calling it. Interestingly I wonder if this is indicative of the type of cable modem service I have (and possibly you have). Optimum Online is a Cablevision internet service that uses an Arris TM802 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem. But my friend who has Verizon FIOS with their ActionTEC model modem/router does NOT have to do what we do, he boots his modem, then starts his Nighthawk and all works well. Same with my other friend who has Comcast internet service and a Motorola SB4200 cable modem.
So, I'm not sure WHY this is happening, it's just good to know it's not just me. (I was going to exchange the Nighthawk at one point, but not any more.)
