Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are a riot. The two play longtime pals who work together in a divorce mediation firm. They’re happy enough in their chosen profession but what they truly love is wedding season. For a dozen or so years they’ve carried on a tradition innovated by an old friend of Vaughn’s by the name of Chaz. When spring rolls around, they make the rounds popping in uninvited at one ceremony after another to celebrate that most sacred of unions.
The idea is they concoct elaborate back stories and ingratiate themselves with the guests by faking tears during the nuptials (with a little help from Visine), dancing with the flower girl and doing balloon tricks for the kids. They’ve got the thing down to a science and are mathematically at least as likely to get lucky on any given wedding night as the groom.
But then the two infiltrate a high society affair put on by a top government official (Christopher Walken) and something unexpected happens. OK, it’s precisely what we expect: One of the pair, Wilson, falls head over heels for one of Walken’s daughters. It’s real love and he can’t bear the thought of leaving her behind. And then there is the Secret Service. The fact that Wilson is not who he says he is. And the fact that her dad’s one of the most powerful men in the country. Not to mention Christopher Walken. I cant give away any more of the plot so watch it.

In "The Iceman," Michael Shannon, who plays a real life New Jersey hitman ..Kuklinski occupies parallel universes. In one, he works for Gambino family associate Roy DeMeo. Ray Liotta is in typically unnerving form as the Jersey mobster who initiates Kuklinski into his gang with a mix of smiling charm and abject cruelty.
In the other world, Kuklinski dotes on wife Deborah (Winona Ryder) and gently engages their two daughters. He's built a refuge and guards it with vigilance.
Chris Evans does a surprisingly dark turn for a guy owning the "Captain America" role. He plays Mr. Freezy, the long-haired contract killer based on hitman Robert Prongay, who keeps his victims in the freezer of his ice-cream truck before disposing of them.
DeMeo hired Freezy for the same job he'd given Kuklinski. The rivals realize neither is fully trusted and begin working together without DeMeo's knowledge.
All the performances in "The Iceman" command our attention. Ryder finds truth in the various modes of Deborah's life with Kuklinski: denial perhaps, a bit of fear as things begin to unravel, but mostly loving trust.

Blah movie..not funny

This was not worth to be released as a summer comedy. I am so glad that I did not go to a theater to watch this one. The comedy is cringe worthy and uncomfortable. The lead characters have good chemistry. However the movie is predictable and unfunny and completely passable.

A bit of a mess but really funny

It is the story of a Tammy whose day goes from bad to worse and life goes helter-skleter. McCarthy is such a force of nature and so amazingly talented that she can take any movie or scene and make it so genuinely funny that you cannot end up not liking her. So when you have nothing better to do and dont want a heavy drama to watch and just want to have a silly time at the end of the day watch this. If more people could be like her and be able to laugh more on themselves we would have a better world.

I love this movie and the singing is of course awesome. My wife and I were thoroughly entertained. Although I grew up listening to them I really did not know their story. This is not some boring music movie. Please dont compare the stage production with the movie. They are two different entertainment medias. Both excellent! I will own this DVD.

Not a Drag (on)!!
on November 13, 2014

It does not drag on (pun intentional) in any place and was paced extremely well written and well paced.
While the original movie benefited from narrative simplicity and an admirable lack of villains, this one paints the screen with too many characters and frequent diversions from the main story, but nevertheless serves up a bountiful and sugary feast for the 3-D-bespectacled eyes.
