Not waterproof!
on December 2, 2016

This casing is great against protecting your phone against drops on the floor and my casing has been great against that. However, this casing is not waterproof. I found that during heavy rains, water would seep in between the plastic screen of the casing and the phone's screen itself. I would then have to disassemble the casing and dry off the inside of the plastic screen of the casing and the phone screen. When I was on the bus during the last heavy rain, I had to do that again. Only this time, I found that one side of the plastic casing was already open and so was the casing on that side of the phone itself. So until my current contract is done I'm thinking of buying a used iphone 5s and Lifeproof casing (the one reccommended by the service provider Verizon) as a temporary replacement until the current contract is completed and I am eligible for an upgrade.

Finally! A portable charger that works!

I got this as one of Best Buy's email daily deals. I had originally ordered the blue charger to match the case on my phone but I got the purple one instead. But since it charges much more than 1% at a time like previous portable chargers I had tried, I am not going to quibble about that. I can get a full charge out of this battery no matter what the current power level on my phone is. The only strange thing about it is once it's fully charged my phone and I unplug my USB cable (I use my own instead the one that came with the battery) from my phone, the blue light is shown as still charging if the other end of the cable is still plugged into the battery.
What's great about it: It charges more than 1% at a time
What's not so great: The blue light that shows as charging is still on after the phone is unplugged

works on my phone

This was a somewhat good replacement for the USB cord that came with my phone. The connectors at both ends were breaking to pieces. The connectors on this cord are sturdy and don't look like they'll break apart. However, the cord is shorter than the cord the phone came with.
What's great about it: sturdy connectors
What's not so great: cord too short

good for backup

So far, this is providing good backup to a VGA cable with an iffy signal and/or connection between the computer and the monitor. I like the shape of the end screws. That makes them easy to grasp and turn without the need of additional tools.
What's great about it: The shape of the end screws
What's not so great: don't know yet

Great on human hair
on June 8, 2012

The vacuum cleaner was bought to replace a Eureka Victory upright that the housekeeper finally succeeded in beating into the ground. This got a very good rating in Consumer Reports so that's why my stepfather and I went for it. I have a head of very long and thick hair that sheds copiously and this vacuum does very well on that. On the Eureka, I had to keep giving the brush "haircuts" after every use. I even had to pull off the end caps to take out the hair that accumulated inside those. The brush on this Hoover accumulates very little hair. It goes straight to the bag. Of course that means that the bag fills up quickly. However, when I was using the extension wands and the dusting brush to clean an overhead air vent, I found myself wishing the extension wands were a little longer.
What's great about it: Great on my human hair
What's not so great: extension wands could be a little longer

works with a converter box
on January 27, 2012
Posted by: MarySue
from Washington, DC
I was able to connect this to my "record through" converter box. Since the audio/video jacks on the Symphonic "tube" TV were already in use with the "view through" converter box, I needed an RF modulator to keep my current setup with both converter boxes. After figuring out the "quirks", I was able to record cartoons on the VCR side and play DVDs on the DVD side. The major "quirk" I found annoying was that you have to take it out of "timer standby" mode to access any other functions. Otherwise it's locks up. And the weird thing was, even though it's set to record in VCR mode, it would lock up in DVD mode! And I was annoyed that there was no manual in the box. I had to go to the Toshiba web site to print it out.
What's great about it: can be used with a converter box, good connection diagrams in the manual
What's not so great: manual wasn't included, have to take it out of "timer standby" mode to access other functions

get it when you can

This lasts longer than the regular size Canon 210 black ink cartridge. So if you go through black ink cartridges much faster than color ink cartridges this is a good buy. We go through about 2 regular 210 black ink cartridges for every regular 211 color ink cartridge. However, Best Buy mixes these cartridges with the regular 210 black ink cartridges on the shelf so it may be hard to find. So when you DO find it, get it!
What's great about it: lasts longer than regular 210 cartridge
What's not so great: often mixed with regular 210 cartridges on shelf

Just when there's no more room in you're DVD collection, Anchor Bay Entertainment will release yet another version of George A. Romero's zombie classic Dawn of the Dead. Filtering into stores just in time to cash in on the much-ballyhooed, big-budget remake, this release seems little more than a precursor to Anchor Bay's heavily touted three-disc Special Edition -- set for release in the fall of 2004. Mastered in the high-definition Divimax process and letterboxed at the correct theatrical exhibition aspect ratio of 1.85:1 (previous releases were often matted and released in 1.66:1), the image as presented on this release is the best that Dawn of the Dead has ever looked on home video. In addition to the corrected aspect ratio, the remarkably clean image sports solid, vibrant colors, even skin tones (for the living), and no evidence of edge-enhancement. As for audio, Anchor Bay has seen fit to include a multitude of choices that should please both purists and those looking to push the limits of their home theater systems. In addition to an effective mix in the original Mono, mixes in DTS, Dolby Digital 5.1, and Dolby Digital Surround expand the terror by surrounding viewers with the blood-chilling moans of the undead. Of course, the audio feature that most viewers will jump for is the commentary track, featuring director Romero, makeup effects artist Tom Savini, and assistant director Chris Romero -- and moderated by Perry Martin. It's great to hear Romero comment on the origins of the story and the events that set the sequel into motion, and the enthusiasm of Savini when Romero told him to start thinking of various inventive ways to kill people is palpable. With virtually no dead air, the commentary is both entertaining and informative. Outside of the commentary track, the extras are fairly standard -- a seeming warm-up for the massive Special Edition that lies ahead. A pair of theatrical trailers are in top condition, as are a trio of television spots -- and with no less than nine radio spots, fans will no doubt get the gist of the advertising campaign that ushered audiences into theaters. A poster and advertising gallery offers various posters, newspaper clippings, and black-and-white stills for the film, and a deeply informative biography explores Romero's motivations as a filmmaker while scrutinizing his macabre body of work. Rounding things out is a somewhat disappointing preview of the upcoming comic-book adaptation. Overall, you have a pretty tantalizing release that would be a great addition to the old DVD collection -- until that massive Special Edition blows this one out of the water, that is.

Great for nostalgia value

I had a 10% off coupon in hand and when I saw this on the shelf, I bought it because I had seen documentaries about George Romero and when clips of this movie were shown, it showed that it was in Monroeville Mall. I used to live in the Pittsburgh area and Monroeville Mall was where my stepmother took us kids shopping. When I watched the movie on my computer, it was interesting to pick out the "things that aren't there any more" from the mall. That includes the clock tower and the ice rink among other things. I also liked George Romeros commentary where he said the zombie extras went to the Brown Derby to get drunk and then drove a golf cart into a marble pillar. They would also take their pictures in the photo booths and paste them on the outside of the booth. The extra features were okay but I was annoyed that the poster gallery wouldn't play on the computer. For more info on Monroeville Mall then and now, see http://www.mallofthedead.net .
What's great about it: cool zombie movie!
What's not so great: poster gallery won't play on a computer

Works good so far

The best part about this surge protector is that it has indicator lights so you know when it's on. The old power strip that this was replacing didn't have that and it's signal was weak. So far that hasn't been a problem with this surge protector. The power cord could be longer but so far it's working pretty good. I doubt we'll need the equipment protection guarentee that Dynex provides with their surge protectors.
What's great about it: It has indicator lights.
What's not so great: The power cord could be longer.

good for what it does

I am using these to connect multiple digital converter boxes to TVs and VCRs. For that purpose these work fine. You connect the antenna to one end and the other end to the converter boxes. The same could work for a VCR. My only gripe is that the connectors required the use of screw on cables. The connectors were too thick for the push on cables that came with the converter boxes. I am finding that finding the right combination of connections to multiple converter boxes and a TV and VCR vary from TV to TV.
What's great about it: screw on cables fit securely
What's not so great: connectors too thick for push on cables

Keep your compatible USB-enabled device charged and ready for use with this Dynex™ DX-R22 external lithium-ion battery that features a 2200 mAh capacity for reliable on-the-go power. A 6" micro USB charge/sync cable provides simple connectivity.

Is the battery itself rechargeable or does it just have a limited charging life and then it's thrown away?

Yes, just plug the battery into your wall charger or your computer using the supplied cable. That's what I do and I use my own cable to attach the battery to my phone to charge that since the supplied cable doesn't fit my phone.

How can you tell if it has been fully charged?

If you mean the battery itself, the light changes from red to green. If you mean the device you are using the battery to charge, then just check the power level on the device.
