This two-disc set of Tony Scott's True Romance offers a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English soundtracks are rendered in both DTS 5.1 and Dolby Digital Stereo. English, Spanish, and French subtitles are accessible. The extensive supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by Tony Scott, a second commentary from stars Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette, a third commentary track by Oscar-winning screenwriter Quentin Tarantino, storyboards, deleted scenes with optional director's commentary, a featurette, a photo gallery, the original theatrical trailer, an alternate ending with optional commentary from both Scott and Tarantino, and a variety of supporting actors (Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer, Brad Pitt, Michael Rapaport) providing scene-specific commentary. This is an outstanding set from Warner Bros.

This underground hit from the '80s comes to DVD in a widescreen anamorphic picture format (with a theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1) and a single audio track, English Dolby 2.0, with Spanish and French subtitles and closed-captioning available. Special or bonus features include a bit of behind-the-scenes footage, a director-narrated audio commentary, a visual effects commentary, some information on the film's score, a short featurette on the formation and fleshing out of the character concepts, and a photo gallery of stills. While the picture quality is of about a VHS level of detail and coloring, the sound quality is strictly mono and barely adequate, just as it was in the film's original theatrical release.

It is better if you skip this one. Not a very good movie.

Steve Oedekerk's follow-up to the surprise smash Ace Ventura Pet Detective comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. A closed-captioned English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, while Spanish and French soundtracks have been recorded in Dolby Digital Surround. Subtitles are accessible in all three of those languages. Supplemental materials include production notes and theatrical trailers. This disc does a superb job of presenting the film.

Like the TV series that shared the same title, The Untouchables (1987) was an account of the battle between gangster Al Capone and lawman Eliot Ness, this time in the form of a feature film boasting big stars, a big budget, and a script from respected playwright David Mamet. Kevin Costner stars as Ness, a federal agent who has come to Chicago during the Prohibition Era, when corruption in the local police department is rampant. His mission is to put crime lord Capone (Robert De Niro) out of business, but Capone is so powerful and popular that Ness is not taken seriously by the law or the press. One night, discouraged, he meets a veteran patrolman, Jimmy Malone (Sean Connery), and discovers that the acerbic Irishman is the one honest man he's been seeking. Malone has soon helped Ness recruit a gunslinger rookie, George Stone (Andy Garcia), and, joined by nebbish accountant Oscar Wallace (Charles Martin Smith), the men doggedly pursue Capone and his illegal interests. At first a laughingstock, Ness soon has Capone outraged over his and Malone's sometimes law-bending tactics, and the vain mobster strikes back in vicious style. Ultimately, it is the most unexpected and minor of crimes, tax evasion, which proves Capone's undoing. All of the credits for The Untouchables boasted big names, including music from Ennio Morricone and costumes by Giorgio Armani. Director Brian De Palma continued his tradition of including a homage to past masters of the cinema with a taut stairway shoot-out reminiscent of a similar sequence in Sergei Eisenstein's Battleship Potemkin (1925).

Kenneth Branagh's charming, all-star rendition of Much Ado About Nothing comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. English and French soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Surround, while a Spanish soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital Mono. Subtitles are accessible in all three of those languages as well. Supplemental materials include the original theatrical trailer, and a making-of featurette. This is a fine release from MGM/UA that should please Shakespeare fans as well as romantic comedy enthusiasts.

This two disc version of Guy Ritchie's crime comedy Snatch utilizes the Superbit technology, which utilizes all of the memory on a disc in order to maximize the visual and audio quality. The film is presented in a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. Closed-captioned English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1. English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, and Thai subtitles are accessible. Disc two contains deleted scenes with optional commentary, storyboards, a making-of featurette, filmographies, trailers, and television advertisements. While this disc offers the best possible picture and sound, fans will have to choose between this and the other release which contains a commentary track recorded by the director.

IS IT WORTH PAYING SOMEONE TO CALABRATE OR TWEEK THE SETTINGS ON MY SAMSUNG 52A650 LCD

Yes!! It is very much worth it. They make your tv look the very best that it can in your setting. I would recommend anyone doing this with a tv 42" or larger.
