EA Degin of Football games is a Joke!
on August 31, 2013

Madden football games have become a joke.
Not much distinguishes Madden NFL 25 from last year's Madden 13. The game has not been refined at all, but I never buy a madden game two years back to back and Im sorry I did it this time as well. I will not buy M14 for the PS4, I learned my lesson from xbox360 lunch
The presentation is poor. Whith the Infinity engine the game is the same as years past.
Madden still lags behind 2k sport games, EA Sports series like NHL and FIFA when it comes to visual and audio impact. The interface is awkward and slow. It takes too many button presses to reach many frequently accessed functions, and the game pauses with fairly lengthy loads whenever you move from one menu window to another. There isn't much glitz or attention to fine detail, either. Players and coaches often look nothing like their real-life counterparts. Stadiums are sterile and lifeless, with static graphics, jaggy architecture, and generic jack-in-the-box fans who look like cardboard cutouts mounted on springs.
Further contributing to the visual inconsistencies are animations that are repeated over and over again, like the trainer squirting water into a player's mouth as he comes off the field when a time-out is called. Touchdown celebrations are constantly reused, too. There is also an overall softness to everything after snaps. It's as if the game is just slightly out of focus as you're playing, which is frustrating since the zoomed-in replays shown between plays are typically sharp.
EA has taken out on field sound effects such as the sound of tackling, players talking to one another, and the sound of kicking the football is terrible and you cannot even hear it.
The music is very dated and primitive sounding for an EA Sports game. All you hear are old stadium tracks like the Black Eyed Peas' "Boom Boom Pow" and Joe Satriani's "Crowd Chant," along with the odd bit of classic rock like AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" and Guns N' Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle." The booth duo of Jim Nantz and Phil Simms is atrocious. They offer nothing but inanities, generic observations about the "offense" and the "defense" that rarely refer to players by name, and loads of those obnoxious "I'll tell you what" tics that make Simms so insufferable. Neither of them is watching the game that you're playing. They constantly contradict one another and make mistakes like saying how strong the pass protection has been today just after a QB has been sacked for the fourth time.
I always turn them off or mute their terrible in game comments. I wish I can mute the live in game comments as well.
I will wait until next year or 2016 to buy a football for the PS4.
Don’t waste your time. Gamespot Gave Madden 14 a 6.0 which is bad because M13 erned a 7.5. by that rating along it shows the Madden 14 is going backwards in the designs of this game.
You better take it back before you want get any of your money back for this game.
I got rid of this game..
What's great about it: its a joke and EA is making money
What's not so great: gamers got another poorly make football game
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

poor copy of NCAA football 12

It has been a long time since I bought a college football game or madden football and I was getting tired of waiting on EA to make a good madden football game. The last good football game I got was madden 10.
The last ncaa football game I got was 2005.
Now back to ncaa 13, this game is the worse football game I have ever bought and I am not trying to be funny. This game has been copy and paste to another disc from last year’s game but it is terrible.
The colors of the grass, uniforms, and everything is washed out in this game. The Sound effects is terrible and the tackling sounds is gone.
The crowds in the stands are like cutout cardboard pictures. Nothing looks real and there are no cheerleaders on the field making you feel like you are playing a real college football game. The colors are washed out so bad that it hurts my eyes to look at the game while I am playing it. out Do not buy this game. even though other reviews give this game a 5 and called this game a great game. They are not telling the truth at all. There are some reviews who will not write the truth about EA games for some unknown reason. But I am here to tell you the truth and I have nothing to gain or lose.
NCAA FOOTBALL 12 got a rating of 7.0
NCAA FOOTBALL 13 got a 6.5 but it should have gotten a 4.0 byy gamespot.com
So I took NCAA FOOTBALL 13 back to the game store and trade it in for NCAA 12 and I was pleased. You better get rid of NCAA FOOTBALL 13 before you will not get any money back for it, especially if you paid $65. I paid $44.99 for that copy and I lost about $15 on it.
EA is also making madden 13 and I will not buy this game until I see it even if there are great reviews and rating. If it is not better than madden 10, I will not buy it even though I love playing football. I got a bad feeling that madden 13 is going to be made very similar to ncaa 13 because EA makes both games and it looks like they do a lot of copying and pasting.
Do not buy this game. Rent it first
Do not buy!!!

This game is the same as years before it. Now it is very difficult to complete a pass, kick off run backs are just too hard to get passed the 20yd line.
Presentation is good and graphics are good as well. EA still have control of how many passes you can complete, fumbles you will have, how many INT you will have, and so on.
This game could have been a great game but there are just too many unfair settings against you.
If you have a player with great speed on a so called poor team, EA setup makes sure that that player run much slower against those so called better teams.
Often time’s players on poor team run backward or sideways so good team can stop you. thanks to EA unfair settings.
These issues is also visible in madden10, 11, and will be visible in madden 12.
I would not pay 64.00 for this game or madden12 as well. I also did not buy M11.
Wait and read other poor reviews and wait until the price is cheaper.

Not in 3D misleading

Excellent review bdogg, I totally agree with your assessment of this 3D movie. There are a lot of 3D movies that are not in 3D or have poor 3D effects such as Deep sea, Piranha 3D, journey to the center of the earth 3D, Allis in wonder land, among others.
Many of the 3D movies out now are poor 3D movies especially those old movies that were made into 3D. don’t buy!!
In addition, many of the reviews on 3D movies are not giving you the truth. I have learned to listen to those reviews that have given a 1 or 3 star on a movie or and item. I also look for reviews that focus on picture quality, sharpness, and 3D effects.
Many movie companies have not upgrade to 3D cameras so you have to be careful. 3D is still new. At this point the only movie companies I would trust are Sony & disney. Sony is the first to make 3D TVs, 3D movies, 3D dvd players, 3D glasses but I would be careful with them as well until more of the movie companies start making 3D movies.
Disney’s cartoon movies maybe the only safe movies to buy but you may want to rent them first as well.

Poor 3D effects, too pricey

When I read the first 2 reviews, I wanted to warm you about the truth of this movie before you throw your money away.
Most of the 3D effects are focus on fish crawling on the floor of the sea. Who wants to see fish walking on the floor of the sea or laying under rocks or something. Like that.
The movie commentary was boring and too much, and you do not need two people (Johnny Depp and Kate winslet) talking about a fish. Kate winslet would have been fine.
The little scenes of fish swimming did not make you want to say wow! At all. in fact, you will get tired of watching them swim like looking at regular TV. This movie is not worth $40.00 at all.
Many of the 3D movies out now are poor 3D movies especially those old movies that were made into 3D. don’t buy!!

I do know that this is the blue ray copy I am reviewing but every one need to know how bad the 3D part of this movie is.
Well this movie could have been a excellent 3D movie but sony picture forgot to used 3D cameras. This movie had very poor 3D effects and it was too disgusting in some scenes. I agree with the freeman that The gore, is so over the top that I also felt a little sick watching some of the climax scenes.
Do not buy this movie on 3D it is a waste of your money. If you have to see this movie buy it on blue ray DVD instead. This is just a sample of of how movie companies are trying to take more money from us buy making us believe that every 3D movie is made in 3D. wrong!! Please rent first..

Okay movie, story line not that good
With jet lee in this movie I was hoping that it would have been a more realistic and serious story/fight sceens.
Although there were some good special effects but the story had too many playful fight scenes and unrealistic jumping scenes. the story line also remind me of the karate kid movie as well. I was not a fan of those movies. It could have been a lot better.
All of Jackie chan movies are unrealistic and have playful fight scenes. If you like serious and realistic story and fight scenes this is not the movie for you.
Oh yeah! The special effects was very good and the blue ray picture was out standing. Plus, the sound effects was very good as well.

Good movie but Blue-ray too pricey I got a chance to see this movie on TV one evening and it was really good. The acting was good, the special effects was very good. The bugs really looked realistic, and the story was not bad as well. so whenever I give a movie this type of rating, I do try to buy it. However, not this movie on blue-ray, because it is well over priced and the blue-ray movie is not worth $50.I do not understand why it is so exspensive. It is a good movie to see but not to own on blue-ray.However, regular DVD price is okay but I am interested in blueray DVDs.
What's great about it: Good acting, special effects, story and humor

Good movie but poor HD picture quality
on June 8, 2009

Defiance is a really good movie and I like it very much. The story, actors, the intensity, and drama were powerful. This is a must see movie. but
defiance is another one of those blue ray movies that present it self as a high definition movie that is not an HD quality made film at all.
It is clear that this movie like many other blue ray movies was not filmed with an HD camera/equipment. Many film companies especially the big movie companies
Such as Disney, paramount, Sony, and Universal among others are not making all their movies in HD blue ray but selling these movies at a HD price.
The Picture throughout the movie is distorted and hazy around the actors and other images in all the scenes in this movie.
So please be careful because all blue ray movies are not made in HD and they are charging us $25 to $34 for poorly made movies.
Please rent them first before you buy them. it would save you a lot of money and disappointment. Buy the regular DVD instead if you really have to have this movie in your movie library or wait until the price is lowered to at least 15.00 to 19.00 because that is what these so called blue ray movies maybe worth.
This is not a true blue ray made movie, do not buy it at the HD price. Wait!! Do not let movie companies make fools out of us.
What's great about it: Good movie, story, intensity, and drama
What's not so great: but picture quality is very poor for a blue ray movie

Didn't like the movie, 3D effects were even worse.
By Laguna81 from Ridgewood, NY
The movie itself was just lame. But that might just be me.
3D though was really bad, and that's a fact. I'm using LG 55LX6500 and that so far was the only movie that showed considerable amount of ghosting. Others like Resident Evil 3D for example was flawless when it comes to 3D quality. As I researched it seems not all 3D movies are created equal.

You are right, many of the movie claiming to be 3D are not in 3D. it is encouraging to know that every one who post a review on 3D movies are standing up against companies that put out poor 3D movies.
Your TV is fine especially if you notice a difference between this movie and RE AFTERLIFE. So do not worry about those comments that tries to put your view down.
There is a lot of 3D movies that have poor 3D effects/quality and if some people want to buy them or give the good ratings than let them.

Much Better than expected
By PRlMETlME from Houston, TX
Graphics are sick; you can finally customize entire offensive and defensive playbooks. Tackling, receiving, and runner maneuverability is more realistic than ever (Way better than Madden). They also added dive catching. Plus no more cheap plays dumping the ball off to a back or scrambling all day with your QB. Outstanding!

QB running all day on you!! what does that say about your DF abilities. A true football gamer do not need EA help/setup to help them win a football game or stop someone QB.
A good football game allow you to make your own bad passes or poor DF. Most gamers are good because they use EA pre-setup/pre-written setup to help their poor play to win games.

A few glitches in a good game
By clairbearski from esat stroudsburg pa
NCAA Football and real coach namesOverall NCAA 12 is a great game nice looking presentation as usuall the game play overall is good . The running game require a slashing style of running to get the most out of it. The passing game seems to be somewhat inaccurate as while playing with OU Landry jones could only complete 9 0f 31 passes. amd as usual it semm CPU pass blocking is far more efficient than the user blocking. The multiuser offline dynasty game require a lot of work to set up as you have to go ing the coaching mena and edit the Coach to add more than one team. (BTW EA support will not help you with this issue but their user forum gave me the answer) Good news is the accurate coach names are not installed in the game But you still need to dl or create named rosters I used files from gamingtailgate a free dl from a game user. Kicking game is good and it seems the reaturn game is a bit better this year. soem of the play by play glitches occasionally If you love NCAA football The game is worth picking up.

Interesting but reality

When you are a fan of a game or fan of something, often time the truth about a game will not totally be given to others. This game only got a 7.0 out of 10 which is terrible for a 2012 football game on gamespot.com who test/play all new games.
Last year NCAA football game got an 8.0 this is a step backward. $65 is too much to pay for a game with a few visual upgrades. Do not get me wrong I love college football and madden but I do not believe in getting cheated by anyone especially a company like EA who specialize in cheating you out of your money with many of these games and controlling the video game market with unfair business practices.
A good football game allows you to make your own bad passes or poor DF. Most gamers are good because they use EA pre-setup/pre-written setup to help their poor play to win games.
I do agree with you about adjusting the settings that would allow the game to play a little easier but it is not worth $65 at all.
Maybe next year for me.
I hope M12 does not have these issues and I really do not hope M12 does not have shaking passing rout lines on offense like in NCAA. This is stoop it; it has nothing to do with football.
When it get down to $20 than I might buy it.

It's the day that defines whether you'll be celebrated as the new hero of the campus — or the biggest letdown in town. Not like previous versions
By Nutt130 from Fairmont, WV
I don't normally write reviews but after reading the reviews some people have put on here for this game and the 3.3 overall score it has I felt obligated to do so. There's a lot of hate on this game for being 'like every other NCAA game' because thats what people *always* say about these titles, I hate EA as a company, I hate their practices, I hate almost everything about them.
I played NCAA 11 last year. Got it through Gamefly, sent it back three days later because I was bored.
As of today August 7th I've played this game for at least an hour or more(some days several hours) since buying it on the day it released July 12th, I've played through three complete careers in Road to Glory, and a few years in Dynasty. This game is nothing like its predecessors, the collision system makes it a new experience every time you play it. Road to Glory is the main reason most people play it anyway, and it's as fun as it's ever been, its basically a football RPG.
As to Dynasty, yes you can see what the offense is choosing to use on the field so you can call adequate defensive plays to counter them, I don't know what that person was talking about that hasn't been an issue since day one. When you're on the offense you can use little tricks to assess whether the defense is using zone or man coverage. This is a solid game, and if Madden 12 is half as good as NCAA 12 I might not even need an NFL season.
Obviously don't waste your time if you don't like football, but if you are a self-respecting football fan you should own this game. It's beautiful, and it's a LOT of fun. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either bad at it, or just hating for the sake of hating.

NCAA FOOTBALL 12 LOVER BOY
August 9, 2011
I am glad that you love this game but it still does not mean that it is worth $60. There are still too many glitches and the only good thing about this game is the presentation. Maybe next year the game play will be better and fair without the same glitches .
So please do not try to sale this game like it is the best game ever. It is not at all.

I Don't Get It
By Tmac717 from Naperville
I really don't get it. I have been playing the NCAA football series for years and at times, I like it more than Madden. My favorite one ever was NCAA 2006 and since then, the game has just regressed. When you play a game on NCAA 2012, the presentation shows you the two schools and a player of interest and then starts. Back in 2006, they had the ESPN desk with Brad Nessler, Kirk Herbstreit, and Lee Corso making his pick to win by putting on the mascot helmet. How awesome was that??? In 2012, after you win a game, there is no celebration or anything, it brings you to essentially the "pause" menu to end your game, even if you win the National Champion! In 2006, I vividly remember after winning the National Championship, your coach being held on the shoulders' of his team with the trophy in the air. Awesome. Not to mention the game play of 2012 is very unlife-like. Passing the ball is just stupid, the coverage is ridiculously good 90% of the time. They are aggressive towards balls while your wide receivers just don't care. I had multiple games where the other team had 18 knock downs. Find me one real game where there had been anywhere close to that many knockdowns. And don't even get me started with the pass blocking, its garbage, absolute garbage. Even with a good line, half of the time you don't have enough time to let your receiver finish his route. The game is also glitched at times. On my dynasty, the play menu comes up half of the time with a ? where plays are suppose to be. I have to hit pause and resume a couple of times before I can call a play. The only good things about this game is the tackling is life-like and autosave is a nice feature. I'm just vastly disappointed this is what EA calls their NCAA football and the only NCAA football game available...

I agree, great step up from 2012. The studio in-game updates are a cool little addition. Catches are better and the crowd is def a huge factor. It's a lot easier winning at home than on the road which Is a reality in any sport and that is true in this game. Haven't tried the heisman challenges yet but, dynasty mode is enough for me.

this game is the worse football game I have ever bought and I am not trying to be funny.
The colors are washed out so bad that it hurts my eyes to look at the game while I am playing it. out Do not buy this game. even though this reviewer give this game a 5 and called this game a great game. They are not telling the truth at all. There are some reviews who will not write the truth about EA games for some unknown reason. But I am here to tell you the truth and I have nothing to gain or lose.
NCAA FOOTBALL 12 got a rating of 7.0
NCAA FOOTBALL 13 got a 6.5 but it should have gotten a 4.0 by gamespot.com
Buy NCAA football 12 instead, its better and cheaper
EA also making madden 13 and i will not buy it until i play it.

Great Step Up From 2012
By OrygunDuck48 from Atlanta
Nice step up from the 2012 version. The gameplay seems so realistic and the crowd plays an even bigger role. They get even louder on important plays and cheer the home teams chants. The catches have improved a lot in allowing the players to make more spectacular plays. Not have the same ole commentary has also improved and the "Score Alerts" make you feel like you're living in college football Saturdays.
Excellent game and probably their best year to date!

poor copy of NCAA football 12

It has been a long time since I bought a college football game or madden football and I was getting tired of waiting on EA to make a good madden football game. The last good football game I got was madden 10.
The last ncaa football game I got was 2005.
Now back to ncaa 13, this game is the worse football game I have ever bought and I am not trying to be funny. This game has been copy and paste to another disc from last year’s game but it is terrible.
The colors of the grass, uniforms, and everything is washed out in this game. The Sound effects is terrible and the tackling sounds is gone.

Good but Loss of custimization
By VenomN7 from Wisconsin
The game is the best pure gameplay madden ever but thats where it ends. No superstar mode, No franchise mode (my favorite), No menu music, lack thereof custimization, and 1 ONE game mode. Aside from MUT theres only Conected Careers and its 75% superstar mode and 10% franchise and 15% something else i dont know. The good is you can choose to be a player (like superstar mode) or coach (a dummied down version of franchise) and create that respected player or coach then choose mode options like to do online or offline and wheather or not to have salary cap on or off or accelerated clock on or off (thank god) but no edit option. once your in, you cant edit jersey number, stats, uniform accesories for that player. and the worst part you CANT carry a roster in career mode. for example if you made jay cutler better and dropped a few team mates before you start. once your in career mode you get the defaul roster. no matter what. even in offline mode. and the menu is sloppy and uninspiring. when you look at a player stats the yearly stats are there but no career stats at the bottom of the stats. you have to go through the career stats option and waste your time. and NO menu music except this classical music thats like its from NFL films thats cool to hear once but after a while it gets super anoying and no create music playlist that i saw of. Online is good but no simple online franchise. and players progress like its an RPG with xp you earn from playing football games and stats. its cool at first but gets lame. and when your a coach you can put XP in indivisual players or have it on automatically but no edit system of any kind. in my opinion This is the best playing madden ever. Fantastic tackling, passing, running and defenses are awesome. the best ever. but its the 2nd worst in the terms of simplicity and editing and playing madden your own way. you have to play it there way and that bothers me the most. Hope they fix it with a patch but for now, we will have to deal with the no custimazation and enjoy the game for what it is. The best football (playing) game ever BUT the awefulness of not being creative and enjoying career mode your own way. I would say to wait for next year but if you dont care for editiing then go for it. youll enjoy it.

There are a number of changes to Madden 13, with t
By Derik from Big Rock, IL
Features: This year's edition of EA's yearly NFL game is going to displease many fans very quickly. This is because the entire menu layout of the game seems to completely dysfunctional and seems to emulate the latest Xbox Live dashboard but in a poor way. Facebook and Twitter linking make their way in to the game allowing you to share your game results on the corresponding sites. Twitter is also present in your career mode using real people with real twitter accounts tweeting fake tweets that you would normally read during the real NFL season. For some, this is a neat addition to your "Franchise mode"(which is now just part of the newly created Connected Career mode" but to most it is just a gimmicky way of displaying the latest news in your current career. The menu interface is very laggy and unresponsive which to me is completely unacceptable considering we are now 7 years in to this console generation. Finding important features like updating your depth chart or editing your playbook is far more difficult that it needs to be. Looking at your player's stats requires pressing multiple buttons for such a simple task.
EA has decided to combine both offline and online franchise, Superstar mode, and Coach mode in to one mode called Connected Career. This allows you to create your league online or offline, allowing you to invite other players in to your league or keeping it solo and playing offline, as well as being a single player(Superstar) or a single coach(Franchise). I have read other players complain that Franchise mode is gone, but it is not. All the same franchise options are available in Madden 13, but under a different name. This is confusing but gamers will eventually figure it out. A big no-no for fans is that you cannot edit players' positions or ratings. Instead, player rating progress can be determined either manually or automatically and on a weekly basis. You gain XP by playing practices as well as in-game performances by the players. This XP can be used towards progressing your players in an RPG like style. You can do it yourself or let the cpu progress them yourself. Also lost in the Franchise shuffle is Fantasy Draft. Although I did not do many Fantasy drafts in the past, I do think it is unacceptable that EA took it out in this year's edition. It was a fan favorite and it will not please players. Online play is still present here either via co-op or versus. Lobbies are also still present but quick play is the only way to play ranked matches. In my opinion, I've experience lag in every game I've played. There's not much of a delay but the frame rate stutters throughout which to me makes online playable. I am doubting it's my internet connection but there's a chance it could be. I am not going to comment on Madden Moments, Ultimate team, or NFL Legend players as I have not played those.
Gameplay: I've always been adamant about EA stepping up their game and focusing more on the actual on-field game play which I believe they did this year. The new infinity engine leaves for a lot more kinds of tackles and group tackles as well as players running in to each other and reacting realistically. Not everything is realistic about the engine however and it certainly shows how raw the engine is. Players will end up in weird positions and fall over each other and even the running backs will in to their o-line and fall down. These faults not only detract from the immersion of the game, but affect the outcome of many plays throughout the game. Whether or not EA will patch the engine in the first update remains to be seen, but I think it'd be a good idea for them to do so. Also new with the gameplay is the ability for defenders to only be able to react to the ball within their vision. If their backs are turned away from the ball, they cannot react to it. This helps tone down the super-man linebackers and create more realistic AI. The passing game has improved and the left analog stick plays a more important role in the direction of your passes. Point the left stick towards where you want it to be placed towards a WR. I wanted to add that currently, stat tracking for tackles is a little glitchy right now. The game does not track assisted tackles, only solo even though there is a category for assist tackles in the game. This to me is an issue that needs to be addressed right away as I like for my players to have realistic stats. Many of past Madden problems still exist here unfortunately and it's not helping turn around the game's legacy of this generation. WR dropping easy balls, user-control over defensive players is still touchy, computer catching more INT's than my players, ineffective play-action plays, hard to control WR's when ball is in the air still exist in this game
Presentation: The game looks fine, but not great. There is a blur-effect that I believe is present to hide the mediocre looking textures of the player models. Grass looks better and the stadiums look good. The engine seems to run smoothly at all times and I think this is a plus considering past Madden games that seemed to stutter a lot. Kudos to the programming team in this respect. I think the game fell behind a step in the sound department. NFL music orchestra replaces a brand new soundtrack in the menus which to me is very disappointing and rather annoying. Keep this kind of music on the field, not the menus. The broadcast team is just mediocre this year in my opinion and the color commentator Phil Simms seems to complain more than praise about on field plays and decisions. They never get too excited over big plays and the commentary overall just feels mediocre. At least they rarely get the things they say wrong, unlike Collinsworth and Gus Johnson.
Conclusion: I know it sounds like I talked more about the negatives than positives, but I still think the game has improved the on-field action for the better, even if the engine is raw. The new features and menus will displease fans, but the game offers a lot more ways to play the game giving you more bang for your buck. Patience is required to fully enjoy Madden 13. Give it a chance and you'll get use to the new changes.
