Alternative Rock is back.

Carnavas is the debut album of Alternative/Shoegaze/Indie band, Silversun Pickups, and as far as a debut album goes, this one has made quiet a strong mark on it's labeled genres.
Starting with the grainy Melatonin, and ending with the conflicting Common Reactor, every song is a ride between dark and gloomy and the beautiful and uplifting emotions of what is Carnavas and the synergy it delivers.
The lyrics seem a little out of place and odd, but for some reason or another, they work. Just as in Nirvana's Nevermind or Billy Corgans self-conflicting music, you find yourself singing the lyrics because it feels right, not because they are clever or well thought out, in the end the raspy vocals of Brian and Nikki's sweet and childish back-ups suit the songs and do deliver Carnavas main feel on an organic way.
It's replay value it's outstanding considering each song has an average of four minutes, they never feel too long or too streched out. Just the right amount needed. In the end, you always find yourself coming back for some more .
After listening to the album more than needed, it is clear that it's something an artist should be proud of. It is outstanding as it is fresh to it's listeners. As a band that was able to find a sound which feels like a deep dream full of angst and transcendental beauty, Silversun Pickups has proved that they have their minds in the right place when they make music, no doubt about it.
Carnavas is a wonderful and memorable ride. Dark, beautiful, deep, explosive, and mostly of all, a string of music that many do not dare to step upon, and a string of music that Silversun Pickups now pull and hold on to.
What's great about it: Well-Crafted, Amazing, Intricatly Beautiful, Uplifting.
What's not so great: Feels blown out and lenghty at times.
I would recommend this to a friend!
