Jonathan Demme's adaptation of Toni Morrison's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel comes to DVD with a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, while a French soundtrack is recorded in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are no subtitles accessible on this release. Supplemental features include a "making of" featurette and a trailer. Although this film failed to connect with a mass audience, this disc will please those who discovered its merits. Fans of Oprah Winfrey and Jonathan Demme will find this disc most interesting.

I enjoy this movie because it shows the hardships of what slaves actually had to go through at that time. Oprah Winfrey had a beautiful peformance. The only way you are going to enjoy the movie is that you have a vast imajination and it will take you away. I recommend this movie for a good sit down movie!!!
What's great about it: The Imagination of it
What's not so great: Only People with a vast imagination would understand it!!

Schlock producer Charles Band is back in killer doll country once again with this tale of century-old possessed dolls out for revenge against crummy teenagers that wish their masters ill will. When young Guy Filbrook (Jared Kusnitz) moves into a new house with his family, little does he know what evil memories haunt the grounds on which he sleeps. One hundred years earlier, a young girl died under questionable circumstances and was buried in the backyard next to a group of dolls that her abusive father ordered her to bury. When Guy unknowingly unearths the gruesome play-toys, they soon become his only refuge after a group of teenaged jerks begin to harass the lonely boy. Soon Guy's soul is miraculously replaced by the dead girl's, who then breathes life into the dolls in a fit of revenge that will soon claim the lives of the boy's tormentors as well as threaten the life of his sister and her friends, who just so happen to be having a sleepover at their house the night of the massacre.

Alright movie/Should have bad ratings

The movie is okay and it looked like they tried but it didn't work. It was a bad movie only because #1 the dolls in the movie looked as if there was a person controlling them and they made very little face movements. The acting was terrible. It would have been a better movie if it didn't look so low budget. Movies like Chucky and dolly dearest makes this movie look like barney. Could have been better don't waste your time.
What's great about it: Some of the blood scenes
What's not so great: Fake acting/toys dont look real

The movie is a wonderful story of a true persons struggles with adjusting to after freedom times. She looks like a white woman so they think that. Halle Berrys performance is so riviting and convincing. The movie may be a little questionable for small children due to the nature of some of the graphic of language and the hanging scenes. It allows you to be grateful to live in this day and time, and also it allows you to think. Alex Hailey is a wonderful writer and all his storys are so vivd it taps into your imajination. I give it 2 thumbs and it is worth every penny!! So bing your box of kleenex and some popcorn and you will be ready for a great time!! I recommened it!!!
What's great about it: The movie is great to watch with the family or friends!! Its story has heart!
What's not so great: Nothing, its worth each penny!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Denzel Washington's directorial debut, the emotionally stirring Antwone Fisher, comes to DVD; while it's a surprise this film didn't do better in theaters, it will now have it's chance on home video. Fox has done a fine job with this disc, producing an excellent transfer that mirrors the theatrical print. The 2.35:1 anamorphic image (yes, there is a severely cropped pan and scan version also available) shows fine detail and outstanding contrast. Colors are perfectly realized and very realistic. The English 5.1 Dolby Digital track is nothing to really get excited about, as it's based more in the front-center speaker, but the sound is clear throughout, and, for this dialogue-driven film, that's all that can be asked. A decent number of extras have been included here, such as a scene-specific commentary track from Washington and producer Todd Black. Each is enthusiastic and forthcoming, and contribute plenty to a fine track. Also included are three featurettes: "Meeting Antwone Fisher," as would be expected, is more interview-based information of the man who is not only the subject of the film but also wrote the screenplay; "Hollywood and the Navy," the shortest of the three, looks at the (especially post 9/11) relationship between the Navy and the filmmakers; and the last, and longest, is "The Making of Antwone Fisher," a fairly straightforward (and a tad fluffy) look at the overall production. Finally, although there isn't a theatrical trailer for this film, ones for Drumline, In America, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, and Le Divorce are included.
