Used this lens to photograph fireworks - it's sharp and fast - if only the photographer was - lol
worked with wide angle zooms before (Tokina 11 - 16) and the experience with this is on par.
for micro 4/3 great
PS price came down $100 from when I purchased it ... best buy refunded the difference
all in all well played for all

Good lens for wildlife

First thing to understand - this acts like a 600 mm lens, (300 mm 4/3 = 600 mm FF) - Have to use a tripod - especially if the subject is far. Once you get over the fact that you probably can't hand hold this lens, you begin the process of learning how to shoot with it. The results are nice. This lens is good on Olympus m 4/3 and pany's with internal IS - no IS on lens.

It works for me !!

As I have stated before - I am not a pro nor do I have intentions of becoming a pro -
I bought this lens because I didn't want to spend twice as much as the 24 - 70 mk II.
The lens is sharp, focuses very quickly and accurately and has fantastic build quality. Picture are beautifully crisp and they look professional in quality (I won't speak of my composition and insult the pro's).
It's not the heavy and guess what it's an "L" lens - no more needs to be said.
What's great about it: S.H.A.R.P. !!!!!
What's not so great: expensive

Have a t3i - great marriage - can be used off camera as it work really fantastically in the slave mode.
If you've never used a speedlite - go to youtube and get some training - Michael Andrews has a good instructional course -
It does so much more than just sitting in your hot shoe and replacing your on camera flash.
Rechargeable AA batteries a good addition almost a must.
Hoped this helped -
enjoy it
Peace
What's great about it: Size and build quality
What's not so great: It's can not work as a master

Take soft, stylized pictures with the low aperture range of this Canon EF-S IS lens. The inner focusing system and image stabilizer add control and help with automatic focusing. Get detailed shots from a distance and images that make an impact with the long-range focal length function of this Canon EF-S IS lens.

Not a Pro-Lens...but I'm no longer a Pro

It's not an L lens - that being said, It's a great walk around - In good light and with an f stop of greater than 6 the image is quite sharp...I was pleasantly surprised. If you shoot jpg - I found I had to adjust the sharpness and contrast on my t3i - color saturation is very good but not great - in RAW, no problem - PP is easy and not that necessary. Did a comparison with my 70-200 F4 IS L lens. It held up pretty well. Should you buy it ... that's a personal choice.
On an Crop sensor it's about a 30 - 220 comparable focal length - not bad for one lens.
Whatever choice you make, I wish you luck and hope this review helped.
What's great about it: Focal Length Range, Image Quality
What's not so great: Have to shoot at f6 or higher to get the colors to snap

My first L lens. It is an Indulgence. Thank you wife.
It is so good, one can get spoiled. One can see why a pro would need tools like this. They need fast, sharp and dependable equipment - that's what this offers. Does an amateur need this - I'll let you decide. I am not a pro and have no intention of becoming one. This is an indulgence but it makes taking pictures even more of a pleasure.
Three letters can be used to describe this lens -- W.O.W. !!!!
hope this is helpful
