I have always enjoyed Coldplay. For me, they are one of those bands that I can always depend on if I'm looking for something good to listen to. I knew this album would have a different sound to it and that it would probably be a little more pop/techno-y than their other albums. This made me a little skeptical, but of course, as Coldplay does, they made another hit CD. I was afraid they were going to succumb to the typical pop style, but they kept their originality and style, even with the new sound. There were a few points (like 2 or 3) where a sound came in (like a kind of bass or some other effect) that I noticed was not completely Coldplay-like, but each time it lasted for all of a few seconds. Their song, Up In Flames, definitely has a different sound/style to start, but by the end, it's more of a Coldplay-styled song. I think it's pretty cool how they did that. Moving on. I am a big fan of CD's that are constructed well in that you get even more out of the album when you listen to it the whole way through. This is one of those CD's. Highly recommend it!
What's great about it: It's Coldplay, great sound, there's something in it for everyone

Mylo Xyloto vs. Viva La Vida
October 30, 2011
I might agree that Viva La Vida might not have been a very strong CD as a whole, but I liked a lot of their songs on it. What I can say about Mylo Xyloto is that it is different. If you are expecting a traditional Coldplay CD, this is not it. But I think it still has great musical talent in it. I would just be open minded when listening to it.
