Jeremy Brett stars as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's master detective Sherlock Holmes in this collection of eleven episodes from the British television series The Return of Sherlock Holmes, which has been given a bit of polish for its release in this DVD set. The material on The Return of Sherlock Holmes: The DVD Collection has been transferred to disc in the full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1, with the audio mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo. The dialogue is in English with optional English subtitles, but no multiple language options. Bonus materials include notes on the production of the series, commentary on some episodes from director John Madden, and an interview with series co-star Edward Hardwicke.
Anyone who follows Sherlock Holmes will have their favorite. In the movies there was Basil Rathborn and Nigel Bruce. Granada television gave us Jeremy Brett and first David Burke then a seamless, thanks to time betweenseries, Edward Hardwicke. Brett does a wonderful job as Holmes and Hardwicke plays Watson more as written than Bruce. The beginning story,"The Empty House", brings Holmes back to life after Doyle grew tired and killed of the character only to be forced by readers to bring him back. It is easy to believe Brett is Holmes and his portrayal is still years away from being affected by illness. I enjoyed this series as well as the "Adventurea' I would recommened to anyone who would like to try Holmes or who is already a fan.

What's not so great: Transfer could have been bettwr
This filter is smaller than earlier versions. On the Whirlpool I have it is located in front grill. Installation is easy, just have to bend over which is no problem, the old pulls out and the new pushes in. I did not go to all appliance stores, of the ones I did which sell Whirlpool only Best Buy had Product in stock. Direct from Whirlpool was the other option.
I wasn't sure what to expect though Cruise is better in the older roles he does now, I enjoyed this movie. The features on the disc were interesting and the ending was not that totally predictable. Too bad Morgan Freeman wasn't on longer. There were a few twists but overall I enjoyed this movie.
The movie is based on the time in Hitchcock's life during the production of "Psycho". The thing to remember is it is Hollywood, so, take most of the movie as entertainment and a tad as fact. The actors playing the main characters did a very good job especially Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock and Helen Mirren as Alma. I found it interesting to watch and thought the ending paid homage to the t.v. series with his solo sign off. Accept it as fictional biography and enjoy the characters.
This a much better adaptation than the original. The Dredd character does seem to be written a certain way since the character talks and acts the same in both novies. The story line takes place in the future according to someones vision. I will say I enjoyed it and thought it did move fairly well. Karl Urban seems to be building catalog of SCI-FI and fantasy films with The Hobbit and Star Treks in addition. I do say I enjoy his work though the character did not call for too much stretching. I was surprised I liked it.
This movie is what it is, pre CGI. I do like way more than the remake. Seems the movies from years ago are caught up in story while movies these days are caught up in FX. The story is easy to follow and parts are somewhat hard to figure, i.e. the Curtis character hitching through town and winding up in bed quick;y. That is where editing comes into play. I enjoyed when it first came out and still do. It's a watch and enjoy with no deep thought required.
Being said about the space parts, it is not as off as Moonraker. The Japanese locations were nice as was the cinetography. A nice addition is "Little Nellie", flown by it's owner. I have seen a story on it and it is as mobile as in the movie. Overall I like the Connery movies, some more than others. Can't rank this as one of the best, but it is watchable and overall enjoyable to watch, finally getting a face to Blofeld.
What's great about it: Locations, most of storyline
The main characters carry their weight well and, the effects were excellant for the time and do well over time. Newman and Mcqueen do well working off each other, and, you can easily dislike Chamberlain's character. The film does pick up dramatically after the fire alarm getting to the disaster part.
What's great about it: Overall acting and effects
What's not so great: Need Time to watch in one sitting.
