Best of the Android Tablets

The Tab S3 is the best Android tablet I've used so far, but still has a few nagging issues.
First, the build quality is absolutely amazing. This is the best tablet I've ever handled and the construction is perfect. The front and back are glass and the camera no longer protrudes out the back. The sides are a gently curved metal. Everything feels great to hold. The black model does, however, smudge like crazy on the back, so I find myself wiping it down occasionally.
The star of the show here is the amazing display. It's tack-sharp and has incredible color and contrast. It supports HDR video, too. While HDR is only available while playing back from Amazon Video for now, it future proofs the tablet, as does the ample 4GB of ram and decent processor.
Also impressive is the charging time via USB-C Fast Charging. It charges very quickly, even when the screen is on and set to almost near brightness.
The rear camera is decent and includes a flash this time around. It is also capable of shooting 4K video! Luckily you can add a micro SD card to hold all of those 4K videos,
Some of the cooler touches include built in magnets to hold the Samsung Book Cover and Keyboard on (no more snap-on gromets on the back!) and pogo pins on the side to pair with the keyboard instantly.
The coolest feature of all is the inclusion of the S-Pen. This guy has been a pleasure at meetings where I can jot down notes as easily as I can on paper. The pen included with the tablet is longer than the phone's and is more natural feeling. The tip is imposssibly thin and allows me to write with total accuracy. I just love it! While there's no stylus holder on the tablet my keyboard case (sold separately) has a loop to hold it.
So what's not to love? Not much! I am disappointed in the quad speakers. The tablet decides which pair to use depending on orientation, which is very neat and allows for unobstructed sound in both portrait and landscape mode. They sound very thin though, almost shrill. They're acceptable at low volume and have incredible separation but are by no means room filling.
The fingerprint reader is handy but seems to struggle with my thumbprint, an issue I did not have on my S2 Tab.
The biggest disappointment is that mine has a stuck bright pixel right in the middle of the screen. It's only apparent when I turn the brightess all te way down and I'm in a dark room though. Still, it's kind of a bummer on a flagship tablet.
Overall this thing has been a blast to play with and a very enjoyable way to consume media and work on work-related stuff here and there. It stands out from the crowded Android tablet field by a longshot!

The Best Mesh Solution So Far

I'm graduating from another mesh solution to the Velop and so far I'm highly impressed. My home is set up with a basement and two above-ground levels. I've tried routers with a bunch of antennas and then another mesh solution. Of the three types, the Velop has been the best by far.
I have one station on each floor, enveloping the house (hey, I get the name now!) with strong WiFi. I was sure to put them where I used to have dead spots in coverage in the past. Now that each floor has coverage there are no more dead spots!
The units themselves look nice, which is also, in a way, key to good coverage. Since they look unassuming and hide cables so well I was able to put them out in plain sight where they do the most good, instead of hiding them.
There are a couple of things I wish I could change. Each has only two Ethernet ports. This means the station that plugs into the WAN only has one port open. My past routers have had at least four ports open, and I've used them for wired connections in the basement. Now I have to use a hub, requiring a more complex setup.
Also, the AC adaptors are oddly shaped, so they take up more than one spot on the power strip. Considering the fact I have to add a hub on the base I'm struggling to find outlet space for everything.
These are minor issues compared to having dead spots around the house. I'll take better coverage any day!

Does What It's Supposed to Do

This is a very basic dongle that delivers on the mission of providing power while using Lightning headphone. No issues whatsoever on my wife's iPhone 7.
While there will undoubtedly be several variations on this theme as other manufacturers make them, you can never go wrong with Belkin cables. This one feels built to withstand being thrown in a bag and knocked around.

Great for Pet Owners

We had an older steam mop that ended up leaking and dying. We got by without it for a while but once we got a new kitten we knew we needed one again.
This one was much easier to assemble than the last one and has been more effective so far. Our kitten has fine hair, which just kind of swirls around when we sweep. The pads do a nice job of trapping it. And the steam is great for picking up food messes and shoeprints. Mine, not the cat's.

Exactly what I've been waiting for

I've been hoping for something like this since the Apple Watch came out. There have been similar power packs, but they always required using your own AW adaptor and having to manage the cable internally, making them too bulky.
This has a built-in inductive charger and is magnetic just like the Apple one. You do not need to use one of your cables. It also has a USB port for charging other devices like an iPhone.
My only complaint is that it's a little bigger and heavier than a larger capacity pack that I own, but it makes up for that in convenience. It is very well built and looks nice.

Great Dryer, But Overpriced

First off, this is a great hair dryer. Or so my wife tells me. I have no hair, so I have to go off her impressions.
It's a little bigger than the average travel hair dryer but blows harder and hotter than a normal full size dryer. There are controls to change both the air flow and heat and a momentary cold button on the handle.
The build quality is incredible. If a luxury car manufacturer made hair dryers this is what it would look like. It's solid and has a nice paint finish.
The magnetic attachments are unique and switch quickly. It even comes with a rubber pad to set it on so it's paint doesn't get scratched.
Is it worth the money? Probably not. But if you're looking for the best hair dryer you can get and money is no object, this is the one to get.

Great Hair Clippers

My maternal grandfather cursed me with terrible hair genes, so several years ago (and well before my time) I developed thinning hair and patchy baldness on top. The rest of my hair grows quickly, so I need to shave my head a lot.
I've been using heavy plug-in professional clippers for the most part.
This clipper has been a pleasure to use. They charge quickly and then do as good a job of clipping my hair as the plug-in type. I use them bare with none of the attachments for that.
These come with a variety of attachments for clipping hair to various lengths and also some for shaving and removing nose and ear hair. I'll be using the latter next. I can't grow hair on top of my head but inside my nose is no problem.
Overall these are easy to use and seem well built. Don't be fooled by the stainless look. These seem to be plastic or some kind of very thin metal and are lighter than they appear. The blades are stainless, however.

If you own a Sonicare toothbrush, you know how good these heads are. They're soft without being too soft and do a great job of cleaning.
I like that these have a wear indicator; once the brush turns totally white, it's time for new ones.

Good Toothbrush, Invasive App

As a toothbrush I'm really happy with the Sonicare Flexcare. I've always liked Sonicare toothbrushes and this one performs really well. There are three settings of increasing strength, and I've been using the "white" or middle setting. This one seems to clean more thoroughly than my older Sonicare.
I also like the travel case it comes with. It's sturdy, if not a little bulky.
My main issue is with the app. It asks a lot of questions during setup. Some are to help tracking the way you brush, but some are obviously for marketing purposes. Indeed, Philips has been emailing me with "tips" the last few days, which I'm sure will evolve into reminders to buy more brush heads and then more Philips products.
Another thing I didn't factor in is that if I want to use the app to guide my brushing I have to have my phone in the bathroom with me. It's very neat to see how it keeps track of how hard I'm brushing or if I'm going over certain areas too fast, but to I neeeeed to know that? Is it worth the extra price? One thing I did learn is that I've been brushing too fast. After a couple of sessions with the app I was able to spend a more appropriate amount of time brushing.

The Gold Standard in Photo Editing

Adobe continues to evolve their flagship consumer photo editing and organization app with PS Elements 15.
Installation was quick and simple. Included with the disc is a note that you can download the software if you don't have an optical drive. Simply use the serial number on the disc if you do so. I'm happy to see that Adobe still provides a physical copy. Some months I get close to my bandwidth limit with my ISP, so I prefer to use physical media whenever I can.
This version comes with a number of new features, including one that removes camera shake blur (a welcome feature with my Nikon P900 superzoom!) and one that can add smiles to people in photos when they're not smiling. How it works is something akin to magic. It doesn't look unnatural at all.
I have a huge digital photo library, and there are helpful features for organizing like facial recognition.
If you need good consumer-grade photo editing features Photoshop Elements is really the only way to go!

Sizing. I own the first generation turtle beach headset 600 stealth and the same part on the head set keeps breaking.. would love to upgrade to this model but concerned about default head sizing .. the band is to small for my 7 year old.
These seem really tight on me, and my head is too small for most fitted caps.

They pair with Xbox the way the controllers pair, so I don't think they use standard Bluetooth for pairing. I would assume not

These are around ear. They completely seal your ears inside rather than sit on them. So I guess over-ear?

These get plenty loud for my middle-aged ears.

Does this come with a storage case? Manual states that it does, but I did not receive one.
Mine did not. From the picture, I was trying to figure out if they meant the black Styrofoam it was packed in. Mine packing materials broke as I tried to pull out the chopper and immediately crumbled into annoying foam "pebbles" though.

It does not use the accessory connector, so it needs to be charged. It uses Bluetooth.

Yes it does. It takes a very small 4.5v plug. Something like that may be difficult to source. I wish they had just set it up to run off a 5v USB source
