I've lost track of the fannies ever since I lost interest in bandwagonesque close to 20 years ago. I've recently rediscovered them with the release of Shadows. I am presently surprised at how many great albums they've recorded in the past 20 years culminating in Shadows (the best yet). pure britpop gold. it's a triumph in the realm of working man's indie rock at its finest.
I picked this album up the friday after its release. Though it was a welcome addition to my record collection, it was definitely not as good as their first album. The songs seem a bit more personal rather than being a band effort. That being said, I can't seem to find a bad song on it. My favorite track on the album has to be "giving up the gun". This is more of a traditional pop song as opposed to the broken beats playful lyrics of their other songs. all in all its an album worth checking out.
What's great about it: "giving up the gun"
What's not so great: it's not as good as the debut
