Classic album, classically bad remaster

This is a remastered re-issue. It would be great if they used the original master for this re-issue, but they didn't. Instead, it was remastered to add loudness and subtract dynamic range and sound quality. It sounds very similar to the Crue's latest release, which also has a brickwalled lack of dynamics master.
You are better of trying to find the original pressing of this record, I did, and the difference is night and day.
What's great about it: Classic Crue Album on Viny
What's not so great: Brickwalled master.

Another victim of the Loudness War
on March 1, 2010

Although I am excited that vinyl has made a "comeback" and many new releases such as this one are being released on vinyl, I would almost prefer if it was not released on vinyl if the same over compressed master is used on the vinyl release that was used for the digital release. Using the same "loud" master with no dynamic range defeats the purpose of releasing it on vinyl.
The music itself is not bad, but it's enjoyment is seriously compromised by the mastering.
I was hoping releases like GNR's "Chinese Democracy" and the White Stripes's "Icky Thump" would end the loudness war, at least on vinyl. Go ahead and destroy dynamic range for I-Tunes, but please leave it alone on vinyl.
What's great about it: Overall a solid album.
What's not so great: Unlistenable.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Its a good album. It is mastered correctly too. Pick it up on vinyl and listen to it the way it was meant to be heard!

If you have a decent sound system, this table will not do it justice and you are better off spending the extra money on something else. There is major feedback problem between the table and my powered subwoofers, and it could have something to do with the very plastic and cheap construction. Other than the deafening feedback at higher volumes, it does sound good though, so for some sytems it could perform well.
What's great about it: Comes in a box
What's not so great: makes CD's sound better than Vinyl

Is/Has vinyl making a comeback?

I have just noticed that Best Buy sells vinyl, and there are quite a few on this site. Wondering if it is or has made a comeback?
It has made a comeback, although it is still a niche format. It will never again be the mainstreem method of music listening. I believe 2-3 million new vinyl LPs were sold last year. It is a decent sum but only a very small percentage of total music sales (cds/digital)

I did not grow up with vinyl, the time had past before my venture into music. I had always heard vinyl had that certain sound that many preferred to CD. A new album from my favorite band was released on vinyl in 2008 so I decided to give it a try. Since then, I no longer have a CD player hooked up to my stereo. I won't get into whether is sounds better or worse, but it does sound different, and I prefer that sound. It is also a much more tangible way of listening to music. The listener is more involved and it is more inviting. As such, I have not listened to music this much since I was a young lad.

With that said, it is not for everyone. It is the most expensive way to listen to music combined with the least convienent way to listen to music. I enjoy placing the stylus on the record, getting up to turn the record, trying different cartridges/styli to tweak the sound, etc. But for many, that is an annoyance. You also have to invest a decent sum on a good turntable and a good cartridge in order to hear the benefits of vinyl. The cheap plastic turntables that are often sold are junk, and you're better off staying with a digital format. Much research on turntables/cartidges is also required to make sure you get the benefit of vinyl. Not to mention vinyl itself costs more than CDs/downloads.

Do you sell blank CDG's?

A CDG is a Karaoke CD and I need a balnk one
CDG is no different than a regular CD. You need to have a burning program that can recognize the file formats of the CDG and burn them appropriately. I have burned numerous karaoke CDs on to regular blank CDs with no issues. www.powerkaraoke.com is one of those programs. There is a free trial I believe.
