This album ROCKS!!!! Hard rocking from the start. Glen Hughes May be old but you sure can't tell it.The man still has the great voice & scream from the Deep Purple days. Joe bonamassa's guitar playing on this album is very heavy & loud.Jason bonhams confidence as a drummer is on a high & i'm sure playing with zeppelin didn't hurt that any.And to think the whole album was recorded & finished in 13 day's.But what a album from the opening title track Glen is screaming I am a messenger & this is my prophecy Like a rock n roll preacher. full of great song choruses like in one last soul, Or in great divide. Or Sweet sister jane with Sounds Of AC/DC blasting you away. If you like hard rock this is the album you've been waiting for.
This cd is his newest one.The opening track Steal your heart away set's the Hard, heavy & bluesy tone right away. But it's different then any of his other albums. He does a great job of not copying himself. There is allso a song with his idol BB King. The music on this cd is all type's of rock & blue's with a new twist. There is your hard & heavy rock/blues ,Classic Chicago style blues & Then something different. I really beleave he is paving the way for something new but with a great mix & tribute to the old.
Great album! he get's better everyone. This one is has a story line it really is the ballad of john henry. But all his influences really show up on this one. You can hear how much he love's & listens to his favorite guitar player's. the opening & title track you can hear Jimmy page & Led Zeppilin just oozing out & then on the song stop You can hear everything from BB King to Clapton & himself. even though he can sound like other guitar player's he add's his own touch to where i dont beleave there is anyone one else like him. If your a guitar player or have a vast knowledge of blues/rock music over the year's this is your new guitar hero!
I bought this cd because of 2 thing's. I kept hearing about this fantastic guitar player named joe bonamassa & i listened to some stuff online & heard a absolutely incendiary version of Led Zeppelin's Tea for one. When the cd got here i put it on right away & was sucked in immediately. This man has done his homework.with ease he can play like BB King, Eric clapton,Jeff Beck,Jimmy page & himself. Then while reading the credit's found out that Jason Bonham Played the drums on the whole album. If you are a fan of the blue's & love classic rock you will enjoy this very much & his other albums as well.
