If I can say the least, LL went out in glory. The album definitely helped him to solidify his legacy. He is one of the best to ever do it and that can't be taken from him.
What's great about it: Uncle L shows that his skills are still polished and shows why he has been around so long
What's not so great: The rock remix of Baby was a tad bit awkward
Ye is the most creative MC ever. He has transcended the hip-hop genre whether people want to acknowledge it or not. Think about it...who is constantly giving the fans something that isn't the same. Lil' Wayne needed to utilize Kanye's formula to go triple platinum, so all the Kanye haters need to appreciate the fact that Kanye West exists.
What's great about it: This is not a typical album. Ye definitely pushed the envelope
What's not so great: I felt he should have rapped more but he did at least have features to accomodate for him not rapping much
I was annoyed by Chris Brown on his first album but CB is coming into a position of prominence to say near the Usher's and MJs. Honestly, Usher's latest was disappointing although Usher has supreme dance skills but CB has a winning formula that I must give props to.
In Chicago, the hottest MCs are Kanye, Lupe and Yung Berg...hands down. Lupe is amazing. He needs more consideration and people need to stop hatin' on my boy. He's sick! I never thought I would hear this brand of hip-hop ever again.
Mims knows how to market himself well. He can flow too. I feel that people think that because an artist has a snmash hit that their album won't have heat on it. The Mims album is very balanced. If you think about how him and Richboy dropped at the same time, the only reason Richboy fared better is because he went to a producer on the rise, Polow Da' Don. Mims used his very own production team. That was originality, and I guess people don't want that in hip-hop still even though people complain that they want lyrics. Come on now...make up your minds folks!
What's great about it: Balanced album with bangers like whoa!
This is way better than Usher's latest. Usher got outshined. What happened Ush? Smh. Pick up one of the best R&B albums of the year. Only Ne-Yo has a chance of doing better. I even dig this album more than "Exclusive" by C-Breezy.
Wow. Yung Berg proved me wrong. When he first came out I slept on him but dude is raw and nice wit' it. He knows how to pump out hit and keep it street. He's a balanced artist.
What's great about it: The executive production is on point
What's not so great: The only thing is that there are alot of radio-worth cuts
For all the Africans out there, please support V.I.C. The beats are pretty musical. There is creativity in the production. You have to think that V.I.C. will be back for another album because he seems to know how to market himself and he does have a formula present on the album. He is quite crafty.
What's great about it: The album is vivrant
What's not so great: It could have had more substance
