Basic b/w laser-but inexpensive and well made

For a printer that is not wireless, it doesn't come with a USB cable. How much could that have cost Brother company to have included this? On the other hand, it seems to be a solidly made machine and it holds half a ream of paper which is usually more than other basic laser printer of this size. Doesn't take that much room on the desk but it isn't made to be shared since it has to be connected directly to the computer. I am sure you can share this if you connected to the server but I doubt anyone more than a couple of people would want to share a printer of this class as it is not made for that.
Compared to another brand (nameless) the toner and the drum are separate accessories. The toner comes ine 2 "sizes." The standard (1,200 pages) and XL (3,000 pages) (be sure you buy the toner tn830 which is made to fit this machine, not the different one) – and of course the drum (dr830 at 15,000 pages) that lasts a lot longer. Setting up was not difficult – you have to go to the brother website and it basically download the same software (in my case, Microsoft Windows) here https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadtop.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=hll2400d_us_eu_as and here you can view and download the manual https://support.brother.com/g/s/id/htmldoc/printer/cv_hll2460dw/use/PDF/PDF.pdf as it doesn't come in the box.
It prints fast enough and it does beautiful halftone (1,200 dot per inch) when I tried to print some (albeit black-and-white) photos. Works perfectly fine with stamp.com software to print my own postage – you would feed the envelope manually with the manual feed tray in the front. Right now this printer is on sale about $120 – and how many laser printers of this price can print duplex (both sides of the paper)? Answer: Very few.
The paper tray on the bottom is unusually large for a printer this size. It holds up to 250 sheets (half a ream) which should last a while for most people. I only see a couple of companies that make generic toner for this printer but I'm sure it will not take a long time for many companies to come out with much less expensive toner (and drum, as well), so this printer could be used pretty much inexpensively if you use the third-party consumable. Without looking at it, I almost thought this printer was made by their competitor (nameless here). 2400d is hefty and feels a bit solid. I think it is good for a home office if you don't have to print that many pages per month (the standard toner last about 1,200 pages, and that is at five percent coverage of each page), otherwise an inkjet printer that you fill the inks that comes in bottle will be extremely cost effective to use over this particular printer.
For a printer of this price, if it breaks after a couple years, I would simply throw away and buy a new one but while it is working, I do like it and would be very happy to have this on my desk for business printing.

"Convertible" coffee maker
on November 15, 2023

Bello Pro coffee maker. It is very convenient to be able to make one cup of coffee at a time but there are times you would want to make a pot for others to enjoy, as well. There are a few models out there that can do this – I'd like to call one a convertible (like a car) – this one you actually have to change the adapter inside to make it work to keep the machine smaller, I suppose.
Unpacking wasn't difficult but taking the plot adapter out of the glass jar was not easy. It was pretty much stuck inside and I had to turn it around so it can be removed.
Like others one cup at a time Keurig coffee machine, you pop in carefully one of those one time use coffee or you can use the reusable filter that you can use your own coffee grounds. It gets a bit messy because you will have to clean it out after each use but this will save you money. There are two very sharp large bore needles that you have to be very careful so I don't think children should be using this without supervision (let alone the hot water that it produces could be dangerous, as well). And to remove the adapter to make a part of the time, you have to be careful so pay attention when you do this.
As with any coffee machine, you want to use cold, filter water. I knew somebody who pored in very hot water, and the heat basically burst the Keurig pot, making a big mess.
The water is poured into the back of the machine – there is a translucent scale on the right side and you can see how much water is in the machine. If the water runs too low, in the middle of making a cup, it simply stops. The machine isn't smart enough to let you know the water is too low.
The manual that comes with it is not easy to understand. It wasn't trying to get too technical, but I figured out how it is used without one.
It remembers the last setting – either 8, 10, or 12 ounces cup size. If you press the button you could change the size of the cup – but if you press the singleserve button again, it simply turns it off.
You cannot switch to one pod at a time unless the insert is in place.
There is no timer you can set this machine to make a pot or cup, say, in the morning. You just have to do it when you ready to drink the coffee.
There is no emergency off button if you forget, for example, to put the pot or the cup beneath the output area.
This machine is good for home use it or want to buy it for work, it is not for a busy office. It doesn't hold that much water in the back, and it takes a bit of time to make a cup so you will have a line of people waiting. It is the nature of this type of one cup at a time machine so I don't believe even the more expensive one could make a faster cup. It works perfectly fine for me, and it will do for many people.

Good for a single user, but not for an office.
on October 14, 2023

There are three major manufacturers that make large tank inkjet printers today. Hewlett-Packard, C, and E. They are all very similar. Generic inks can be easily brought – you can get all four colors for less than USD20 (instead of about USD15 per color), and speaking from experience, I could not tell the difference. This HP 5000 Smart Tank all in one printer is one of their most basic model. Like other models of their even from different manufacturers, you have to install the printheads. One for color, and the other for black ink. Follow the directions by the letter and do not skip anything whatsoever. If something will go wrong, this is where it will happen. Thankfully the ink is marked clearly for each color, and it is virtually impossible to fill the wrong color because the bottle will simply not fit but I bet if you try hard enough to squeeze, a drop or two of the incorrect color can get into the well, and that will be the end of the printer. Pay absolute attention when you fill the ink. There is no way to clean out or purge the well if the wrong color somehow gets in there.
If you are looking for an automatic duplex printer, this is not the one. You would have to manually flip the paper over (it isn't that difficult, you just have to follow the prompt). Setting up is not difficult. You actually have to download the HP smart app to do this. I tried it on a couple of Windows computers and I had to set up via the USB cable for the first one, but for the second one, it connected through the Wi-Fi quickly. You have to have basic computer knowledge to do this I believe. For Wi-Fi set up, you of course have to know your Wi-Fi ID, and password. So you know, if you are looking for the printed manual, it doesn't come with one. It comes with a folded poster which you can easily follow. Unfortunately on the HP website, it reported "Oops" error ("we can't find that page!") When I search for the manual. The user guide, however is available here https://kaas.hpcloud.hp.com/pdf-public/pdf_7527706_en-US-1.pdf the control panel is on the left side, and it is quite small. You really do need to read the set up guide to see what the buttons do. It is very unfortunate that you cannot walk up to this printer after it is set up and easily make, say, a copy of something. They saved money by making the buttons small, and are not labeled clearly. The users (some of us anyway) will pay dearly for this. Their competitor has larger LCD screen and everything is labeled very clearly. The other smart Tank printer from Hewlett-Packard is very similar to this. HP has gone downhill to make their newer printers more difficult to use. One example is if you want to print the report, you have to press the reset button. And if you want to print the Wi-Fi network test report, then you press the information button and the resume button and the same time. How in the world would I have known this without looking at the manual? Can I say I am disappointed again?
When you set up the Wi-Fi access, if you need the password or pin, opened the lid in the front where you access the ink and it is on the label inside. Again without the manual, I probably would not know this.
The manual talks about this machine being able to fax. This is not a fax machine. You have to sign up for the E fax service. Anything you scan, of course can be converted to a file and can be faxed to the destination you desire. Any printer can do that.
If you want to print on an envelope, you have to remove the paper in the back and insert the envelopes. There is no second manual tray for this function. Like I said, this is very basic model which will do for most people but probably not suitable for heavy-duty use. It is perfect for a college student who will end up printing a lot (or even a little, because each page is charged to them by the school, so you might as well have one of this printer that you can print a lot without worrying about going broke from paying for the inks.
You could print photos with this – just use photo paper.
Would I recommend this printer? For a single user that does not have to scan more than one, or two pages of documents as it doesn't have automatic document feeder, and for this user that can print for his own use. It prints about five pages per minute in color , so it isn't that bad. The recommended monthly page volume of this printer is quite low – 200-800 pages. (The input tray holds up to 100 sheets, so it really isn't for an office use to be shared with more than a couple of users. And the output tray only hose 30 pages.) But if you have to share this printer with the whole family on a full-time basis (and they print often), someone will have to add more paper frequently. (It only takes 1/5 of a ream of papers, so that tells you that it isn't one of those printers you can print and forget it. And if the previous job requires duplex, then the next job cannot be done until the first job is finished.)
By the way this printer works with Microsoft Windows 10 and above and various Mac operating systems, but not for Google Chrome.
One last thing that I have against using this printer in an office is that the maintenance tray cannot be replaced. With any inkjet, if you have to run a cleaning cycle, it dumps the ink into a sponge pad in a maintenance tray. For a heavier duty printer, when the sponge is completely soaked, the whole thing can be removed and replaced. The lower end models such as this one, when that happens, the printer stops working and you may need to return this to their service department to have it done professionally. I'm not even sure if this model can be replaced because I do not see a window or a lid in the back that can be opened. Many people do not think of this but then, many people do not print that many pages like I do.
Overall, if this printer had existed a few years ago, it would be a state-of-the-art. It is just another printer with big and inexpensive ink tanks which will work fine for a single person. But if you can afford something more, by their higher end model which incidentally uses the same inks. It will save you the headaches and frustration of having to fill the papers and having to flip the paper if you print duplex.

Looking at this computer, you would never know that underneath all that, it is a bit unique. First of all, the central processing unit (CPU) is made by Qualcomm and it is called Snapdragon. Microsoft has modified Windows 11 (that is installed on this computer) to run with it. It is pretty transparent to most users until you try to install an old program which may not work – and have to have certain settings adjusted (so it will work.)
First of all, it is initially set at the S mode. It means it only allows programs from Microsoft Store to run, and you would have to get out of this mode to use/install you on programs. This isn't hard to do because you basically follow a couple of prompts – but there is no way to go back once it is converted. (I personally have not the needed to revert back to the S mode.)
One program that I tested that would not run correctly was an old program made by Corel called Ventura Publisher. It was created to work with Microsoft Windows 2000, and Microsoft Windows XP. Generally it works with Windows 11 64 bit by running compatibility mode two windows XP, and copy over a DLL file, but with this computer, another setting had to be changed and it was very deep into a menu once you right-click the icon of the program. I experimented with a few different settings and finally got it working.
Nowadays computers (or even software) don't come with printed manuals – so you would have to take the time to do this. Microsoft Windows aren't exactly easy to set up for someone who has never used a computer at all. To change a certain setting (and I'm talking about Windows 11 since the start menu is in the middle of the bottom of the screen now, to change it to the left side, it is deep within the "settings" menu under the control panel. Some people may be frustrated because of this but it is no fault of Hewlett-Packard.
I also install a voice dictation program called Dragon Medical – it doesn't need a very fast computer to work as it could keep up with voice to text translation in real time and with a slow computer, the words will eventually appear on the screen – this computer is fairly fast and it works fine.
The screen is very clear, and the speakers works great and I was able to watch that show (YouTube/Netflix) with no problem.
Doesn't look like the battery is easily replaceable but this machine should last for long time. The batteries post last four hours and once it was fully charged, I used it on the battery for four hours and still it was working fine.
The computer is very light, and it is very easy to carry around. There is a 3.1 USB port to the left and 3.0 USB port to the right. The power supply itself is something I don't really care for because the plot is the USB port and if you plug this into a device, it may fry it. (I verified that the voltage coming out of the transformer is higher than 5V.) So you have to be careful.
But the part that really bugged me was the power button which was right next to the delete button. It could be accidentally pressed and since I changed the shutdown procedure (under the control panel/power settings), when the power button is tapped (not held down), my computer was shut down (as set by me.) It is something you have to keep in mind not to accidentally press it.
But it is a very workable computer without the dedicated graphic GPU. A couple of programs that I installed reported that there was no Intel or Nvidia graphic on it and thus these programs will not take advantage of that – one even crashed (refused to run). If you know that this computer is not made to play games or to use to render videos, you will not be surprised. It really is very suitable for general Internet surfing, watching movies online (there is no optical drive), and even voice dictation if you have that program or to use Google Document/speech – it is fast enough for it.
Recommended? Yes but hesitated because of the limitations I mentioned above.

Handsome air purifier. Set and forget basically.

Blue Pure 411i Max is an air purifier for home use. It looks very futuristic. To me it looks like a big version of the cylinder Mac computer. The set up is very easy if you follow the directions from the booklet carefully. You could control this machine remotely with your phone by downloading an app (and connected to your phone after you have created an account.) It's pretty customizable – you can even control how bright the little LCD light is in case you want your room at night to be completely dark. Even at the highest speed setting, the fan noise is not that loud – substantially more quiet and the other machine that I have. But if you choose not to connected to your telephone, you simply turn it on and adjust the speed that you want. In time, the filter will have to be replaced and the little LCD will tell you so.
When you remove the filter, twist the top part which includes the fan (unplug it first), and lift it straight up. The manual isn't clear here – the cost cover slides down like a sock (seriously.). This part can be washed when it gets dusty because the air is absorbed through it. But the filter inside which is pretty massive – bigger than an intake car filter, has to be removed (it can be dusted, but eventually you will want to replace it if it gets very old.) The machine will tell you the life of the filter as it continuously measures the air quality (and it even shows on the graph on your phone.) The machine can also be set in automatic mode, as well. I just set mine at level II and the air seems to be a little cleaner. I looked at the filter after about a week and there is a lot of dust on it. (This is how I can tell it works). The replacement filter itself looks like a cylinder and it cost about USD30 to replace but it should last a long time. Be sure you get the right model. This one is called F4Max filter. There isn't much else to do with a machine like this. I just simply leave it on all day long and I don't even notice that it is there. Honestly my small apartment – the air isn't dirty because I don't smoke so I'm not sure how much the air is cleaner but I certainly, like I said, noticed dust after running it for about one week.
It is something that is useful but most people may not be aware that they would actually need it until they have been running for a while because dust in the air is not really that visible especially if you keep your apartment clean.

Supertank printer. Great for students/home office
on May 8, 2023
Posted by: computerboy
Canon G3270 is a little beyond entry-level all in one large tank printer from Canon. Canon and Epson have been coming out with many models of this type of printer – the initial purchase costs more than their other inkjet but it costs very little to use since the inks comes in bottles instead of cartridges which are very costly. Each set can print as many as 6000 black and white pages and up to 7700 pages in color. Your mileage may vary if you do full color pages or photos.
This printer can print duplex but in manual mode only. The driver will tell you to flip the paper over at the end of the front page. It really is not that hard but you have to be around the printer when this happens – so it may not be for everyone especially if you are very busy.
The old models of these Canon printer had one thing that alarmed me. I could have easily filled the wrong color into the wrong tank since the nozzles are identical in shape. This means if the wrong color (in any amount) goes into the wrong tank, you might as well dump the printer because there is no easy way to purge the ink.
This printer will only take the correct ink since the nozzles are keyed, but do pay attention when you fill the ink anyway.
The initial set up takes a while and you need to follow the poster by the letter. Pay absolute attention to what you are doing and do not get distracted. You are directed to their (Canon) website to download the drivers, etc. While the entire bottles will fill the tank, it takes a bit of ink to fill the lines (tubes) that go to the printheads. But since another set of inks isn't that expensive, it's not a bad idea to have an extra one just in case.
Canon comes with neat programs when you install the driver. Where that you could do all kind of things with this printer. You can also print from your phone, remotely as well.
I think this printer is perfect for a college student. It probably isn't heavy-duty enough to be shared in a busy office because the tray only holds a hundred sheets of paper, and it has to be filled fairly often. Keep in mind that this type of printer needs to be used once in a while as the printheads make it clogged. (It is not unusual for an inkjet printer to do that.) But since it costs a little to print, you might as well print something once a week to prevent it from happening.
I configured my program that I used to print postage and it printed envelopes without any problem.
The scanner on the top turns this printer into a copier. There is no auto feed function so you have to scan/copy one item at a time – and the largest size would be the letter size.
You can directly connect your computer via the USB, or you can use Wi-Fi to print. It supports 2.4 gigahertz and five gigahertz.
The driver now supports Windows 11 all the way back to Windows 7. It doesn't work with Windows XP for those that have the old computers. For Apple Macintosh, it supports that, and according to the website, it support Chrome book as well but I am unable to test it.
It has auto power which you could tell the printer to turn itself off – and when this happens, the printer parks its print heads, so it will not dry out. And it will wake itself up when you send it a page to print.
I have seen some people carrying a printer to the library to print stuff – most places allow that but you have to be very careful. If the lid (of the inktank) is not on tightly, the ink will leak – so do not tilt the printer when you have to move it.
Fortunately and I think it took Canon a while to catch on – there is a replacement maintenance tray in the back. (Canon MC-G04). Most people do not know what this is. If you have defects when you print the page – for example some lines that are not being printed due to clogged printheads, you could run the "clean print head" function. What this does is actually it squirts the ink through the printhead to unclog it. There is also a heavy-duty function that uses more ink to do this – but since seeing isn't that expensive – it isn't the problem. The sponge on the bottom of the printhead soaks up the extra ink and if it gets too wet, the printer stops working. The older model that had no replaceable maintenance tray, you would have to take it to their official factory service center to get that replaced. Many people just basically throw the printer away (but it doesn't happen until you do this quite a lot) but nevertheless the newer models have the replaceable maintenance tray so when the printer tells you the tray is full (which means it is soaked with ink) you simply remove it and put in a new one. The new one costs about USD10 or so and you could continue to use the printer.
The printer works well for a small office with one, or two person. But if you have to print a lot and especially on both sides of the paper, it could get in your way (especially if it is used by more than one person), but for a home office, I think it is quite perfect if you don't mind scanning/copying the paper one piece at a time.
It prints pretty loudly but there is a "quiet mode" which will work a little slower but it is, more quiet of course.
When you set this up, you have to install the printheads. The color printheads will not fit into the black ink printhead or vice versa. But you really have to pay attention to what you are doing.
I could not tell the output of this printer to another Megatank printer that I have (or from another manufacturer.) There are pretty much similar. And if you pay a little more, you could get one that holds more paper (bigger tray, or more than one tray), and may print faster, or may have the automatic sheet feeder on the top that you could copy or scan a bunch of papers automatically. The more expensive models might be able to scan on both sides by flipping the paper or have they dual scanner (that scans both sides at once.) You really do get what you pay for but those could be quite expensive but are made to be used all day long. Some of their top-of-the-line models actually has a fax machine built-in, as well. Some will print on 11 x 17 paper too.
This printer is perfect for high school/college student. Even for a teacher who does not mind investing a bit more money by buying this type of printer which will cost him or her a lot less money when the inks are replaced. For a home based office, it would do fine (unless you need a fax machine but nowadays you could get E fax account which is extremely convenient and inexpensive, too.) But for a multiuser, since it doesn't do duplex, it may cause some confusion if more than one person is using it at once. (The first job has to be flipped over to print on the other side, before the second job is printed.)
If you take this to work (if that is allowed, that is), you may as well connect it to your computer via a USB cable as you will have to connect it wirlessly to the work's network account, and some place may not let you do that without an official permission.
I strongly recommend this printer with the minor inconvenience mentioned above for those who print a lot – it pays for itself pretty much in no time. I have a similar printer (also can) that I took to work and I use it every day and it really took almost a year to have to fill the ink.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is the most powerful laptop that has a dedicated graphic card that I have ever used. I also have a workstation laptop by Dell (Alienware as you know, is a subsidiary) with a Quadro card and it manages to play games decently. Another desktop with GTX 1080 and another workstation with dual Xeon chip/128 GB RAM and a powerful Quadro and this laptops is more suitable for games and seems to run faster than all computers I mentioned above.
Unpacking and setting up – I'm afraid you have to know a little bit about computer. This is not the fault of Alienware/Dell-and it applies to any computers running Windows operating system so I will not dwell on it. You won't be able to use it right away – it took me almost an entire day with a very fast Internet to download patches to update the operating system (Windows 11) so it is up to date. If you expect to play a game within the short moment you unpack it, you can forget that. So just like any new computer, plan to spend a bit of time before you get to use it.
One thing you will note that it is beautifully made. It feels sturdy enough and it has very bright LCD in the back – making it look like the back of the car. However the novelty wore off for me because I could not locate the USB connectors to plug them in without a flash light. There is the program (under alienwear folder) called Alienware Lighting Technology that you could use to turn it off, and you can also use their other programs to change the setting of the graphic card – overclocking the graphic card, etc. (See why you should spend some time setting it up?) Lastly, there is a tiny microSD slot that was not easy to locate on the back.
Manual? It's a piece of folded paper. Long gone when a computer or a program comes with a printed book.
By the way, I also thought that light was attracting a bit too much attention for myself when I took it to a coffee shop.
With the computer fully charged, Windows report five hours of battery time. That was the computer just sitting there not being used. So that time will be shorter if you were to use it for games which may push your hardware to the limits.
I downloaded a few games from Steams. Some are old, and some are current. They all ran beautifully – no stuttering – no screen tearing at all, and at the higher and highest settings, too. No jumping around. Smooth as silk.
If you want to go beyond HD resolution, this computer can "only" do 1920x1080 (not 2560x1440) but the refreshing rate is amazing 360 Hz. The screen is beautiful. I thought it was OLED (and it isn't). Watching an episode of Netflix show was a joy. It looks good and it sounds good, too. This thing has Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos (hence HDR video and surround sound).
The hard drive is the M.to format – and is extremely fast. Booting up – ready to go – for me was less than 10 seconds.
There is a USB 3.2 generation 1 port, a 3.2 generation 2 (type C) and a thunderbolt 4 port in the back. (I wish it had two USB 3 full size outputs). A HDMI 2.1 port and an audio jack, too. There is Bluetooth 5.2 so you can use your Bluetooth hardware.
Does it run hot? It runs warm. You'd expect it to do that. Just don't rest it on your bed (so the air flows are blocked) nor sit it on your lap so you won't be toasted.
The CPU is i7 with 14 cores / 20 threads with plenty of speed up to 4.7 GHz with 16 GB of RAM. More than enough to do just anything with this beast. Laptops nowadays don't come with the optical drive so don't expect to play a DVD, let alone a Blu-ray disc with this.
The keyboard has programmable backlight – but this is not something you would buy to type a 10 page report (although I use a third party voice dictation program and the computer is beyond fast enough to work very well with it).
The computer weighs about 5 1/2 pounds is surprsingly thin. The weight does not includ the power supply. So it's light enough to be carried around and is powerful enough for any gamers.
It would be a wonderful computer for any gamers. Obviously you'd get more for the same amount of money if this were a desktop, but some people must have a laptop. For what it is, it is a powerful computer to do anything if they can afford one.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Works well.. but

The Hewitt Packard Laserjet M110WE is marketed as the world's smallest laser printer of its class. This I do not dispute. However, if you print only occasionally, this printer may be suitable for you. I print a lot at work like me, and I also work from home doing other things, it will be costly in a long run.
But let us get to the setup procedures which could be frustrated for many.
There are 2 ways of setting up this printer. As there is no hardware connection viewed the USB cable, it must be done through wireless means. You go to the website http://123.hp.com and enter the model number m110we and it presents you with 2 ways of setting up this printer. The first 1 which it recommends is done through the mobile device. The link sends you to the Google store or Apple Store depending on your hardware.
The second choice is setting it through the computer but unfortunately, this printer is not ready for prime time (also happened with the super tank Hewitt Packard printer I tested recently). The link in the Microsoft store was broken!! I do not know whose fault that is but this is unacceptable. Not everyone has a smart phone and without one, the user can simply not get it going. Why they offer such a preference when it does not work is not what I expect from Hewitt Packard.
And not everyone is a computer-savvy like myself. Many hardware nowadays even software, as well, come with very little printed documentation. There is a sheet of folded paper that shows you steps through the simple setup procedure which could be adequate for most people but if they were to run into the problem I just mentioned, they will take this right back to the store.
I tried that twice and I default back to set it up with my android telephone. It was indeed very easy following a few steps and you can actually register the printer with your phone. It offers you free 6 months of ink and I declined (my choice) and I am fully aware that there is no generic ink for this printer and HP asked me to consent that I have to use their brand name toner. I will not have the opportunity in the future to complain that I cannot use a generic ink. (I'm surprised they are not asking you to use HP papers.)
Each is USD48 and it will print up to 950 pages at 5% coverage. It turns out to be 0.05 dollars per page which may not sound that much but 5% coverage is not that much either. In the real world, you will get perhaps half or a little more life out of that.
The toner is all in one. HP has gone to separate drum and toner powder in their newer printers, but not this one.
Like I said, if you use this printer occasionally then it is acceptable. It prints fast enough and everything comes out very clearly. I tried to print some photos using a desktop publishing program, and a halftone looked very clear. (As clear as a black and white newspaper print.) Again do not expect this printer to bring in color because it is not made to do such a thing. Furthermore, it does not do duplex (both sides printing) so you will have to flip the paper manually. If you want to print an envelope, you have to remove all the paper in the tray to do that.
I wanted to be able to print from a desktop and I am using Windows 11. (Thanks Microsoft for making it easy.) I went to the control panel and I chose "add a printer" and it presented as 1 of the choices that is already connected to my network Wi-Fi. It took just 1 minute and it worked immediately as the default printer (which can be changed of course.)
So is this a suitable printer for somebody who may print a lot? Like a student away at college (that may share it with his roommates) or somebody in the office? No. I am not faulting Hewlett-Packard. This printer was not designed to be used in that manner. This is not for busy, shared office use. It may be suitable for home office but you cannot print that many pages like a bigger printer without overheating it (it gets hot after a few pages). The fuser is close to the surface I assume.
While the printer itself initially is not expensive, the ink will cost you almost half as much as the printer to replace. If you print a lot, I recommend a printer that has a large tank that you can simply fill from bottles. A few brands are available and Hewitt Packard makes a couple of models currently. It is like driving a hybrid automobile that gets 60 miles per hour versus a car that gets 20 miles per hour֫—you do not feel too bad going on a long trip!
Otherwise, this printer is not very heavy. I don't think it is made to be portable, i.e. because you simply don't take something like this to the library to print something. You will have to connect to the local Wi-Fi with your computer to print each time you move it someplace else. Too bad there is no USB port for direct connection (another way of HP taking a short cut). To keep it light, it is mostly plastic outside like many printers nowadays – so I don't expect this to last more than perhaps a year or two. The older generations of HP laserjet lasted practically forever. And of course, they weigh a ton, as well. Again this printer is not made to be used in that manner and I am being a bit over-critical about this. You just have to know what you're getting and you can't complain about it.
While it doesn't take much room on your desk, it is not the best reason to buy this printer compared to another printer that may physically take up more space. You could put this on the floor or at the corner of the room because it works wirelessly (so what is the big deal having to get up?) Again if you print a few hundred pages a month and a lot of people do, this can add up and you will wish that you had bought a printer with large tanks. (Another brand makes monochrome tank printers if that is what you would like to do instead of color.)
If you have a couple of children at home that print a lot of homework stuff and you print something all the time, this printer is not for you. It will get expensive to use.
Would I recommend this printer? Yes, but with a strong reservation from the reasons mentioned earlier.

Print wells, but know this..

Smart Tank 7301 is Hewlett-Packard's top-of-the-line large tank (called Megatank and Ecotank by their competitors). HP got on the bandwagon when the other two manufactures were making loads of money. They did not do a good job.
I put it through thorough testing and I have concluded that while it print well, it has a few shortcomings that if this were the only large tank printer, it would be a great buy – but compared to its competitors, this printer should be priced about half of what it is retailed for.
The printer came in a very well packed box – typical – just like any other printers out there – there is no manual but a small sheet of a folded brochure on the quick setup. It doesn't go into detail whatsoever about how to install the printheads and how to pour in the inks. I had to download the Adobe Acrobat manual to go over it so I will not make a mistake. It is not a simple printer, and I had to make sure what is installed first – the printheads, or the inks? (The answer is you have to fill the tanks with the inks first.)
Unfortunately, it has to be done extremely carefully. Another brand – the tips of the bottles are clearly designed so it cannot be inserted into the wrong tank (wrong color). If you do not think it is serious, imagine putting water in your engine instead of oil. There is no way to purge the ink if the incorrect color is used. This is an oversight and some users who are not careful will make a mistake if they are in the hurry.
I tried to download the full driver (it is a huge file) on HP website, and the setup program did not recognize the printer even when it was connected through the USB port. I switched to few different ports – directly connected to the computer – it still did not recognize the printer. And by the way, the link on the website of HP was broken for this particular driver. I had to go to third party which fortunately links me to HP own website but with a different URL address. Of course, I made sure it is for this particular printer, and not for an incorrect one. This is a horrible oversight for someone who want to set this up for office use (IT department).
I had to download the “app” which is more like a toy and it still did not recognize the printer. I had to reboot the computer for that to happen. (I am running Windows 11 and the driver that I mentioned above was made for Windows 11.)
Once it started working, the printer printed quite quickly and thankfully on duplex (both sides of the paper) at the default setting, fast enough for me to use at work. (I set this up first at home, and I took you to work because I print a lot at work.) It is a bit loud, but I didn't expect it to be quiet (and print that quickly).
Another criticism that I have is that I could not see the buttons at all. Sometimes it lights up, but when I wanted to make a test copy with the automatic document feeder, I had to play around with the button. I had to look at the PDF manual since the provided setup sheet did not go into it at all. They could have invested in a small LCD screen that has messages that the user can understand. It is just a bunch of icons. I would like to be able to control the printer at the printer, and I don't want to do it via the computer. How did this thing come out of the design department is beyond me?
I have Adobe Acrobat and I wanted to scan the documents to create a 10 page PDF file – it works – very slowly – and only the maximum of 300 dots per inch. And it only scans one side – meaning you have to flip the page over to the other side. It deserves a duplex (one pass) sensor. If you have a lot of documents to scan, you are going to be frustrated.
Next problem the paper tray – you can fit the letter sized paper, and it will extend to accommodate a legal sized paper. I thought I was missing something to keep the papers in place – it is in there. At the end of the tray the stack of paper is made so it is "fanned" for the ease of the printer to feed it – but at the other end of the papers (toward you), the edge of the paper just sits there. I don't know how well this will work because if the papers move back just a bit, the printer will not be able to pick one sheet up at all.
Another shortcoming is for something that because this much, there is no manual bypass tray. If you want to print an envelope, you have to take the whole stack of paper out and insert one envelope. How much can it cost to add that feature?
Lastly, there is no maintenance tray. What that is is when the printer does the cleaning of the heads, it dumps a small amount of ink onto a sponge pad (to unclog the print heads.) When the pad is too soaked with wasted ink, it will have to be replaced. There is no way to do that here without this assembling the printer (and you are not supposed to). For something that because this much, they should make a replaceable maintenance tray.
The other two brands which shall be nameless, have them for more expensive models. So this printer is okay for home use, but if you use it a lot at work, one day it will stop printing because the pads will have to be replaced and you will not be able to do it yourself. You may have to send it in. This is a major flaw and it makes it a home use only. Yes, print a few thousand pages and opps - it stops working.
It is an acceptable printer and I was able to set it up wirelessly using the app. If they were no other large capacity inkjet printer in the market, it is a decent printer (with all the shortcomings that I have mentioned), but compared to the other two brands, for the same price, you just don't get enough with this.
Not recommended for the price you are expected to pay because there are better choices (that do more) out there.

For office use-but not really for games

This Hewlett-Packard 24 inch LED monitor is indeed a handsome piece of hardware. After using it for a few weeks, I have to conclude that it is better suited for general use – office work, rather than for gaming.
Setting up was easy. It came with a brochure – illustrated the way the stand is put together but if you have done something familiar before with another monitor, you could practically do it with your eyes closed. The monitor is adjustable so to speak. It will tilt forward and backward only. It doesn't go up and down. I thought it was a shortcoming – like a printer that doesn't print duplex.
The maximum resolution is indeed HD and you can connect this monitor to a Blu-ray player via the HDMI cable (although I don't think it was marketed to be used so) – it doesn't have built-in speakers. For that, the monitor is quite thin – in fact so thin that it doesn't have the way to mount this monitor onto the wall or to a monitor arm. That is another shortcoming if it is ever hoped to be a gaming monitor as many gamers will use more than one monitor if they cannot afford a much more expensive widescreen.
The menus are easy to navigate but the buttons are very small.
It has the feature which synchronizes with an AMD graphic card called FreeSync® – but it only goes up to 70 Hz – almost like, if I may say so, a DeLorean car – design as a sport car – but doesn't really perform like one.
But using it as an office or home office monitor, I was very happy with this. I had to calibrate it, and the gamut is wide (it's an IPS monitor) - and I was able to actually match the print out to what ever was being displayed on the monitor exactly. (Probably because I also have RIP (raster image processor) software that turns my inkjet into a Postscript printer.) Comparing this monitor to the other one (wide screen) that I have (also calibrated), this looks better.
I have GTX1080 so FreeSync doesn't work with it, but it was able to play games well enough. Again, this is not a monitor to spend hours for games, but it's a very useful monitor – I think the price could be a little high to the limitation that was imposed by its design.
I recommend this monitor, as long as you know that when compared to a higher frequency and most likely larger monitor, and more expensive, you get a reliable monitor for everyday use - and not for gaming.

Not worth the money.
By Jaredpw
This product is very bad, for several reasons. One reason this product is not good, is it does not come with a "Micro USB-to-USB cable". This is quoted to be included in the package but it is not. Furthermore, both back and front cameras are extremely poor and grainy. This tablet constantly freezes and even the simpleness of tasks create a laggy experience. Just going though my twitter feed causes the screen to lag and jittery. The battery life is alright, it lasts about 7-8 hours on a medium use. Also, right out the the box i had less then 35gb on a 64gb tablet. I uploaded a picture I took with the tablet so you can see the quality of it.

Of course its hard drive of 64 GB will not have 64 GB of space on it. It is taken up by Windows, and a back up copy of it. That is what a memory card slot is for (to save your data). All computers are like that.
To rate it lowly just because of that and perhaps it didn't come with a cable is unfair.

I am happier with this player than the Sony!
By Pooky
I have a Blu-ray, 4K up converter player from Sony, connected to a 65 inch 4K television that I bought from Costco. I was not unhappy with that combination – it didn't play DVD movies well. There was not setting for "progressive" and it showed too much interlaced (when 24p was set to on). This player has an additional setting which fixed that problem. I realize that a DVD, no matter how good it is, is not a Blu-ray, and it cannot be made to look that good with any player, but I am very, very happy with this one. The player is beautiful – it starts up fairly quickly and just like the Sony, it plays beautiful Blu-ray movies on a 4K television. Haven't been to a movie theater in years, and this is another reason I will never return.

Downscales 4k blu-ray to 1080
By antennaguy
I connected this player to my 2014 Samsung UHD TV set, and discovered that all my regular blu-rays are upscaled to 2160p. So far, sol good. But then I received my first actual UHD blu-ray, The Martian, popped it into the player, and found that it is downscaled to 1080. Nothing I tried had any affect. I have yet to receive another 4k blu-ray, so I don't know whether I'd get a different result with a different disk. I've been in touch with Samsung tech support, but so far they have been unable to offer a solution that works.

Very happy overall.
By Pooky
I have a 65 inch 4k TV (brand is Element, bought from Costco a few months ago). I have a Samsung 4k upconvert blu ray player and was happy with that, but wanted this true 4k when it came out and fortunately I ordered it just on time (because a few minutes later, Bestbuy ran out.) Got it quickly in the mail - 2 days UPS - nicely packed.
It is connected to Vizio SB3821-C6 38" 2.1 Bluetooth Soundbar via digital output. Internet via ethernet cable and to the TV with the same HDMI cable that I was using before.
Regular DVD looks good. Didn't expect it to look * that * good, but when I popped a blu ray disk in, it really was stunning. First played Cleopatra (Elizabeth Taylor) blu ray. I didn't expect it to upconvert 1080p source to 4k that well. Very sharp (without noises). No color bleedings. (Default setting on TV, and following settings on the player: Deep Color: on, Resolution at 2060p, 24p to on.
Later tried Everest blu ray from Netflix that came in today. It looked amazing. A visiting friend felt it looked great, too. I tried playing it with the other Samsung 4k upconvert player, and honestly, I thought the true 4k player looked better.
We tried an episode of Netflix stream show - Frankie and Grace. This is one of the few shows that is in 4k. It loads quickly (I have fast Time Warner Cable 300K speed) - just a few seconds, and no pauses at all. It simply looked AMAZING. My friend and I stood about two feet away from the screen and we were able to see all the juicy details. I thought a regular Blu Ray looks good with this player, but real 4k Netflix looks even better. It was crystal clear.
I am not saying that I can't wait until I buy a 4k blu ray movie (on a disk). They are expensive and the selection is still limited (as of now, February 2016). Am looking forward to buying them for newer movies that I do not have on blu ray yet in due course.
I use a Canon 5d Mark II with 24-70 mm f 2.8 L lens to take photos of the screen (ASA 1,000, hand held). One is whole screen, and the other is a foot away. I hope these photos are useful.
Now the bad news: the remote is small, and it uses (supplied) button battery. Fortunately the old remote that came with the previous BR player works (it is also Samsung.) I can't believe an expensive player like this comes with this tiny remote. There is no fast forward button (or go back) - you'd have to hold the "next chapter" button down to do that. Many people are going to be upset about this. Lastly, no HDMI cable either.

4k Kingsman The Secret Service
February 19, 2016
Can't edit the original review, and it won't let me use the same ID. Anyway, I picked up a copy of 4k blu ray of above movie. It also comes with a regular 1080p blu ray, so I watched both. I paused at the same spot, a few minutes into the movie. I do have to say that I could see the difference between 4k vs. 1080p. 4k is sharper, and has more details (the scene paused was the youngster when they first met with the trainer. I stood close to the screen, just a couple of feet away (65 inch), and looked at a boy's sweater. I could see the fine details with 1080p, but quite more on a 4k copy. HOWEVER, stepping back and sitting on the sofa, I was quite happy with the 1080p copy - And since the player upscales Blu-ray movies beautifully anyway, I do not think I will actually replace any Blu-ray movies that I have with a 4K version, but most likely will get some 4K movies when they come out in the future, and for those obviously that I want to see the more than once. Overall I am very happy with the player with my not very expensive Element 65 inch 4k television (it does not have HDR). It looks like it upscales better than the other Samsung upscaler BR (and) the Sony one, too.

Can this printer do automatic duplex scanning via the automatic doc feeder (i.e. you don't need to manually flip the paper to do 2 sided scanning)

It does not do duplex scanning. Not one of those scanner that scans one page and flip the page over let alone scanning both sides at once. And not only that – it does at maximum of only 300 dots per inch and very slowly. You will be frustrated if you have a stack of something to be scanned.

The Canon imageFORMULA R40 scanner, easy to set up and use, allows users to increase productivity and organization at home or in the office. Quickly convert paper documents to searchable digital files using the bundled software.

Can this scan documents directly onto an external hard drive or thumb drive, without a computer intermediary?

No. You'll need a computer to do this. This scanner does not have that function. (And those that do, aren't that good anyway).

Either Mac or Windows drivers are here https://soft.canon-elec.co.jp/ims/r40/en/ (don't download it unless you have the machine).

Is this a Xbox headset

I don't think so. The box says "PC and Playstation 4."

According to the website, these are the headsets that will work with Xbox https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Gaming-Headsets/c/Cor_Products_HeadSets?q=%3Afeatured%3AheadsetPlatform%3AXBOX%2BOne&text=&pageSize=#rotatingText

Select individuals seem to possess an inherently creative nature. They see the world differently from those around them, imagining potential in even the most mundane of objects and images. A blank canvas transforms in their mind, becoming rife with vivid colors, shapes and swirls. Creativity used to be limited to the physical tools of pen, paint brush and film, but now, there are an entire host of digital tools available to take creativity to new heights. With access to the powerful, industry-standard imaging tools offered in this Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan, you'll be able to make your creative vision a reality.Bring your vision to life by downloading and installing Adobe Photoshop CC and Adobe Lightroom on your PC and Mac desktops and iOS mobile devices for up to one year. With the tight integration of these two programs across your computers and mobile devices, you'll be able to enjoy a seamless workflow, creating composites in Photoshop Mix on your iPad and then editing them on your desktop. Order and improve the appearance of images in Lightroom on your iPhone and the changes you make will automatically sync back to your Lightroom catalog. With extensive learning content, you'll be able to begin working right away, and thanks to constant updates, you can be sure you're always working with the latest software version. Creative freedom is within your reach with this Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan.

If this compatible with Canon 5D Mark III. ie can it receive RAW files from this camera

It opened Mark II (I have that.)

This is what you need to do - convert all your CR2 files to DNG (Adobe Digital Negative). It can be done in a batch mode (in one setting). Just make sure you have a huge hard drive to read it.

However, I recommend Adobe Lightroom over this program (or Adobe Photoshop) if you take a lot of photos. For example, if you took 100 photos today, and 10 of them were taken, say, indoor, and the color balance is off, to correct them in Photoshop / Elements takes too long. You'd fix it in Lightroom, and "sync" it with other 9 photos, and all of them are fixed! Much faster, much easier.

Can I transfer my cs5 Photoshop actions to this version of Photoshop? How?

Actions will work. But some won't - very complex one that requires the full version of Photoshop (that Elements don't have such functions) will not run (that step).

Does this package include a key number or a CD? I need a key to download it. Thanks.

You don't need the serial number to download it. Here is the link from Adobe to download the installer. You will need the number to install (and activate) it.

Enter the virtual world with this Alienware gaming computer. The Intel Core i7 processor and 16GB of RAM keep your games from freezing, and the NVIDIA GeForce graphics card produces high-quality visuals for a lifelike experience. The 1TB hard drive integrated into this Alienware gaming computer provides plenty of space for your files.

WHAT IS THE GPU ON THIS AND WHAT ARE THE SPECS ???????????????? PLZ LET ME KNOW

Nothing fancy. It's an AMD Radeon Vega Graphics. It's fast enough to play blu-ray movies (when connected to a blu-ray drive) with VLC player / PowerDVD 16 Ultra, but don't count on it to do anything beyond this. Photoshop CC 2018 warns about not enough video memory to do 3d.

How many RAM slots does this computer have in total and how many are used by the RAM installed by Dell?

It has 8 G and it's max. The back can't be opened. There are no screws or anything on it.
