Not really all that compatable

If you want a very nice view finder like the ones we had as children this is the device for you! It has average graphics in comparison to most devices available today. You can see the lines and the pixels without difficulty. If you look past the pixels you are tethered by a cord and the computer requirements are rather high. This is not a novice user product and it's going to be tough for intermediate users to crack.
In order for you to get things to run outside of the Oculus Rift universe you will need to buy third party software that cracks the other programs and tricks them into working on the Rift. You also must have the Rift store open in order for it to run anything. There are no standalone drivers every time you put them on it will automatically run the store program.
Mine came from the factory with a bad dongle for the Xbox 1 controller. I figured I'd just give them a call and see if they could help me out. Just one little problem, they don't have a phone number that you can contact them on. When I went to see online help I found pages of horror stories of people waiting weeks for a resolution to their problems.
I honestly wanted this to work even just a little but it seems like a marketing ploy to me as during the initial setup they ask for a credit card number. I'm just going to sit this one out and wait for a few versions to come down the pike and as soon as it's mainstreamed into the computer world I'll buy back in mine is going back to the store for a refund.

$300.00 For earbuds?
on December 8, 2015

It took me some time to gather the courage to get the $130.00 for the standard Bose headset. I discovered that they weren't machine washable. So I went back to the $12.00 sets but that was like getting out of a brand new Mercedes sports car and going to a suncompact witout AC.
When I was in Scotland last time I found I had a few hundred £ left in my wallet and didn't really want to take the beating in currency exchange so in the airport duty free I went on a shopping trip. I bought an Around Ear set of Bose noise canceling headphones and was amazed that the jet engine sounds went completely away. Since then I've owned 3 other pairs of noise canceling earbuds and they can't compare with the around ear. They're fine for a central air conditioner but not much more.
The QC20 (SMSG) is in a completely diffrent world. Unlike the standard Bose earbuds that end in a tube the QC20 have a small comfortable stopper at the base. This modification makes the noise canceling spectacular, even better than many other around ear sets. This feature alone makes it worth the price. The microphone quality is very good when inside I haven't tried it in the car with the top down yet but my car is equipped with Bluetooth.
These earbuds will cancel road noise inside your car and it tends to dull down my wife's voice and I have to take one ear out to hear her. I would suggest that Bose move the noise control sensor a bit further up the cord as it's only 2 inches from the jack and makes it cumbersome. When in a quiet room with them on it does produce some low level static. I don't know if this is a defect or just normal operatiion.
The battery has a very Ling life and came out of the box with a full charge. I slept with them playing music for 3 nights before I woke up and noticed that I could hear other noises. It took about 45 minutes to recharge them completely. I had the music on relatively low and they were comfortable. The first night the left ear came out twice. They lay flat so they don't poke into my ear. The sound quality is poor with noise canceling turned off.
Bose has outdone themselves and I hope to see the price drop. While they're good for the executive they're well out of the price range of most people. This is an awesome gift for the traveler! They fit in your pocket and since nearly all airlines have switched to the standard jack they work just fine.

A well above average tablet!

I have an aging Galaxy Note 10.1 (the first edition) that still meets my needs but when they announced the 2014 edition and I saw the scratches on the case and how worn the edges were I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger and get the 2014 Edition. They have made some serious changes to the tablet. It is much closer to being a functional personal computer than a tablet. This thing has power to spare and the display is nothing less than spectacular.
To test the new toy I decided to treat it like one and I put several games on it. I know this will offend some of you purist out there that this isn’t a toy but I like to test it with games because they use so much of the resources. This brings me to the downside. The games make it run warm not overly so but enough to let you know that overclocking isn’t a good idea. Not that I would overclock it until the manufacturer’s warranty expires.
They have done away with the broad plug that we have all come to know and love and replaced it with a micro SD. My only complaint about the micro SD placement is that it is on the bottom so if you are checking your portfolio in bed you will have to unplug it before use. The battery life is horrible when playing at full load if you get two hours you’ve done something. The recharge time is slow and they still have a very short cord. I would recommend a USB extension cord as a purchase with the unit so you can use it while it’s charging.
As of now the 2014 edition is only available in the wireless version and I don’t know if they have plans for a 4G version as yet but I’m pretty sure it’s only a matter of time. It seems to have better range than my old 10.1 off my router and downloads seem to be a little faster. It runs applications quite well and streaming video isn’t a problem for this beast. I won’t bore you with the tech specs on it since they are plastered all over the internet.
The display is crystal clear and they have moved the speakers from the face to the sides. The sound quality is fair but for a tablet that is high marks. They have changed the interface to more like one of the Galaxy S4 phones. You have the center button and the other 2 that are touch. One thing about my old tablet I didn’t like was that the stylus only fit one way in the lower right corner. The new stylus fits two ways in the upper right corner. It is also thinner and fits more snug than the old one. While holding it over the screen it displays a small cursor that makes it easy to know where you are going to touch.
The unit is sensitive and often I find that when I tap an application icon if the stylus slips even a little it will turn the page. One of the drawbacks of the note is that only the Samsung stylus works on it. My old one works on the new one and the opposite is true but a generic stylus is out. Since they supply one that isn’t a problem until you lose it. It responds well to finger commands as well and doesn’t seem to mind fat fingers. The surface of the tablet is extremely sensitive and often times while holding it and using it I find that it opens other screens.
The ability to multitask and have several windows open at one time puts this tablet over the top. Yes you can have several documents open at the same time you are surfing the web. This is a good business tablet as well as a home use. The micro USB attachment lets you charge it in your car if you have a phone with a micro USB. The next version I would like to see the charger point moved to one side or the top this way you can use it in bed while it’s charging. I know it is a tablet and you can flip it but it moves the controls to the top since they don’t travel with the screen.
The eye tracking feature needs a little work but it does work for the most part. You have to be in good light for it. The GPS works well enough and pairing it to Bluetooth devices is easy enough. In short this is an awesome tablet but it is a bit on the expensive side I got the 32 gigabyte version because you double the space. It still has my general complaint that I have about other tablets. There is no upgrading the unit and once the battery goes you have to send it in for a new one. Since this unit goes through the battery so quickly if you are using it in the field I would recommend you bring a portable charger with you.
Remember I’m rating this as a tablet and not a personal computer so I give it a solid four stars and for ease of use it also gets four stars. For some the stylus is a pain but I kind of like having it right there all in one package. It also does things that the generic ones don’t. Next time you’re in the store give it a look and play with it. You may just take it home.
I dropped in a decent 64 gigabyte micro SD card and I got the USB adapter for ten more dollars. I also bought the Belkin case and it works.

The Astro A50 Gaming headset
I have read a number of reviews that have given both stellar and crash and burn reviews of this headset. When I see this it intrigues me so I went out and bought a set. The staff at the store agreed to break normal policy and let me try them on in store because if they weren’t comfortable out of the box I was going to return them. I will not spend that much money and have a headache as a reward. The set is very comfortable which is critical to gamers. There is a bit of extra pressure at the bottom but I’m confident that as the set breaks in that will be eliminated.
Onward to the un-boxing. The box is neat but I have to admit that the box isn’t the product. The first thing I noticed was that the box lacks an instruction manual. After contacting them I discovered that there wasn’t even a PDF with instructions or explanations. I guess that Astro feels that the clients are psychic and will instantly have a full understanding of this headset. Another drawback is that Astro doesn’t have a tech support number. All support will be via generated e-mail tickets. They do however have live chat with experts if the expert is unable to help then you will have to wait 2 days for an e-mail response.
The sound! In a single word, spectacular. These are studio quality phones that offer a 7.1 surround sound. Having said that most people have no clue what the difference between 7.1, 5.1 and stereo are. I will over simplify it by saying that stereo has two speakers generally that will give you left and right in front of you. A 5.1 system will generally have 5 speakers. There will be three speakers in front (Left, right and center) and two speakers at your side to give you the “Zing” sounds and a little of what is happening behind you. The 7.1 will have seven speakers, In front you will have three, (Left, right and center) then in the back there will be four speakers, (the pair at your side but two that are behind you.).
I rather expect that 7.1 will become the horror film maker’s pipe dream. This gives you sounds both front and rear. All of these can use a sub woofer which gives bass and can literally be placed just about anywhere since it is non directional sound. Now you have the extreme basics of the different types of sound.
In order to get the optimal 7.1 sound from your headset you will need an optical out on the device you plug into. It is delivered by light and Astro was kind enough to provide a short cable for this purpose. The fact that it is short isn’t a bad thing since it attaches directly to the transmitter. You have Bluetooth distance from the transmitter to the headset so that all depends on how many walls and objects you have placed in the path. Astro has used a frequency that is outside most cordless phones and routers so that should eliminate the interference.
The transmitter has two buttons the power and the Dolby digital buttons. The headset has several buttons and a single light. The light for me has only shown three colors. The three colors are, White for pairing with the transmitter, Orange for charging and normal use and finally Red for telling you that your battery is dead. Four hours of charge will get you ten to twelve hours of play time. The charging cable is about two feet long and this is a problem for us PC users. On their website they offer extended length cords for an additional fee but I say just include a six foot cord and offer longer lengths.
The cord will allow you to play and charge at the same time. Due to the fact that the USB cord and digital cord are short coupled with the short charging cord this makes it nearly impossible to play and charge out of the box. The next thing is software and firmware. I will give Astro credit for addressing common issues they have a firmware update available that addresses many issues. You will have to go to their website and it will update both devices. You will have to pair the devices after the update. When pairing you have to hold the power buttons of both devices until they flash white. You can do them one at a time once they stop flashing you are ready to play.
Another complaint I have frequently heard was that people using the online chat programs can hear only every other word that the players speak. So I joined a gaming session with my fourteen year old and they said as much. I am not one to take this laying down after all this is a three-hundred dollar headset it should be like a brand new Mercedes. I found that it is more like an accessory to a brand new Mercedes. I was using the first available USB port which just happened to be a 2.0 slot. Using it in local record mode I heard all of the words but it was like the volume was being adjusted up and down. In a chat program the down parts won’t be broadcast but the up will. By transferring the unit to a USB 3.0 slot (Which is faster and accepts more data at a time.) this fixed that problem completely.
Onward to the performance. I tried this first with music and being somewhat old school I popped in Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon CD and started listening. There are some words in the disk which sound like someone in the studio was too far from a microphone and talking in the background. This is part of the music and for the first time I could hear them clearly! I actually know all of what they said. I am sure Rodger Waters of Pink Floyd won’t be happy but hey he put them in there. The music was superb. I switched modes on the headset to bass boost and dropped in one of my daughters pop/hip hop CDs and the bass was astounding. I didn’t feel it vibrating through my chest but they haven’t created a set that can do that.
In game I stood in a room in World of Warcraft where an NPC (Non Player Character or one of the in game toons) was pacing back and forth. I closed my eyes and placed myself in the NPC’s path. When I closed my eyes I could hear them behind me then beside and finally in front of me. I also tried in several first person shooters and I could tell by sound where the snipers were with the set in high treble mode. This is a gaming headset for serious gamers. I have no doubt that you will see a number of these at the international gaming contests.
After a long conversation with the company I found that there is software for adjusting the equalizer and other features in the works that will be available for download in the near future. To me it seems like this product was rushed to market before they had everything done and researched. I am comparing the sound to several different high end earphones to include Bose and some that professional artist use when recording and when I say they are studio quality I know what that is.
This begs the question should you plunk down three-hundred dollars for them and I say that you have to review your hardware first if you are looking at it for a PC. If your sound card integrated or not supports 7.1 and has an optical out you have a chance. In addition to the optical out you will need a USB 3.0 slot and I would suggest a beefy processor and ram combination this headset will blow your mind! If you have an older PC and lack these features but still want the sound I have heard that the Astro A40s will be just fine for you but they are wired.
I give them a recommend if you have the hardware to support it but a do not recommend for everyone. I would like to see Astro get their act together and not rush another product until they have everything ready to go. So overall I have to give this a 2 and ¾ stars. Once Astro ships with a 5 to 6 foot charging cord and a manual and the software this could go as high as 4 stars but the price and the requirements to use it hurts its chances for a fifth star.
What's great about it: Spectacular sound
What's not so great: Astro rushed this to the market before it was finished.

I received a great deal of criticism for my iPad 2 Review But Samsung seem to have taken some of that criticism to heart and built a better mouse trap. The Galaxy Tab 2 sports SD memory access and supports Flash. It has USB access and several other features that the iPad 2 and the iPad 3 do not. All three are excellent tablets but I have to say that this one seems to be better. The front facing stereo speakers are quite good for their size the Galaxy Tab 10.1 had side facing speakers. The addition of an SD Card reader makes it a more secure device for transferring data. I have no complaint about the graphics and there isn't a major heat issue. It is a bit pricy but you are getting quality goods.
In future models I would like to see upgradeable memory and battery access.
What's great about it: Exelent graphics and decent battery life
What's not so great: Can't upgrade and you can't change the battery

The iPod classic 160 GIG is for those with more music, movies and books. My father is 82 and thinks that a computer is solely used for solitaire. He does however love to listen to his audio books. Currently he has over 200 books in his collection and it is growing. Teaching an 82 year old to use any electronic device that involves more than pushing one button is a chore. It only took me a few hours before he was an addict. I also have one but I like to listen to music and plug it into my Car or in the RV. The sound quality that it produces is digital so I can’t complain. With the music and books that I currently have on mine I could listen for over 32 days and I still have 25% of the space left.
The ear buds that come with any of the iPod products lack bass and the mid-ranges are somewhat tinny. If you have an ear for music I would highly recommend that you invest in a better pair of ear buds or if you really love your music you can invest in a set of around ear headphones that offer 7.1 surround sound. Many of the audio book sights now offer several ranges of quality. Generally speaking the higher the quality the larger the file and if you are just listening to audio books you aren’t interested in booming bass and the zings. The iPod classic can also play movies for you. If you look at many of the Blu-Ray products they now come with a digital copy. You can watch the movies on the small screen and hear them with high sound quality but it does tend to wear at your battery.
Overall I have to give the iPod Classic 5 of 5 stars but the ear buds that come with it are 3 of 5 stars. I highly recommend you get a plastic cover to protect your investment. The plastic case has prevented the destruction of mine several times.
What's great about it: It holds a great deal of data
What's not so great: The stock ear buds arent high quality

This is an excellent keyboard that fills several needs on the market. It has quiet, gentle and BACKLIT keys! Rechargeable internal batteries ARE included. Yes this is a cordless keyboard that lights up! It is ideal for laptop and notebook users who complain about the size of their keyboards. It is great for use on a standard PC and has large letters for people who may have a hard time seeing. It has excellent response time and seems to function well in the same room with other wireless devices. The battery life seems to be good after the initial charge. It is on par with my wired gaming keyboard for response time.
The keyboard senses motion over the keys before you touch it. This is very nice feature that saves on the battery. I had no problem installing it on several systems without the need for drivers. I installed it on an old laptop with Windows XP and on several other systems up to Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. The drivers are probably best if you just download them from Logitech’s website. The ones that come with it are also serviceable. After several days of continuous use there were no complaints or failures. The battery life is more than adequate for normal computer use. Gamers may want to run with the cord installed or at least make sure it is on charge when not in use. I charged it and left it for 4 days and it retained the charge so it will be fine in the office for a weekend.
My only complaint is that it comes with a wire that uses a USB port that is there for the sole purpose of charging the battery. It doesn’t allow for wired use so if you are running short on USB ports you may have to wait or remove another device while it charges. This is a very small complaint as most computers have ports to spare.
What's great about it: Easy to install and easy to use and it is backlit!
What's not so great: The cord is strictly for recharging.

Well I waited for13 years and I think they need to take this one back to the developers and rewrite it. R rated video and language some of which is funny. You can't do your own thing you have to follow the game and no backtracking. Spoiler alert you can't save the girls from the aliens. It seems like they researched the prior limits and pushed them a notch higher or lower depending on your viewpoint . The humor is really what you would expect from middle school. The graphics get a C+ and you had better have a powerful machine to run it.
What's great about it: It is finally here.

Cutting edge obsolete

1: You can't upgrade the hardware period.
2: Aparently there will be no flash EVER!
3: Any and all service that is needed to include the replacement of the batteries must be done by Apple.
4: Since you can't upgrade the hardware you are stuck with 3G even though the wireless providers are spending billions upgrading their towers to 4G. Since 4G can be up to 10 times faster than 3G why buy the iPad2 when they will be forced to make the iPad3 in a few months.
5: No USB or SD memory ports. Any and all data must be sent Through wireless or through a direct connection to the computer.
New tablets are flooding the market and iPad won't even be a contender in a few months.
What's great about it: Nice display
What's not so great: The rest

Apple wont change
on April 30, 2011
Posted by: Davinger

Apple could have hit one out of the park on the iPad 2 but alas they have decided that they wish to remain the proprietary snobs we all have come to know and love. The iPad 2 is the best piece of bleeding edge obsolete technology that money can buy. Yes I called it both bleeding edge and obsolete in the same sentence. The reason it is obsolete is that it is no secret that every cellular provider is rushing to upgrade their towers to the fourth generation or 4G systems. Both Verizon and AT&T are throwing billions into getting their systems up. The difference between 3G and 4G is significant enough to perhaps wait a few months. Since the iPad 2's hardware is not upgradeable you will be stuck with 3G for the life of the unit.
Another problem is that there is no way to upgrade or change the system once you get it without voiding your warranty. You can’t even change the battery! There is no USB port nor is there a memory card reader so most of your data transfers will have to be wireless. The lack of flash support is a major turn off as a large percentage of the most used sights on the internet use flash and your iPad 2 can’t access them. It has limited java support from what I could find but there were a great many sights I couldn’t access.
Apple has done is what they always do, they wet your whistle with their product and then someone else comes along with something similar but does all you want and Apple is left out in the cold. The only really successful device I have seen leave Apple recently has been the iPod. I love mine yet I find that I use other sites for the contents than iTunes. If I want books I will get them from other sites as they generally charge one credit per book and you can get credits for under $10. The exact same recording from iTunes can be over $50.
In three or four months or perhaps a little longer there will be a tablet that you can get that will have all that the iPad 2 offers but you will be able to change the battery plug your thumb drive in, use flash and connect to a 4G tower and if history is an indicator it will be for less money. My test were performed on an iPad 2 64gig Verizon 3G black total cost with accessories (leather cover and carrying case) and tax was $964.57
If you have a genuine need and aren’t worried about 3G connectivity and are only going to use it with in house apps and not worry about using the internet it is a wonderful product. It connected to my 2010 F-250 Microsoft Sync without a hitch and was treated as an iPod.
What's great about it: Graphics and ease of use
What's not so great: It isn’t upgradeable or compatible with the things I want to use it for.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hit the gym with these Monster adidas Sport adistar 128648-00 headphones, which feature Bluetooth technology for a wireless connection to your MP3 player and a water-resistant design. Pure Monster Sound technology delivers rich, powerful audio.

Can these headphones be rinsed off in the sink after a workout?

NO! Use a wetnap that they give you at most BBQ restaurants. I got my standard Bose earbuds wet and they died. Use a soft bristle toothbrush to clean the surface of the speaker every so often.
