Great Gaming experience, but not perfect!
on September 22, 2020

The Turtle Beach - Turtle Beach® Stealth™ 600 Gen 2 Wireless Gaming Headset for Xbox One and Xbox Series X - White/Silver provides a sequel to the popular first iteration of the TB Stealth Headset, but strives for even more quality, streamline, and sound experience.
I found this headset to be easy to set up, completely user-friendly and provided the much-needed fully integrated, yet adjustable gaming mic. The headphone claim they are designed for glasses wearers, however, I found the ear pads to be odd-shaped and got hot after a time. The shape of the the ear pads made it more comfortable to wear with the headband more forward on my head than I preferred, thus putting unnecessary pressure on my head which actual hurt after wearing for a long period. (this was my only complaint). I loved the sound quality, the sleek look and design, and seamless compatibility with the Xbox One system!
PROS
- Turtle Beach quality, design, and reputation
- Sound experience (Great sound through highs, mids, and lows)
- Look
- Integrated mic
- Customizable audio
- Listen Though ability or game only sound
CONS
- No Bag or Case
- Ear pads get hot
- Headband in odd place due to ear pad shape

This mouse, while corded, offers excellence feel, comfort, and responsiveness. To program your buttons, a quick download from the Logitech site gets you up and running in no time. The tactile touch and feel of the mouse is smooth on top for quick responsive buttons, and slightly matte on the sides for positive grip.
PROS
- Logitech Brand, Quality, and Innovation
- Responsive, Ergonomic, and well designed for long periods of use
- Precision specs allow for detailed work or gaming in a pinch!
- Software support for 7 programmable buttons to make your experience unique.
CONS
- Not a fan of the unbraided cord. Braided cords offer less resistance and slide better. The unbraided cord has too much grip so the cord catches at times. Not a deal breaker, but not for serious gamers or designers.
Overall, a great product for the price point!

Quality alternative to the Big Name and Cost
on August 12, 2020
Posted by: IronHorseGPS
from Pacific Beach, WA
The JLab Audio - JBuds Air Play Gaming TW Earbuds - Black offer quality audio for a fraction of the price for similarly designed big brand earbuds. Providing up to 30 hours of use via the self-contained charger/storage case, users can experience quality sound for all their gaming needs on any BlueTooth device such as a smartphone or tablet.
I found the audio to be very good, offering solid lows and quality highs. The mid's are decent but best heard if listening to music. The earbuds themselves are very similar to the pods by the Fruit company in design and shape, however, with the soft ear inserts, I found the remained in my ears better. The biggest complaint I have with these is that various sized ear inserts are not provided with this set like they are with many other JLab earbuds. I found the size to be too large for my ears and the seal was not a good as I would like. Also, I found my ears to be sore after using these for extended periods due to the size of the inserts. I believe this would be resolved with an option for smaller inserts! I was a bit confused with the need to an "Audio Burn-in" for at least 40 hours. It seems that JLAB is the only company I have heard this from to loosen the diaphragm in the earbuds.
PROS
- JLAB quality and design
- Works great with handheld device gaming or phone calls - seamlessly transitions
- Audio quality and volume are great for this price point
- Charging case with battery backup for charging on the go when you cannot plug in
- Up to 30 hours of use on a full charge of the case
- Light weight
CONS
- Audio Burn-in requirement
- No option for adjust ear insert size - One size does not fill all!
Great earbuds for a budget!

Gaming Keyboard gone Miniature
on August 3, 2020

The Razer Huntsman Mini Gaming Keyboard: 60% Keyboard - Optical Key Switches - Individually Customizable Chroma RGB Lighting - Black is a new experience in gaming keyboarding. All the basic features of other higher-end, larger keyboards, without taking up all your desk's real estate!
I found the keyboard feel to be great, similar to the brown keys on another keyboard. Fast, responsive, accurate! They claim 60% less surface, but it feels closer to 50% because there is zero bezel round the keys! The only issue I had was that the arrow keys require a function key to work...
PROS
- All the Razer goodness and quality
- Easy keys, great feel, fast, responsive
- LED lighting, programmable
- Small footprint
- Long USB-A to USB-C braided cable
CONS
- Arrow keys require function key to activate.

Phone Protections meet Clean Ocean!
on July 21, 2020
Posted by: IronHorseGPS
from Pacific Beach, WA
The LifeProof - WAKE Case for Apple® iPhone® 11 - Black provides a ultra-thin case protector made from 85% ocean-based plastics. Form fitted and designed specifically for your phone model, while maximizing drop protection up to 2 meters. Even the product packaging promotes recycling.
I found this case to be adequate for general daily use. The case is made of hard plastic, which I found to be very slick and slippery for most surfaces. Unlike other cases, there is no real cushioning around the corners and edges, just ribbed plastic. I see this as a potential risk for damage to phones as there is no "give" in this product. Additionally, while I am please to own a product that cleans up the ocean from plastics, but the hardness of the product, slippery nature of the plastic, and limited tactile quality for your hands, I do not see this as a great phone protection for more than general everyday use.
PROS
- Lifeproof brand and quality
- Earth-friendly product
- General protection for everyday use
- Socially responsible donations for purchases
CONS
- Hard plastic
- Scratches easy
- Slippery
- Limited protection for heavy use or high risks of drops
This product might be great for most users. I would recommend if you are looking for general protection and an earth-friendly product. I would not personally recommend it based on my usage and drop risk - scratches would be a daily issue for me.

Great 2 in 1 for those who need ethernet!

The Belkin - USB-C Network Adapter - Black is yet another innovation by Belkin who leads the pack in adapters for devices. While not everyone will need this type of adapter, those who do, especially those without good Wi-Fi, will find this a must have as it allow simultaneous charging and internet connection for devices which have removed obvious ports such as Macbooks and iPads.
This is a great addition to my MacBook Pro as there is only USB-C connections now and I do not always want to have a big adapter connected to my device in rural areas. These adapters often do not even include a Cat5/ethernet port anyway.
PROS
- Belkin quality and reliability
- Belkin design and innovation
- Charging and internet in one connection
CONS
- None at this time

Upright Alternative for charging and viewing!
on July 9, 2020
Posted by: IronHorseGPS
from Pacific Beach, WA
The Belkin - BOOST CHARGE 10W Qi Certified Fast Charge Wireless Charging Pad for iPhone®/Android - Black is a great change to the cord clutter or flat Qi charger pad for those who still need to view their phones while it charges. The upright design allows for perfect viewing angle for alerts and face unlocks while keeping your hands free to do other work. No need to navigate the cord around monitors and keyboards just to look at your phone message any longer. Additionally, Belkin's Boost Charge price point comes in less than the brand name competitor of a similar design, yet provides better cradle of your device so it won't accidentally slip off.
I found this to be a great device and the charge times were excellent.
PROS
- Belkin quality and reliability
- Design
- Charge rate is excellent
- Works on all Qi rated phones
CONS
- May have issues is you use a metal plate for magnetic mounting. Make sure your plate sits low on your device and you will be fine are the metal will disrupt the charging field. This is not a product flaw, but a Qi flaw.
Highly recommended over flat Qi chargers or other costly brand names.

Effective Shaver with thoughtful design.
on June 22, 2020
Posted by: IronHorseGPS
from Pacific Beach, WA
The Panasonic - Arc5 Wet/Dry Electric Shaver - Matte Black is an excellent shaver able to nearly replace your straight-edge razor completely. The 5-blade system uses cross-cut action rather than rotary blades like many other systems. Panasonic boasts 70,000 cross-cut actions per minute!
I found this shaver to be an awesome upgrade to various other "cross-cut" shavers. Cross-cut razors traditionally get hot and are not well designed for closeness without rash or heat burn to the face and neck. The Panasonic Arc5 seems to have overcome this dilemma by give a close shaver (close to a straight-edge) without contributing to razor burn and heat transfer. Wet and dry, this razor was a beard buster.
The edging/trimmer was close and precise for hairline, around ears, goatee, and around lips.
PROS
- Panasonic design and quality
- Effective both wet or dry
- Close shave without heat or razor burn
- Accessories and pouch were appropriate and compact for travel or for the drawer
- Trimmer is precise and effective for tight hairlines and sensitive spots
- Variable pivoting head makes any position or angle successful for shaving
NEUTRAL
- Recharging/cleaning base should be standard with this device, not an addon.
CONS
- None

Good Device, Poor Addons!
on June 22, 2020
Posted by: IronHorseGPS
from Pacific Beach, WA
The HyperDrive - DUO 7-in-2 USB Type-C Hub for MacBook Pro - Gray is a second rendition of the HyperDrive, but poorly executed! Offering basically everything the first version of this has, minus the power light, the DUO 7 offers nothing new of noteworthiness. The addition of a removable magnetic bracket to help secure it to your MacBook.
I found this product to be redundant to the previous iteration of the HyberDrive. While it boasts the 7 in 2 input feature it removes the power indicator light and adds an awkward, and basically unnecessary magnetic bracket. While the overall functionality of this device is great, the light is something I missed and the bracket was cumbersome. It also makes it impossible to shut your mac as the bracket sits on top of the keyboard surface just enough that you would bend your mac to force it to close. This make the bracket worthless for my uses as I often need to close my mac without unplugging everything. The addition of the bracket did not secure the device to my mac in any real way, only added the damage risk to the lid and decreased functionality of closing my mac. The USB-C extension did not make much sense to me either. I did not find any reason I would ever need it or use it.
The device itself is made of quality materials, solid construction and adds the needed inputs to your mac where Apple removed them! The "Vegan" leather pouch is not designed well as the device and addons do not fit in it at the same time. It is great for the device, but pointless if you must keep the magnetic grip and USB-C extension with it.
PROS
- HyperDrive Quality and Construction
- 7 in 2 input capability including: 1 HDMI, 2 USB, 2 USB-C, 2 Media Card inputs
- High Speed data transfer in all ports
NEUTRAL
- "Vegan" leather pouch
- USB-C Extension
CONS
- Magnetic "grip" bracket does not allow closuring of the Mac
- Magnetic "grip" bracket is unnecessary and cumbersome
Overall, if the price is better for this version over the older version, I recommend purchasing this item. If not, get the older version as you have less "addons" that you will likely never use or just throw in a drawer/trash.

So much more than just a smoothie maker!
on May 7, 2020
Posted by: IronHorseGPS
from Pacific Beach, WA
Ninja - Professional Plus Blender with Auto-iQ - Gray is a great addition to any home or professional kitchen for those who are ready for a quick smoothie to start their day or for those seeking a blender that works as hard as you do in the kitchen.
Having been a avid fan of a competing brand and loving their blender for the various uses I have for it, I was skeptical of this product as a replacement in my kitchen. The Ninja performed extremely well and the extra large container made my tasks easy to accomplish. Over 72 oz of capacity seemed overkill, but was useful and not oversized. To but the Ninja to the test, I diverted from the norm of smoothie making to but it through the trial of making homemade salsa. My experience shows that most blenders over work the ingredients and add much unneeded air in the mixture. The Ninja's Pulse setting was perfect and after one batch trial and error, the mix came out perfectly without the added air. I loaded the Ninja down with 3 pint jars of ingredients as apposed to my normal one per blend... No problem! The Ninja took it in stride and made a perfect salsa for 3 jars.
My only concern for this unit is that I am a fan of glass compared to plastic. Glass does not retain smell (such as peppers and onions) where as plastics can hold on to the smells, even after washing.
PROS
- Ninja brand and quality
- 1400w power(ful) handles anything you throw at it
- Multiple settings and IQ features assist in the perfect blend for any need
- 72 oz cup is huge but not unmanageable or cumbersome
- Dishwasher safe for all necessary parts
- Lock and seal top, with easy pour spout makes use a breeze
- 3 parts (removeable) makes clean up easy
CONS
- Plastic cup is a long-term concern for odd retention. I still had pepper and onion smell after the first wash, but it was gone after the second.

NOT what the hype makes it out to be!
By DrHedrick from Western Washington
So far, after about 5 days, I am somewhat disappointed with the Galaxy S6. The battery life sucks compared to the Note 2 I am switching from. It is very laggy and definitely not "snappy" as per the many claims. Sometimes it must be restarted to be able to use it as the fingerprint unlock and alternate keyboard unlock do not work and the phone blacks out after 3 seconds. Only 32GB available onboard and I have the over half-way filled at this point and no way to expand it with a sealed phone. The fingerprint scanner is fair, but useless while driving. Hard to navigate or find previously easy to use settings. Notifications are frustrating since they all are OFF out of the box.
As a somewhat power user, I wish I had opted for the Note 4/Edge instead of settling for the S6.
The few Pros I can offer are the following...
1. The screen and clarity is amazing
2. The pictures and videos are equally amazing
3. Smaller and lighter than the Note series
4. Interesting new features, although I have not had time to fully explore them.
There are better options available if you can afford them... ie- Galaxy Note series!

A Great Idea crippled by horrible App
By OmieOne from East Stroudsburg, PA
This is a great idea. Three routers with a backhaul over Mu-MIMO. In theory could get good coverage for a house and for the people who get this to work I'm sure it is a great product. I have wasted over 3 hours over two days trying to get this router to work. I can only get one Node configured. The other two nodes won't connect event when I place the nodes right next to each other, I still get errors like out of range.
My experience has been very poor. Please note to setup and administrator this router IT REQUIRES and IOS or ANDROID DEVICE. This app is not in the Amazon store. I have a few of the cheaper Amazon tablets and figured while I wait for my new Android phone I could use that or worse case like EVERY OTHER ROUTER ON THE MARKET I could hardwire or connect to default wireless network and setup the routers via a web page. No. If you try Linksys Mocks you and tells you must use an app. I had to borrow an android phone to setup this up to test. I should have stopped there. I don’t mind apps and it would be fine if the app was useful. But it isn't. It was written under the assumption you would not have a problem, but the number of times I've tried to add Nodes to this and got told, hey you'll need a plug etc. It takes like 5 clicks to start the add a node process. Not ideal, esp. if you notice someone keeps trying stop making me over click. Seeing it say Uh-Oh press the red reset button and have it not really fix the issue just induces rage, or when it says it is setting up and just hangs, no good.
Also, when the nodes don't connect there is no useful information. The Linksys Range extender I have gave me more information via the web page then this app on if they are two far or close.
Additionally, I've tried resetting the system, via the reset button, but I have no idea if that is working since I can't connect to the router except via the app and it doesn't tell me if it is back to default connection. Additionally, this app connects to your Velop via an Internet cloud connection. It is faster when your connected via wireless to the node, but still have that little cloud connection, and I'm not a fan of having to connect to a Cloud service that I can't two factor protect and won't use the full keyboard of symbols forcing me to use an extra-long password to protect my router.
This setup experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth and crippled what could be a good idea. The single router when it was working I checked my phone, and I know it is using both 5Gz and 2.4Gz still have me a strong signal throughout my house and only needs one. But I was looking forward to using this to extend some LAN ports to a few places and saving me a few 50ft. cords I have in the house. With the backhaul it would have been able to cover the data my switches have.
Other cons no USB ports so if you have a printer or USB HDD on your current router, you'll need to consider other options if you go with this.
I really wanted to like it, but not providing a customer with additional tools or an easy way via the app to reset or control the router is frustrating. I know my next step is to try this weekend to contact customer service open a case and see if they can fix it. But even if they get it working, the fact that I must use an Android App, and can’t use a desktop to manage it, makes me worry what will happen if it goes wrong or worse since it is app only what will happen when someone finds a vulnerability in the cloud service Linksys uses to connect back to the routers and start messing with them. I wish they would at least have some form of two factor and allow for more complex passwords, or at the very least once the initial setup is done disable the external web connection cloud service and only allow the app to work when I’m locally connected.
For everyone who got this to work I’m sure this will be the product, just hope you don’t have an issue that requires troubleshooting.
On the one working node I did test the speed and it seemed over wireless my EA9500 was more consistent and a bit faster from the same source and destination for a large file copy, but the Velop was close enough that most people wouldn’t notice anything. I also tested the single working node with some online gaming, both in the other Ethernet slot and wireless and I didn’t notice any performance impact. Since I can’t get all the nodes I have tested true load to report, but I’m sure others who have it working will, and I’m sure once I work with Linksys support I can get this system working it will be fine and provide me with spotless coverage. Just the whole having to use an app, and what I feel a limited and poorly designed app, and have it forced down on us with no backup connection has left a sour feeling and makes me worry about what will happen in the future if these devices go wonky, I won’t be able to troubleshoot, reset/fix as quickly as I could in the past and to be fair to Linksys this is a new product just out and they may fix the app and hopefully add other versions or allow access to the web service locally to manage them. Just know that if you are looking for a mesh like network this isn’t a bad router, but it seems to be crippled by an over simplified app, that is limited to two platforms and requires Internet connectivity to full function.

I found the product to be amazing, but the setup and App-only setup to be cumbersome and frustrating.

Need to connect Ethernet multi-port Hub to Google Home WiFi. This to allow me to connect SmartThings & Philips hubs which communicate with their smart devices. I also need a 2nd port to connect to the router. So are there 2 ports the Google WiFi home?

Here is a picture of the bottom of one of the pods.

Hopefully this will answer your question.

I need this for my 16 year old grand daughter..she uses more wifi in one day than I do in a month..basically needed for her phone. Can this be used for only one item???

Yes, this item would work fine for most wifi needs.

It is fast and can handle just about anything you can throw at it in the means of download and upload speeds.

Remember, there is a big difference between wifi speed and internet bandwidth. These wifi access points will facilitate effective connection, but if your grand daughter is eating up all your data and bandwidth, you will need to contact your provider to increase this.

Watching 1080p on 4K - is the picture clear?

I have read numerous tech reviews which state that when viewing 1080p content on this P602UI 4k set the picture can be blurry. Is this in fact true? I ordered this set and wondering if I made a mistake because most everything is and will be 1080p for a long while. Wondering if I should order 1080 tv instead. Thanks for answering.
I have the P-Series - 55" Class (60" Diag.) - LED - 2160p - Smart - 4K Ultra HDTV and the 1080p content is sharp, clear, and awesome! Just make sure to plug into the high-def HDMI port #5 and not the standard HDMI ports.

can you repair a laptop that was not purchased at best buy?

We purchased a laptop last year from Walmart. It is a Compaq Presario CQ62. The screen froze then so I con-alt-del. when I turned it on it said the following:

SMART hard disk error
The smart hard disk check has detected an imminent failure. To ensure not data loss, please back up the content immediately and runthe hard disk test in system diagnostics.
Hard disk 1 (301)
No bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key

The problem is whatever key i press in diagnostics, it says failure. We also do not have a boot disk. Is this something you can help us with please?

Many thanks

How much will it cost to get my PS2 fixed?

I need to get my laser replaced or fixed but I'm not sure how much it will cost me and if I should just buy a new game system.
It is late in coming, but time to get a new system.

The PS2 is now greatly outdated and the costs to repair are too high. You can buy a used PS2 for next to nothing at your local Goodwill or resale gaming store.

Best Buy offers may deals on the PS4, Xbox One, and other systems - and offer an optional warranty.

Best of Luck!
