Volume 2 of the animated series the revolutionized cartoons as we know them! This volume marks the first appearance of the Riddler in animated continuity as well. Also, Zatanna makes her first ever appearance in animation in the episode of the same name. She's always been my favorite female hero, so it was nice to see her finally given the credit she deserves. bottom-line: If you're a returning fan, or a new guy (or girl), trying to see what all the hype was about in the 90's CHECK THIS SET OUT!

Package Description: New Partners. New Crimes. Same Wackos. In the hit show that continues the Batman storyline from the Emmy-winning Batman: The Animated Series, two years have passed and Batman still protects the streets of Gotham City from the demented crminials that inhabit its dark alleys. But irreconcilable differences with Dick Grayson lead to the collapse of the Batman/Robin crimefighting duo and the birth of Gotham's new hero Nightwing. Batgirl fights at Batman's side, and a new Robin takes flight after Batman's chance encounter with young Tim Drake. In these 24 thrilling episodes, the Gotham Knights face their worst enemies -- The Joker, Penguin, Mr. Freeze and many more -- in a comprehensive 4-disc set that completes the Batman animated saga!

Finally, NIGHTWING ANIMATED!
on September 16, 2008

well, it was a nice run, but sadly, all good things must come to an end, and, Batman: The Animated Series is no exception. Luckily for the hardcore fans like myself, though, this set features some of the finest episodes from Dini and the gang. There are also some not so great, like "Critters" (written by steve gerber who isn't fit to write ANYTHING), but the good definitely outweighs the bad! Another thing I loved about these last episodes is that they introduced Nightwing into the animated series. Finally, the second greatest hero of all time got his moment in the spotlight! This set mixes serious, heartbreaking episodes like Over The Edge, with side-splitting episodes like Beware The Creeper, neither overpowering the other. Bottom-line: You'd be out of your mind not to pick this up, the bonus content is good and the episodes are totally stellar!
What's great about it: Nightwing finally plays a more prominent role in an animated series, great voice-acting, great plot.
What's not so great: none

This third DVD collection of episodes of Batman: The Animated Series contains a handful of interesting extras including audio and video commentary on some of the episodes by many of the people who worked on the show. Each of the episodes is presented in the original broadcast aspect ratio of 1.33:1. English soundtracks are rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. A featurette concerning how Batgirl entered Batman's life rounds out this title.

TOO AWESOME!!

Ok, so this is the Batman I grew up with. In my mind there's no other actor who can even come close to matching Kevin Conroy's amazing performance as Batman. This series was revolutionary for animation, and was also the first cartoon to say "hey, just because it's a cartoon doesn't mean adults can't enjoy this too."...none of the stories are "dumbed down" and, to be quite honest, there episodes could be strong medicine at times.....luckily Bruce Timm, Alan Burnett, Paul Dini, and all the amzing talent at WB at the times found the right mix of kid-friendly and adult-friendly and produced arguably the single greatest animated show of all time. And now for the special features......the commentary on 3 of the episodes is very insightful and interesting to listen to..... another Batgirl featurette on disc 1 also gave a great deal of insight.......this volume also happens to mark Batgirl's first appearance in the animated series, along with my personal favorite villain, Ra's al Ghul. bottom line, wether you're a returning fan like myself or you want to find out what all the hype was about, you WON'T be disappointed with this purchase!
What's great about it: Kevin Conroy as Batman, stellar animation and storylines, something adults and children can both enjoy.
