Compatible with...:Mac
I bought this disk for use with my Mac and Time Machine. I have not been disappointed. It works flawlessly for this purpose with no hiccups of any kind. The disk is small and lightweight and fits in the travel bag easily. I recommend the disk to my friends all the time. I have even put a similar one on my Airport Extreme so that all users at our office can use it.
My Best Buy number: 0754211578
What's great about it: No power supply required
What's not so great: 500 Gigs is a little small
I would recommend this to a friend!

Plus, HD movie mode shoots at 1080p Full HD for spectacular videos. Terrific Image Quality
on March 27, 2012

I bought my D800 at Best Buy in Overland Park, Kansas. I had to drive three hours to secure the first ones on the day they came out. It was well worth the drive and the gas money.
Upgrade from the D-700
I upgraded from a Nikon D-700. If you currently have either the D700 or the D300 you will feel right at home with the D800 because the look and feel is very much the same. Unlike the D700, the D800 is actually a lighter camera and is easier to hold. The refinements in the case are a welcome addition. The new LI-ion battery is a good fit and it charges fast inside of three hours. A new feature on the camera's information and set up screens shows exactly how much battery life has been used, and how much remains. This is a very nice benefit.
Not Your Beginners SLR
If you have never owned a DSLR before, this is probably not the camera for you. That is, unless you are willing to go to a class to learn how to use it. This is not some high-end point and shoot that you can just read the manual and take great photos. No, the level of sophistication in the menus and in the menu and command structure are such that you really need to have had some experience before investing $3000 in this camera. But if you have had the experience, then invest away. The image quality is striking! I used the camera with an 85 mm prime, the 28-200 VR, a 60 mm prime and a Tamron 28-200 mm zoom. The image quality on the Nikon lenses was a little better than the Tamron, and the Nikon 28-200 is the perfect travel lens for this camera.
Memory Cards
If you buy this, do not skimp on the memory cards. With both an SD and a CF slot, you can use the slots either as backup, overflow, or you can store RAW images on one, and JPEG on the other. Keep in mind, however, that a full frame camera with 36.3 effective megapixels creates a huge file size. So make sure you get very fast cards or you'll be delayed in shooting in the high speed mode. The average JPEG on Fine/large is 8 megabytes. The RAW file sizes are similarly large with the choice of 12 bit and 14 bit depth. 12 bit produces a bit smaller file size. I used two 16 gig cards, with the primary being the CF slot (storing RAW images# and the SD being the JPEG). I did that so I could download from the JPEG to my Ipad. But i was unprepared for the enormously long download speeds on the Ipad. So if you are going to store to an Ipad, I would recommend setting the RAW and JPEG such that the JPEG is stored as a basic JPEG. That way you won't run out of room. Set up with the CF as primary, I had room for 200 photos. I usually used standard 4 gig cards with my D700. That won't work here. You'll need to use larger cards. You may also need to think about how you'll store the RAW files on the computer since you'll run out of room quickly if you're storing RAW files with a 14 bit file depth.
Worth the Wait
Those of us who have longed to upgrade to a better full frame camera from Nikon have had our prayers answered. This is as good a camera as you can buy, and the low light performance #ISO 6400) is as good as you could want in a camra of this type.
Movie Nuts
If you shoot video, the D800 lets you do that too. It has a far more involved movie mode than the little Nikon coolpix cameras. Do not expect to read the manual and start shooting like John Ford. You'll need to spend time and experiment with this fine camera.
Overall Impression:
This is a phenomenal camera. I bought mine with the 3 year protection plan. It's the best money you will ever spend becausse I have had to use the plan before, and Best Buy stands behind it. If you want to work with something that will produce photographic art, this is the camera for you!
What's great about it: Image quality, weight, menus, and dual card slots
What's not so great: very large file size; need high speed memory cards.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I really like this camera, but have not gone underwater with it yet. It appears thAt before you do you need to clean the door area w alcohol so it will seal good. Great photo quality. The manual doesn't explain the features very well. Not a good camera for beginners.

We wanted these because my wife hates bending down to get stuff in or out of the dryer and washer. They were a good buy, and they are handy since they have storage drawers built in. I would definitely recommend them.
What's great about it: Boosts the washer/dryer to a good height
What's not so great: nothing

This One's for the Fine Art Photographer!
By KAHII from portland oregon
WOW! I'm one of the large to medium film format holdouts and rabid digital scoffer's who said 'it can't be done'. And was I ever wrong...Nikon has met the test, mastered it, and set unparalled standards in FX digital photography.
The D800 is the new 'bench-mark' in DSLR's, It has answered the needs of the fine art photographer who demands the capability of producing hi-quality gallery prints, having superb sharpness, color gradation #gray-scale in B&W#, saturation, and 'film-like' spectral capabilities...it's all there, believe me.
Body wise, don't expect much more than the D700. It is improved, and more user friendly, with a 3.2" bright screen...The main attraction is it's phenomenal 36.3MP, and at 3,000. this is a bargain. This prize out-shoots the 40,000. hasselblad and most medium and 4x5 film cameras.
Hats off to Nikon for standing its ground, when all of us were complaining of it's delays, and producing this game changing GEM.
As always, happy shooting Kenn

I am in full agreement. This is the camera that was worth waiting for. There is nothing comparable to it.

This is the Boss!
By BremertonGuy from Bremerton, Wa
Started shooting right out of the box. Truly impressed with the overall build quality and construction. Some of the numerous buttons may be too close together for someone with larger hands, but I did quite well from the start.
The shutter is crisp and snappy with a great thunderous movement that you can feel when it is on the tripod.
Picture quality is outstanding, as expected. If your are going to just be putting pictures on the web, this is NOT the camera to buy...it's overkill. This beast is for someone who is going to seriously take a shot at making money off the work they perform with the camera.
Check out Flickr dot com for pictures of the results if you want to see some examples.

how to replace stings on model 0968024021

You remove the old string by unwinding it, and then using a pair of side-cutters to cut off the part that wound around the tuning bar. They you pull the string out the bottom, and insert the new string. Make sure you wind the new string at least one or two revolutions and don't just cut off the string to the exact length, otherwise it will never hold tune.

10.2 vs. 12.2 MPs

I am looking to buy my wife a DSLR camera for Christmas and am wondering if there is a huge difference between a 10.2 megapixel and 12.2 megapixel model? We won't be printing poster-size photos, probably nothing bigger than 10x12...would we even notice the difference?
Honestly, no, you won't notice the difference. But keep in mind that some of the 12.3 mp cameras have better performance in low light situations. If you're shooting baby pictures of lots of natural light stuff, a D700 (12) would be better than any of the 10 mp cameras because it has better high ISO performance. Check out the reviews of cameras on Popular Photo's website popphoto.com. If you stay with Nikon or Canon your wife will be VERY happy.

Will a lenes from a older EOS Rebel fit a new SLR digital camera?

Only if its a Canon camera. You can't use a Canon lens on either Nikon or Sony. So if you want to use your old lenses, stay with the same brand.

digital slr, don't want video

want to purchase a digital slr - don't want or really use the video... any good ones out there?
Canon and Nikon both have great cameras that will meet your needs. Although I am biased in favor of Nikon (I believe its the best), Canon does have good equipment. Look at the 5D in the Canon line, and the Nikon D700 (for full frame) and D300 (for DX format). Remember, the glass you use is at least as important as the camera, so don't cheap out with a cheap lens.
