The guide: The first pages... the art is truly breathtaking. It always causes me pause. Then the book is a first class strategy guide as you'd expect from Prima. Welcome letter with code on the back for an eGuide and a multiplayer bonus pack. The field guide is novel, and a nice, brief read. The poster of the Andromeda galaxy is pretty, but what do we gamers generally do with such things? We don't know what to do. They serve no functional purpose, and though our best intentions is to frame it (it is really beautiful), more likely it will get squirreled away with the countless other art posters for which there is not enough wall space in the solar system. Finally, the pièce de résistance, the backpack: It is slick. It is made from futuristic* materials (*vinyl and rubber, etched, laser-cut, and supple to the touch) which give it that 2184 feel and look. There is one zippered compartment for do-dads, notes, or even the game in its case. Then another zippered space with padded dividers, intended for laptops or tablets. Holding this, and imagining space-age materials, you can see it coming right from an Initiative locker. Sadly the materials are NOT space-age and I fear that if I were to wear this for a day at a convention, the arm straps wouldn't survive until the end, OR would never be useable again. I say this hypothetically, because I wouldn't risk that. If Prima's guide book weren't so amazing, I might be let down by this purchase. $129? Prima could get the folks at ThinkGeek to build a backpack like the "Bag of Holding" (popular product, I have one), styled in the Initiative colors and textures, then I could take it to work or school every day, as well as carrying my tablet and that guide book for an evening's play at a pal's pad.

VAM in the retail industry stands for Value Added Material. Consumers call these Special Features. Sometimes, even the most extraordinarily well crafted and received show or movie needs a little support to increase its marketability. Having watched Daredevil, a remarkable series, well produced and acted, several times on Netflix, I've eagerly looked forward to the blu-ray release. The promise of the blu-ray format has always been the added storage/recording space for "Special Features," yet there are still companies which ignore this with thinking more suited to the days of the VCR. This is one such release. Since its announcement and subsequent appearance on store shelves, I have watched for the announcement of the NEXT release which will hold the behind the scenes (BTS) materials-- making-of, deleted scenes, interviews with the cast and writers/producers/directors for insight into the seeds of its inception, as well as where the series is headed. I am loving the new MARVEL BLOCK that is slowly materializing on Netflix (with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Punisher, Iron Fist, and what ever other surprises we may look forward to), but I am NOT, not, not, loving the way they are treating their home releases. Daredevil is a quality series top to bottom, with acting and writing of genuine substance. Come for the action, adventure, and colorful characters, stay for the love of the material, but hold onto your wallets until they show the fans a little respect and release a blu-ray set worthy of the word SUPER (hero).

I cannot think of a bad thing to say about this controller. Even the cable itself is rugged and looks sturdy enough to rope a goat (simulated, of course). It feels very comfortable in my hands with good grip and buttons and triggers placed perfectly. The shell/casing isn't of the satin style of the Elite, but doesn't draw sweat more than a standard controller either. The buttons and triggers are tight and precise. The height of the D-Pad is comfortable enough to use it on Mortal Kombat X without tearing up my thumb. The analog sticks are relatively unremarkable, but that's okay-- at least I have nothing BAD to say. Lastly, speaking of pure aesthetics, this controller is slick! The styling looks just as its name sounds: Liquid Metal; just under the clear surface of the primary shell, the metallic patterns look as though they could be liquid metal circulating throughout.
Simply put, this doesn't seem to improve on the video quality of the DVD version at all. Sooooo much could have been done to clean this up, and yet... nothing.
If you don't already own this on DVD and you can get it at a good price, go for it.
What's great about it: Same movie I've loved for decades.
What's not so great: No improvements in the picture quality that I could see.
Nothing tops the first film. Sadly, I had almost forgotten the plot of this one by the time I was ejecting it from the player. Still, good to know the rest of the story, and it fits with the others both thematically and concept. Just nothing really outstanding about it (or its predecessor).
What's great about it: Ties in with the others in the series
What's not so great: Somewhat forgetable plot and knotted story.
This, in my opinion, is a must own if you liked the first movie. Specifically because it is a PREQUEL. Yes, you heard it. Not only that, but it's really, really well done and fits right in with the first. You could make a great double feature out of these two, just make sure to watch this one FIRST.
What's great about it: Unrated.
What's not so great: This is the movie that they should have made first.
