Wide Range and Speed, Lacking Features
on September 27, 2017
Posted by: IronHorseGPS
from Olympia, WA
The D-Link - Covr AC3900 Dual-Band Whole Home Wi-Fi System is D-Link's attempt at a Mesh Network and from a purely signal and speed perspective, they have succeeded! The set up was a breeze as was the connectivity to all of our many devices.
I found that the main router has a huge footprint and was challenging to find room on my "internet shelf" but after a few minutes, I was able to squeeze it in without blocking the antennas. After about 45 seconds the system was up and broadcasting the wifi signal.
Connecting the companion unit was fairly easy if you read the directions. Just a simple button push and after about 120-150 seconds they were linked and broadcasting seamlessly. Our home is 2-stories and about 2000 sq ft footprint so this network enveloped the home and a good portion of our yard in a strong signal with little to no degradation.
I ran a speed test with D/L of 92Mbps and U/L of 24 Mbps which was actually higher than our previous system of about 91 Mbps and 18-20 Mbps respectively. We use Xfinity/Comcast internet for comparison.
PROS
- Easy setup
- Strong signals up to 6000 sq ft
- Awesome speed throughput
- Simple companion connectivity
- Whole Home/Business connectivity with one system and on Network
- MU-MIMO, 802.11a/g/n/ac wireless LAN connectivity, 2.4 Ghz & 5 Ghz bands, and USB access
CONS
- Very large footprint, antennas add to size
- Internal software features are limited, weak Parental Controls must be manually implemented
- Limit of 24 websites/urls can be blocked
While the limited parental controls and large router footprint are negatives for me and my family's needs, the D-Link Covr is an amazing system and has proven to be a top competitor in wireless networking when it comes to speed and connectivity.
If you have the room/space for this unit and parental controls are not a selling factor, get this system!

A new twist on the neckband headphones
on September 23, 2017
Posted by: IronHorseGPS
from Olympia, WA
The Bose SoundWear Companion Speaker is something completely different than your typical neckband headphones as it aims to appeal to those who want to truly be "wireless" without the awkward wired earbuds from the neckbands, yet get quality sound combined with wearable convenience.
Bose is synonymous with high-quality sound and innovation, so the SoundWear Companion Speaker is the newest iteration of this expectation. It is clean, sleek, and minimal right out of the box, and impressive to look at.
I found that the setup was not as sleek as it required you to download a specific Bose app to support the device after a quick pairing with my iPhone. The app, even on wifi took approximately 5 minutes to download and install despite only being 93.2 MB. I felt this was odd.
After pairing and downloading the app, the SoundWear finally began to function. It is a very different experience than one might think. The sound comes from the neckband with nothing physically in your ears. The sound quality was excellent, but unless I was on the lowest volume setting, everyone around me could hear the music and cell phone conversations. Privacy is a concern!
I also found the design to be great for my wife, but not so great for me being a bigger guy. For her, the SoundWear fit perfectly and stayed in place while she used it, but for me, I found the no matter how much I adjusted the band (flexible and shapable) to a tighter fit for my neck, when walking or actively moving about, it always seemed to be falling backwards and I found I was often readjusting it to keep it from falling off my shoulders. I also found the cover of the SoundWear catching/snagging on my 5 o'clock shadow stubble often and I am concerned about how long the cover will hold up to this over time.
PROS
- Innovative Design, First of its kind
- Sound Quality is amazing as we can come to expect from Bose
- Perfect for a home office or micro business setting where computer work consumes a majority of your day
- Bluetooth and handsfree phone and music playback
- Useful while driving for handsfree phone calls
- The construction is solid and feels rugged
- Charging is fast a reliable (micro USB)
- Battery life seems to last well over 12 hours per charge
CONS
- The practicality of this product is limited
- Does not seem useful for any workout or physical activities
- The design may not meet the physical differences of all individuals depending on their size
- The control buttons take some getting used to and are not where I would immediately expect them to have been based on other neckband products.
- Privacy is at a minimum with this device
While I have some concerns over this product, I would still recommend it to many of my work and class colleagues as it would be perfect for their needs working in front of the computer or driving between business stops.

Top notch - This thing is Awesome!

The Shark - IONFlex DuoClean IF251 Bagless Cordless Pet Stick Vacuum - Blue stream is the best-in-class of the cordless stick vacuums! It offers many features that the other brands forgot or overlooked, but Shark got it right!
It was always my personal opinion that Shark was just a cheap brand for the high volume, low-value box stores. This product proved me wrong in every possible way!
The power of this stick vac is amazing and the features are numerous. We also have the V7 vac from the other top brand, and thought the Shark would struggle to compete; we were wrong!
PROS
- Raw power nearly equivalent to that of a corded vac
- Multiple adjustments to meet any need you have
- Two rechargeable and removable batteries powerful enough to complete all your vacuuming, with power left to spare for the nooks and crannies
- Light-weigh and easy to use
- Setup was a breeze
- Unique designed wheels allow cornering similar to the "ball" vac but without the height restrictions!
- Vacuum under beds or furniture without bending down or moving the furniture with the unique bending tube feature
- Unlike our other stick vacuum, this one is a complete corded vacuum replacement!!
CONS
- Pricey but we felt it is worth the cost for what you get!
Definitely, a must-have item for any size house! Strongly Recommended!

Alienware and AMD Freesync are a must have!
on August 28, 2017
Posted by: IronHorseGPS
from Olympia, WA
The Alienware - 25" LED FHD FreeSync Monitor, like the G-Force Monitor option, is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to gaming and performance!
This monitor does it all by offering minimal bezel and maximum viewing, completely customizable for your viewing preferences, and is sleek and looks amazing, however it lacks the LED accents on the back that the upgrade G-Force monitor offers.
I never noticed any display issues at all while watching videos or playing demanding games, the AMD Freesync technology components withstood everything I threw at it with plenty of power left to spare.
PROS
- Amazing technology and design
- 240 MHz refresh rate
- Anti-glare screen with minimal bezel
- Easy to change from profile to portrait viewing
- Can be synced with other monitors for a wide viewing/multi-screen experience with ease
- Set up is a breeze
- The stand is solid and allows for physical screen adjustments in multiple directions without compromising the security of the screen.
CONS
- My only complaint is that while the bezel is minimal, the actual viewing area does not fully extend to the bezel and leaves about a 1/8 to 3/16" border around the screen which seems strange for such a high-end monitor and is very noticeable at first. It disappears into the experience however once you start your movie or game.
I highly recommend this monitor and if you are a serious, multi-screen gamer, you need a couple two or three of these to maximize your gaming experience and to have the best viewing set up anywhere!
If you must have the LED back lit monitors to make your gaming station complete, then you will want to get the upgrade NVidia G-Force monitors as they have the LEDs in the back. I did not notice any difference in viewability or performance between the two models, however.

Dell nearly got this gaming desktop perfect!
on August 25, 2017
Posted by: IronHorseGPS
from Olympia, WA
The Dell - Inspiron Desktop - AMD Ryzen 7 1700 - 16GB Memory - AMD Radeon RX 580 - 1TB Hard Drive - Recon Blue is a beast when it comes to a high-end gaming computer on a budget!
This computer over-performed my expectations for an AMD computer and I was pleasantly surprised by the results. There was tons of power and responsive performance from this budget option. Having had bad experiences with AMD's in the past, I wasn't entirely sure I would like what this desktop would offer.
From a gaming perspective, I ran it through some old skool games of the past as well as current games to explore its possibilities and overall I was pleased. The only major hang up I have had with this system is that it is saddled to Windows 10 Home edition which seems to need to update and use the processor at the most inopportune times. Unfortunately, even with all the power this computer possesses, it could not overcome the pitfalls of the Windows OS and got burdened down a couple of times when I was trying to use it for a game.
PROS
- TONS OF POWER!
- Amazing performance when Windows isn't being windows.
- The AMD Ryzen 1700 (8-core) processor and independent AMD graphics card makes this very responsive - all on a budget friendly option.
- 16 GB of DDR4 RAM right out of the Box so there isn't an immediate need to upgrade after purchase!
- 1 TB Hard Drive provide sufficient HD space for most users
- More inputs than most people will ever use... (6) SS-USB, (4) USB, (1) USB-C, (1) SD Card Reader, (1) HDMI, (3) DisplayPorts, about 5-6 audio output jacks, and more
- Very expandable with room to grow in the tower and up to 32 GB (2-slot) RAM
- A nice overall design and look
CONS
- Saddled to the Windows 10 Home OS
- Comes with a basic Dell keyboard and wired mouse, not a gaming keyboard or mouse as one would like when purchasing a gaming computer.
- AMD's reputation compared to that of Intel.
- Hard Drive is not solid state
- Optical Drive does not include Bluray
Overall, this is an amazing desktop for gaming and will handle anything you play! I would recommend it to most people, however, it doesn't make 4 stars because of the few areas lacking listed above.

Nice Design, Good Look, Not Great Though
on August 2, 2017
Posted by: IronHorseGPS
from Greater Seattle Area
The DeLonghi - MultiFry 1.8-Quart Multi Cooker was an item I was excited to try and was hoping to love, but it fell short for me. The design is nice, it looks good, but I wasn't impressed with the overall results of the cooked food in this device.
I waited to write my review until I had sufficient opportunity to work out any bugs from user error, but the results were always the same for me.
PROS
- Nice design and look
- Suction cup feet to hold it in place while cooking
- Healthier cooking option than deep-frying, 1 tablespoon of oil or less
- Provides cook book to help get you started
- Easy clean up
CONS
- Loud!
- Easy to burn the food, questionable cooking times!
- The cook book is very limited and is only a beginners guide at best
- Large footprint on your counter top, may not work for everyone depending on your available space (consider the smaller size unit)
I could go either way on this product. For DeLonghi, they usually hit home runs, in this case, not so much! Due to the price and my experiences, I would not recommend this item.

What doesn't this camera do?
on July 26, 2017
Posted by: IronHorseGPS
from Greater Seattle Area
The Logitech Circle 2 Wired Camera was a huge surprise right out of the box. It was set up and was running without issues in less than 5 minutes. Easy, simple, and limited technical knowledge required!
PROS
- Easy setup
- Long power cable makes for easy placement nearly anywhere you need it without concerns about reaching AC power outlets
- Powerful and easy to use phone app (Logi Circle) with many features and options
- You can speak to people through the camera in the room via your app... VERY COOL FEATURE!
- Water Resistant for outside usage/placement (Not to be placed in direct sunlight however)
- Great view range (180 degrees)
- Great clarity and quality (up to 1080p)
- Great night vision clarity and automatic, 1 second, adjustment
- Low profile and clean look doesn't distract from placement in any room
- Free trial for Circle Safe Premium (full service)
- Circle Safe Free offered free of charge for 24 hours of footage
CONS
- Wired may be frustrating due to the length - can be hard to hide all of it depending upon the location of placement
- Costs for monthly access to Circle Safe subscriptions (Basic $3.99 monthly, Premium $9.99 monthly or $99.99 annual)
This is an excellent option for anyone with kids or animals you want to check on. If you need to speak with them, just tap the talk button on your app and you can talk to them through the camera and they can talk back to you!! Or, if you set this up outside, talk to someone at your door even if your not at home! Great for safety or security! Water resistant as well!
This is an excellent product! I love it and want at least two more for my home to cover the outside doors and porches as well!

Great Attempt, not as polished as expected
on July 5, 2017
Posted by: IronHorseGPS

JLab - Gravity Bluetooth Neckband Adapter with Earbuds provides a feature that most other neckband headphones do not... it can accept any headphone with a small input and turn them into a bluetooth setup. I thought this would make my experience better, but it was unfortunately the best part of my experience.
I was very frustrated with the overall feel and design of this product. It feels flimsy and the cover for the headphone wires is basically useless as the wires just fall back out after use.
The sound quality is very good with the included earbuds and bluetooth settings however, which helped my leave my rating neutral in the end.
PROS
- Good sound
- Bluetooth quality and reliable
- Easy to use once synced
- Allows for any headphones to connect to a bluetooth setup
CONS
- Design is lacking
- Questionable overall quality
- Only completes with other neckbands in price per unit, but not quality or design
- Disappointing cover for wires, useless

- Waterproof from rain and splashes near the pool
- Great battery life (7-10 hrs depending on use)
- Quality design with a ruggedness feel

NOT what the hype makes it out to be!
By DrHedrick from Western Washington
So far, after about 5 days, I am somewhat disappointed with the Galaxy S6. The battery life sucks compared to the Note 2 I am switching from. It is very laggy and definitely not "snappy" as per the many claims. Sometimes it must be restarted to be able to use it as the fingerprint unlock and alternate keyboard unlock do not work and the phone blacks out after 3 seconds. Only 32GB available onboard and I have the over half-way filled at this point and no way to expand it with a sealed phone. The fingerprint scanner is fair, but useless while driving. Hard to navigate or find previously easy to use settings. Notifications are frustrating since they all are OFF out of the box.
As a somewhat power user, I wish I had opted for the Note 4/Edge instead of settling for the S6.
The few Pros I can offer are the following...
1. The screen and clarity is amazing
2. The pictures and videos are equally amazing
3. Smaller and lighter than the Note series
4. Interesting new features, although I have not had time to fully explore them.
There are better options available if you can afford them... ie- Galaxy Note series!

A Great Idea crippled by horrible App
By OmieOne from East Stroudsburg, PA
This is a great idea. Three routers with a backhaul over Mu-MIMO. In theory could get good coverage for a house and for the people who get this to work I'm sure it is a great product. I have wasted over 3 hours over two days trying to get this router to work. I can only get one Node configured. The other two nodes won't connect event when I place the nodes right next to each other, I still get errors like out of range.
My experience has been very poor. Please note to setup and administrator this router IT REQUIRES and IOS or ANDROID DEVICE. This app is not in the Amazon store. I have a few of the cheaper Amazon tablets and figured while I wait for my new Android phone I could use that or worse case like EVERY OTHER ROUTER ON THE MARKET I could hardwire or connect to default wireless network and setup the routers via a web page. No. If you try Linksys Mocks you and tells you must use an app. I had to borrow an android phone to setup this up to test. I should have stopped there. I don’t mind apps and it would be fine if the app was useful. But it isn't. It was written under the assumption you would not have a problem, but the number of times I've tried to add Nodes to this and got told, hey you'll need a plug etc. It takes like 5 clicks to start the add a node process. Not ideal, esp. if you notice someone keeps trying stop making me over click. Seeing it say Uh-Oh press the red reset button and have it not really fix the issue just induces rage, or when it says it is setting up and just hangs, no good.
Also, when the nodes don't connect there is no useful information. The Linksys Range extender I have gave me more information via the web page then this app on if they are two far or close.
Additionally, I've tried resetting the system, via the reset button, but I have no idea if that is working since I can't connect to the router except via the app and it doesn't tell me if it is back to default connection. Additionally, this app connects to your Velop via an Internet cloud connection. It is faster when your connected via wireless to the node, but still have that little cloud connection, and I'm not a fan of having to connect to a Cloud service that I can't two factor protect and won't use the full keyboard of symbols forcing me to use an extra-long password to protect my router.
This setup experience has left a bitter taste in my mouth and crippled what could be a good idea. The single router when it was working I checked my phone, and I know it is using both 5Gz and 2.4Gz still have me a strong signal throughout my house and only needs one. But I was looking forward to using this to extend some LAN ports to a few places and saving me a few 50ft. cords I have in the house. With the backhaul it would have been able to cover the data my switches have.
Other cons no USB ports so if you have a printer or USB HDD on your current router, you'll need to consider other options if you go with this.
I really wanted to like it, but not providing a customer with additional tools or an easy way via the app to reset or control the router is frustrating. I know my next step is to try this weekend to contact customer service open a case and see if they can fix it. But even if they get it working, the fact that I must use an Android App, and can’t use a desktop to manage it, makes me worry what will happen if it goes wrong or worse since it is app only what will happen when someone finds a vulnerability in the cloud service Linksys uses to connect back to the routers and start messing with them. I wish they would at least have some form of two factor and allow for more complex passwords, or at the very least once the initial setup is done disable the external web connection cloud service and only allow the app to work when I’m locally connected.
For everyone who got this to work I’m sure this will be the product, just hope you don’t have an issue that requires troubleshooting.
On the one working node I did test the speed and it seemed over wireless my EA9500 was more consistent and a bit faster from the same source and destination for a large file copy, but the Velop was close enough that most people wouldn’t notice anything. I also tested the single working node with some online gaming, both in the other Ethernet slot and wireless and I didn’t notice any performance impact. Since I can’t get all the nodes I have tested true load to report, but I’m sure others who have it working will, and I’m sure once I work with Linksys support I can get this system working it will be fine and provide me with spotless coverage. Just the whole having to use an app, and what I feel a limited and poorly designed app, and have it forced down on us with no backup connection has left a sour feeling and makes me worry about what will happen in the future if these devices go wonky, I won’t be able to troubleshoot, reset/fix as quickly as I could in the past and to be fair to Linksys this is a new product just out and they may fix the app and hopefully add other versions or allow access to the web service locally to manage them. Just know that if you are looking for a mesh like network this isn’t a bad router, but it seems to be crippled by an over simplified app, that is limited to two platforms and requires Internet connectivity to full function.

I found the product to be amazing, but the setup and App-only setup to be cumbersome and frustrating.

Make your home an internet haven with this versatile Linksys Velop wireless Wi-Fi system. Three identical tri-band dual-stream AC2200 routers, each equipped with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor, deliver lightning-fast internet. Equipped with Bluetooth 4.0/LE, this Linksys Velop wireless Wi-Fi system is simple to set up and pairs easily with computers, tablets and smart devices.

So if you get 15 people or more connected to wifi playing PS4 tablets cellphones and smartvs. It won't slow the internet speed or disconnect?

Fran,

The Velop system can manage multiple users and keep the speeds consistent, however, like with any other wifi system and internet data stream, it will all depend on the bandwidth of your service. If you only have 20 Mbps, using the Velop system can only use this bandwidth among the 15 people. The Tri-mode system of the Velop helps ensure that maximum speed is available for the bandwidth you send it.

In short... all systems will eventually slowdown as the demand increases. This system attempts to maximize what it is given.

Do I still l need to pay a service provider each month (like Comcast or Verizon)?

Jean,

Yes! The Velop system is not an internet provider. It is a whole home wireless mess network to carry your internet connection seamlessly throughout your home or business. You must still have access to the internet via a service provider and modem.

Are these wireless? Or do these need a LAN connection from my service provider like a typical wireless extender?

Kdchs,

This system is wireless, however, your "parent" node must be physically connected to your modem via Ethernet cable or wireless to a modem/router combo. The additional node operate wirelessly and do not need Ethernet cables.

Is this system comparable to using a single router and two or three remote access points at different locations within the home?

Tincup,

Your question is accurate. It is similar to this, however, remember that the Velop system is a mess network and therefore offers seamless transition between nodes and much faster speeds than the setup you are referring to. If you need wider range or better speeds, you need the Velop system!

Can I connect my printer (Cannon iP8700) to this via wifi?

Palimow,

Since the Cannon iP8700 printer appears to be wifi compatible, there would be no issues adding it to your Velop Mess network. The Velop system make for a seamless whole home/office wifi network with strong signals and fast speeds.

Will you be offering the 2 pack? The 3 pack is unnecessary unless your house is over 5,000 sq ft.

The Velop system will be available in 1, 2, and 3 packs.

Plan for about 2000 sq ft per Velop Node and you can determine how many you will need.

how can everyone give 5 stars for a product that is not out for purchasing? None of them are verified purchaser. This product must suck so bad it needs fake review.

It came out at the end of December for some people and full release in early January.

I have personally had mine since Tuesday. While I like it a lot, Linksys' App is why I gave it a 4-star not the 5-star I had hoped to give it.

These reviews are legit - not fake reviews.

Whip up healthy drinks with the Nutri Ninja BlendMax blender. Its Total Crushing blade technology and 1600W of power grind vegetables and frozen fruits, letting you create luscious smoothies, purees and fresh juices. The Nutri Ninja BlendMax blender comes with two interchangeable pitchers, letting you mix up to 88 oz. of ingredients or extract nutritious vitamins.

What is the HP on the Ninja- Nutri Blendmax Auto -iq Boost 88 oz blender? I know the 1500 watt has a 2HP

Based on your question, the calculation from Watts (1600) to Mechanical Horsepower for this unit would be 2.145635 HP.

This would be only slightly more than that of the 1500 watt unit which is technically 2.011533 HP in these terms.

1 Watt = The amount of power equal to one joule of energy per second. Watt is the SI unit for power. 1 W = 1 J/s = 1 N*M/s = 1 kg*m2/s3

Create a reliable internet connection throughout your home with this Google Wi-Fi system. The convenient package of three connectivity points effortlessly covers even large homes up to 4,500 square feet. This Google Wi-Fi system eliminates uneven bandwidth usage among multiple devices, including cellphones and tablets, for an unimpeded connection that doesn't lag behind.

Will these work on a regular Verizon broadband? They don't offer the fios out where I liv yet

Sure, if you have an available Ethernet out from your Verizon modem, these should work fine.

What type of range does each unit have?

Each seems to cover about 800-1000 sq ft. or so.

I have a home that is 1926 sq feet, split level and it covers everything fine and we get signal in the garage as well (nearly 900 sq ft).
The signal is a little weaker upstairs using just one pod.

Using all three from this pack made the whole house light up and we can access the internet out in the yard about 50 ft from the house in all directions.
