Rush prove to be prog rock powerhouses

Rush really know how to deliver a masterpiece. The first track of this album is a seven part opus entitled "2112." It is a conceptual piece that tells an epic story of a futuristic society in which the main character finds and learns how to play the guitar. He appeals to the presiding "Priests of Syrinx" to let him teach the people of this society music. They deny his request and tell him that music is the reason behind the downfall of the former society of which they descend from. The story continues in such a cinematic and captivating way that you will be thinking of it in the same way you might think of a book you were reading. The other five tracks are equally as good, and demand to be heard as well. I truly believe that a better group of musicians has never come together; because each member of Rush utilizes the others talents to make a more cohesive record. They really pulled it off on 2112 and I hope that you will recognize the greatness of this album.
What's great about it: Truly moving musicianship, outstanding lyrics
What's not so great: none

AFI deliver one of the best albums I've ever heard

This album really is quintessential AFI. If you are a fan or are interested in becoming one, this album is a great place to start. The way this record flows from beginning to end is absolutely seamless, making it very easy to listen to, also making it easy to embrace. The twelve tracks mean so much to one another that it will be hard for a listener to skip songs because they fit together so well. That being said, let it be known that each song shines standing alone as well. If you purchase this record you will find yourself thinking of these songs all the time. Even with the dark sensibility of the album it is above all else catchy as a record can be. Not only that, it is indescribably moving. The songs make home in your heart and are there to stay.
I highly recommend this CD to anyone. Whether they are fans of AFI or not, any true fan of music can enjoy this album and commend AFI's efforts in making such a masterpiece.
What's great about it: Unrivaled lyrics, outrageous vocal range, great melody and awesome musicianship.
What's not so great: Everything is perfect! No complaints
I would recommend this to a friend!
