Ummm...

If this movie was not already a book, I would have given it a MUCH better rating, even though it DID have quite a few flaws that didn't have anything to do with its straying from the book. One thing that REALLY Had trouble with in the film is how hard it is for people how have NOT read the book to understand Bella and Edward's love. In the film, it's portrayed as if they are two strangers that are completely infatuated with eachother. The book was much better, so if you plan on reading the book, DEFINITELY do it first before seeing it, so that it doesn't ruin it for you. However, if you don't plan on reading it at all, go ahead and see the film, you may enjoy it much more than the fans of the book.
Also, I would only recommend this to the Hardcore Twilight Fans of the books, because for me, I HAVE to have it in my collection just because I'm such a fan of the books, regardless that I did not enjoy the film so much.
What's great about it: well...I don't know
What's not so great: Acting, Music choice, Casting, Left out major parts, horrible SFX...list goes on and on and...

Donnie (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a bright and charming high-school student who also has a dark and willfully eccentric side; he does little to mask his contempt for many of his peers and enjoys challenging the authority of the adults around him. Donnie is also visited on occasion by Frank, a monstrous six-foot rabbit that only Donnie can see who often urges him to perform dangerous and destructive pranks. Late one night, Frank leads Donnie out of his home to inform him that the world will come to an end in less than a month; moments later, the engine of a jet aircraft comes crashing through the ceiling of Donnie's room, making him think there might be something to Frank's prophesies after all. The rest of Donnie's world is only marginally less bizarre, as he finds himself dealing with his confused parents (Mary McDonnell and Holmes Osborne), his college-age sister (Maggie Gyllenhaal), his perplexed analyst (Katherine Ross), a rebellious English teacher (Drew Barrymore), a sleazy self-help expert (Patrick Swayze), and the new girl at school who is attracted by Donnie's quirks (Jena Malone). Donnie Darko was the first feature film from writer and director Richard Kelly; Drew Barrymore, who plays teacher Karen Pomeroy, also lent her support to the project as executive producer. A director's cut played in select theaters on a limited basis in the summer of 2004, featuring original music cues and trimmed scenes originally in Kelly's first cut of the film.

This is my favorite movie of all time. It's also a cult classic. I have not seen the original, but I have seen, and own, the Director's Cut. If you have not seen Donnie Darko yet, you MUST grab a copy of it. It's definitely worth every penny and more.
What's great about it: Best Film Ever

After years of waiting and anticipating, Universal has finally unleashed an official release of the Dune Extended Cut out on the DVD marketplace. Presented with the original theatrical cut (which still sports David Lynch's credit, since he took his name off of the longer cut), this dual-sided disc is a wish come true for many, even if it could have been given a bit more love from a company like Criterion, who pride themselves on their highest standard of quality. Picture and sound quality for both cuts are quite good, with the Extended Cut benefiting greatly from the new remastering. And while the extras are missing any involvement from Lynch, what is provided is a fine testament to the technical wizardry that has been lost with the advent of modern computer graphics movie magic. Four featurettes are presented focusing on the technical aspects of the film, with one more to present the extra deleted scenes and the story behind the long-rumored four-hour cut. Add in a photo gallery and a slim pseudo-tin case and viewers have a nice reason to chuck their long-dated bootlegs for this sharp package of the sci-fi classic.

I am a huge Dune fan, and for me, this was a great Film. Of course it is a David Lynch film, and I like his work, but nevertheless, he puts his own different spin on it. If you haven't seen it yet, it is definitely worth seeing, and a masterpiece to keep in your collection.
