Penelope Spheeris' 1994 feature-length updating of The Little Rascals arrives on DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. The closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.0, while Spanish and French soundtracks have been recorded in Dolby Digital Surround. Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include biographies of the cast and crew, and production notes. This is an acceptable by-the-numbers title from Universal.

John Landis' Three Amigos comes to DVD with a standard full-frame transfer that preserves the original widescreen ratio of the 1986 theatrical release. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Stereo. English, Spanish, and French subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include cast and crew bios. This is obviously a title no one gave much thought to before releasing. It is redeemed slightly by the inexpensive list price, but the unimpressive picture and sound as well as the lack of extras is sure to displease fans of this cult favorite.

Troy Miller's family film Jack Frost comes to DVD with a pair of transfers. The widescreen anamorphic transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and is preferable to the standard full-frame image. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. Subtitles are accessible in both of these languages as well. Supplemental materials include production notes and theatrical trailers. This disc will entertain the entire family.

Wolfgang Petersen's do-or-die high-seas epic makes a smooth transition to DVD from Warner Bros. A gorgeous, anamorphic, 2.35:1 widescreen transfer and Dolby 5.1 Sound brings the titular storm howling to life. In addition, the disc is awash in extras, including a collection of commentaries from director Petersen, author Sebastian Junger, and key members of the visual effects team. Each provides unique insights into the making of the movie as well as into the real story that inspired it. The DVD also includes a "making of" special that first aired on HBO, a documentary on the real "perfect storm" of 1991, a host of storyboards and concept art, and the obligatory trailers and cast and crew bios. Overall, this DVD takes what was essentially a big-budget popcorn flick and outfits it with enough sights and sounds to make it a rather seaworthy addition to someone's collection.

Oliver & Company comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.66:1. An English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, while French and Spanish soundtracks have been recorded in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are no subtitles, but the English soundtrack is closed-captioned. Supplemental materials include a pair of animated shorts, three featurettes, a still photo gallery, and a pair of karaoke-ready songs, including the Billy Joel penned "Why Should I Worry?" This is a strong disc from Disney/Buena Vista that earns points for having extras that will appeal to both adults and children.

The winning Disney film Lilo & Stitch comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.66:1. An English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, while Spanish and French soundtracks have been recorded in Dolby Digital Stereo. There are neither subtitles nor closed-captions on this release. Supplemental materials include deleted scenes, music videos, documentaries about Hawaii and the Hula dance, and an entertaining section in which Stitch appears in a handful of Disney classics. A build your own alien interactive games rounds out this fine package from Disney/Buena Vista that will appeal to both children and adults.

Catherine Hardwicke's drama about rebellious teenage girls, Thirteen, comes to DVD with a pair of transfers. The widescreen anamorphic transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and is preferable to the standard full-frame image. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, while Spanish and French soundtracks have been recorded in Dolby Digital Surround. English and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by Hardwicke, co-screenwriter/actress Nikki Reed, lead Evan Rachel Wood, and actor Brady Corbet. They recount many stories about how they were forced to stretch their limited budget, and how difficult the shooting schedule was as the child actors could legally work only so many hours per day. A handful of deleted scenes with optional commentary, a making-of featurette, and the theatrical trailer round out this solid release from 20th Century Fox.

This movie show how cruel high school can be if you aren't careful. I didn't care for the ending though.

Ron Howard's kidnapping thriller Ransom comes to DVD with a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1. The film has neither looked nor sounded better on home video. Spanish subtitles are accessible, and a French soundtrack has also been included. The extensive supplemental materials include a detailed commentary by Howard. He discusses many elements of the production and is full of praise for his cast. Those who like insider gossip will greatly enjoy the story of what happened the day Mel Gibson was nominated for an Oscar for directing Braveheart. Numerous deleted scenes have been included, and two behind-the-scenes featurettes allow the actors to talk about the process of making the film. This disc was released simultaneously with a number of Ron Howard films that have all been outfitted with quality extras.

IS IT WORTH PAYING SOMEONE TO CALABRATE OR TWEEK THE SETTINGS ON MY SAMSUNG 52A650 LCD

Yes!! It is very much worth it. They make your tv look the very best that it can in your setting. I would recommend anyone doing this with a tv 42" or larger.
