Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18–300mm f/3.5–5.6G ED VR Standard Zoom Lens: Boasting the longest reach of any NIKKOR all-in-one zoom lens, this lens delivers the equivalent of 450mm focal length, enough reach to bring the most distant action up close. This single telephoto zoom lens can keep up with a wide range of shooting situations, from wide-angle groups to ultra-high-power zoom shots.
I've had my 18-300 for a couple of weeks. This lens replaced an 18-200 Nikon and both on a D7000. Like the 18-200, this is a "compromise" lens. I'm compromising Image Quality for convenience, but so far I can't really see any major issues. Sport events, performances, low light, etc. all work very well with clear and sharp images. The lens construction is excellent, although plastic like all of the consumer Nikkor lenses, but not wrong at this price point. It does feel sturdy, tight and built, but it is a little. For me, that works, as I prefer a heavier lens for stability. I don't get any lens creep and it feels comfortable to handle. I think this one is a keeper and since I wanted to be able to carry one lens, I believe it is working for me. Since it is new, I am reserving my durability rating to Good, but so far it feels still like when I got it and my old 18-200 is still in perfect condition.
