A Dream Come True For Old School C.O.C Fans

Corrosion Of Conformity is a band thats been through many style changes over the years. In the 80s they were a punk band and released their greatest material: Eye For An Eye (1983) ,6 Songs With Mike Singing EP (1985), Animosity (1985), and Technocracy (1987). Then in the 90s they changed their sound to a more bluesy Metallica meets Black Sabbath sound and found the singer who would appear on most of the COC albums Pepper Keenan. But recently Hes become the guitarist for the band "Down". So members Mike Dean, Woody Weatherman, and Reed Mullin regrouped (lineup from animosity and 6 songs) to release the new self titled album. I love it. Mikes still got his voice, and the music is a combined sound of COCs early work and the sound they picked up in the 90s. My favorite song off the album is "Your Tommorow". Other cool songs featuring "Psychic Vampire and"The Moneychangers< and "Leeches plus many more. Get this album.
What's great about it: Its a reunion of the lineup from the Animosity album (1985)
What's not so great: Not a thing

Napalm Death Is Back And Angrier Than Ever!!!

Ive been a ND fan for years. I used to play Harmony Corruption and Utopia Banished on My walkman until the cassettes wore out. I believe this is their 15th album. And with every release the've made over the years, they never disappoint. In this new album Utilitarian the tradition carries on. State of the art heavy grindcore metal. I like on this album frontman Barney Greenway sings a little bit more than weve heard before as well as guitarist Mitch Harris throwing in some vocals. My favorite track on the album is Quarantined. Other cool tracks include "Leper Colony", "Analysis Paralysis", "Errors In The Signals", and "Everyday Pox" featuring John Zorn on the sax. If Youre a ND fan then I say get this CD, Youll love it.
What's great about it: Everyting

Another cool release from Metallica

After The self titled Metallica black album, the band didnt really have any good releases for awhile. But when Death Magnetic came out back in 08, I was really suprised to hear that there faster and agressive again. And with the added ep of Beyond Magnetic, its just as agressive. The four songs featured on this ep "Hate Train" "Just A Bullet Away" "Hell And Back" and "Rebel Of Babylon" were recorded during the Death Magnetic sessions but didnt make tthe album. I dont know why though, these 4 songs are excellent and Metallica hasnt put out a good ep since Garage Days Rerevisited in 87. I know the classic Metallica is best from 83-88, but the new stuff is awesome too. If Youre a Metallica fan, or just a metal fan in general Id say get this EP.
What's great about it: Its a good release for good price
What's not so great: nothing

Mastodon Rules!!!

Mastodon is one of My favorite bands. All of their albums rock, and The Hunter is no exception. They have gone through changes, but its always for the better. Im sure most of You have heard their single "Curl Of The Burl", and "Black Tongue". But You have to hear the whole album. Its really awesome. I love rockin out to such tunes as "Blasteroid", "The Octupus Has No Friends", and "Stargasm". But if I had to pick a favorite track off the album, itd be "Bedazzled Fingernails". I really love that song and play it several times a day. What else can I say? Mastodon Rocks!!!! If Youre a fan, get this album. Or even if You love Metal in general, You wont be disappointed.
What's great about it: Its a great album
What's not so great: I wish they wouldve included "Deathbound" from Adult Swim

The Murderdolls Are Back!!!
on September 30, 2010

Ive been waiting for about 7 years for a follow up album to the Murderdolls debut album "Beyond The Valley Of The Murderdolls". And finally we get "Women And Children Last". For those who dont know about the Murderdolls, they are a side band founded by Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, and the lead guitarist from Static X. Their first album was like a new age Misfits with very violent and vulgar lyrics. But in my opinion one of the top 10 albums from 2000-2010. With their second album, they dont disappoint. Its heavy and massive, and has alot of great songs. For example "My Dark Place Alone" which is the first single and video is a heavy and killer track. My personal favorite is "Bored Til Death" I play it daily. And then we have some new sounding songs like "Summertime Suicide" which I believe will become the next single. And "Drug Me To Hell" which I just love. If Youre a heavy metal and punk fan I strongly advise to check it out.
What's great about it: Its one of the best albums of the year so far.
What's not so great: The first album was a little better

Sons Of Anarchy is the best show on TV
on September 30, 2010

Ah what can I say about Sons Of Anarchy that hasnt been said. Season 1 was awesome. And Season 2 is even better. Season 2 has an awesome storyline and leaves You on the edge of Your seat. There hasnt been a good TV drama in years in My opinion. It seems reality TV has taken over, and I for one am sick of it. Sons Of Anarchy has restored My faith in TV. It has a great cast, alot of beautiful bikes, action, drama, and it leaves You hungry for more.
And in season 2 we meet Ethan Zobelle (Adam Arkin) a leader of a white supremicist movement and His right hand Man AJ Weston (Henry Rollins) who wish to take the sons down and control their town of Charming California. And Jax and Clay start to become enemies due to Jax finding out about the truth of Opies wife Donnas murder. I dont want to give away too much for those who havent seen it. But if Youve never watched SOA. I strongly recommend checking it out.
What's great about it: Everything, including the deleted scenes and other features
What's not so great: No problems here

Album Of The Year, So Far
on April 27, 2010

Dillinger is back. I wasnt too impressed with their last album "Ire Works". It seemed like they were losing their edge. I figured because it was the departure of drummer Chris Pennie, and guitarist Brian Benoit. The drummer from the previous album Gil Sharone just didnt quite get the Dillinger sound. But this new drummer Billy Rymer has brought back the sound of Chris Pennie. And the sole guitarist Ben Weinman did an extremely awesome job. Option Paralysis is a great album. Its kind of a combination between the first 2 albums "Calculating Infinity" and "Miss Machine". I like how the singer Greg Puciato can sing as well as scream. Something the original singer (Demitri) couldnt do. People refer to Dillinger as "Mathcore Metal". I call it grindcore meets punk. Theres alot of killer tunes on this album. "Farewell Mona Lisa", "Crystal Morning", and "Good Neighbor" just make You want to jump up and rock out. And the song "Widower" is unlike any Dillinger song Ive ever heard. A mix of piano and guitar, very nice. Dillinger may not be for everyone, but for the fans You wont be disappointed.
Option Paralysis has My vote for album of the year, so far.
What's great about it: One of My favorite bands in the world have made a serious comeback
What's not so great: I cant think of anything not so great about it

A very good sequal to a very good movie

Theres been alot of negative feedback with Rob Zombies Halloween, and especially part 2. But I have to disagree. Halloween 2 is a great take on the franchise, and shows us a different type of Michael Myers. Hes way more angry, and violent. The kill scenes are over the top and very brutal. The plot is very interesting as well, We get to learn more about Michaels madness. But one thing I really thought was cool, is the character development. After the events in part 1, it changes the returning characters completely. Laurie went from prude to a foul mouthed wreck. Annie doesnt ever seem to leave the house. Sherrif Bracket is way more on guard, its almost as if Hes waiting for Michael to come back. And Dr. Loomis has turned into a complete celberty sell out. In My opinion, this was an excellent film. And for those that pine for the original series, it died with Donald Pleasance (original Dr. Loomis).
What's great about it: it was very entertaining
What's not so great: I cant think of anything that wasnt good about it

Slayer is back and badder than ever
on November 25, 2009

Ever since Slayer got their original drummer back (Dave Lombardo) they got their old sound back. Christ Illusion (their previous album) was so intense I thought i was dreaming. But with World Painted Blood, its even better. I would say its their best album since Seasons In The Abyss (1990). My final thought, if Youre a Slayer fan GET THIS ALBUM!!!!!!!!, or even if You just love Metal. World Painted Blood has My vote for best album of 2009....and I have to say there has been alot of cool rock/metal albums this year.
What's great about it: Slayer is My favorite band of all time...and Im very pleased with this album
What's not so great: I cant really think of a downside
