A Good Game....If You Cheat
on June 22, 2010

Pros:
- It has some pretty good graphics.
- The story line was actually pretty good.
- Once you get used to it, the aerial combat was somewhat manageable (not always though).
- Being able to highjack an enemy craft in mid air - that was kind of cool.
- The design of the weapons was quite unique.
--------------------------
Cons:
- Escort Missions - I Really Hate Escort Missions. The people you're supposed to protect are total wimps and get killed A LOT. And the checkpoints, in many areas, are spread way too far apart.
- Before you get your jetpack, a lot of the ground combat can be very repetitive.
- Many areas of combat were unreasonably hard.
- Controls of the jetpack, at times, can be very difficult to handle (considering the speed of your enemies' air craft at close quarters), but manageable after you get used to it.
- Frame rates are terribly inconsistent.
--------------------------
The game itself was O.K. (not great, but O.K.). The "Watchers" (the robotic enemies) looks suspiciously like the Geth from Mass Effect (no points for originality there guys). Personally, I did not care for the ending (bad way to end it).
However, considering it was only $20, I can overlook several of the negatives and concentrate on the positive aspects of the game. If you have the extra time & money, then I would probably recommend the game - otherwise I would save the money for something else.
What's great about it: Graphics, Story Line, Weapon Designs
What's not so great: Installation was terrible (lengthy & failed a few times). Difficulty level in areas.
I would recommend this to a friend!

SynopsisFor centuries an ancient band of protectors, the Grey Wardens, have battled the evil Darkspawn forces that threaten the land. Legends foretold that slaying the Archdemon would bring an end to the Darkspawn, but its death has brought no change. The game is completely reactive to the decisions you make and how you handle complex situations to shape your experience. Import your character from Dragon Age: Origins or begin fresh as a Grey Warden from the neighboring land of Orlais. Meet five new party members and an old favorite from Dragon Age: Origins. Battle horrifying creatures, including the Inferno Golem and the Spectral Dragon as you battle with ancient guardians, sworn to defend against these evil forces.

Great potential, but came up a little short
on March 27, 2010

Pros:
The graphics were the same as Origins – excellent. Good cut-scenes. It had a somewhat decent story line (not as engrossing as the main game though).
They increased the level cap to 35.
The puzzles were easier than the ones in the main game.
The combat was, as usual, excellent.
And they added a few new skills and specialties.
--------------------------
Cons:
Since Awakening was “designed for stand alone Origins”, the items that you acquire in the DLC expansions Do Not Transfer to Awakening. Whatever items from the main game that you want to take with you should be In Your Inventory when you transfer the character.
Oghren is the only character that joins up with you from Origins. Unfortunately, they set your influence with him back to Zero (Neutral). The new characters are not as ‘colorful’ as your previous team.
A little over 1 day’s game play (too short for a $40 purchase)
I didn’t much care for the ending. You defeat the last boss creature and that’s pretty much the end. Your hero walks off and the usual ‘description screens’ show up telling you how your decisions affected every one else in the kingdom.
--------------------------
Even though I am recommending the expansion, I’d still wait for the price come down a little.
What's great about it: Graphics, story concept, new enemies, some skill & items
What's not so great: DLC Items Do Not Transfer, too short for a $40 expansion
I would recommend this to a friend!

Decent Game

Although I wouldn’t say that this game is as good as BioShock 1, it’s still a good game.
You start the game “10 years later” as a deactivated Big Daddy and for reasons unknown, you re-activate. You go up against the usual splicers, but you also have to take on other more advanced Big Daddies as well as the new Big Sisters (who are much faster and more agile that you are).
There are several new plasmids & weapons/tools to play with (remote hacking darts being my one of my favorites).
Oddly enough, I had a little lag when the settings were at maximum (almost unheard of on My rig). So basically, I wouldn’t trust the Minimum specs at all. Personally, I’d recommend a processor that’s much higher than the minimum “Pentium 4 530 3.0 GHz” (like a Quad Core for example).
Even though BioShock 2 is not quite as good as BioShock 1, I would still recommend it.
What's great about it: Graphics & Sound, story line, new abilities & weapons
What's not so great: A little bit of lag even on a top notch gaming rig
I would recommend this to a friend!

Epic Game - In my Top 5 List
on January 14, 2010
Posted by: DC4912

Pros: Pretty Much Everyting
Cons: Long loading times on world map (if you’ve been playing a long time).
Dragon Age is like a combination of Neverwinter Nights 2, Knights of the Old republic & Oblivion. It is absolutely in my top 5 list. It’s a great blend of Strategy and Roll Playing.
The character creation is just like Oblivion, where you can change your character’s features (hair, color, nose, eyes, etc…).
The interface is almost identical to the Neverwinter Nights 2 overhead view. And when you zoom in, you have a 3rd person view.
It has a pause feature before combat initiates, just like in Knights of the Old Republic (which you can turn off if you like).
It definitely has Re-playability. For me, the installation was smooth as silk and I’ve have had no problems at all so far (and I’m playing it for the second time).
The graphics, cut-scenes and story line are all superb.
The variety of Weapons, Armor and Magic is incredible.
This game is worth every penny spent.
What's great about it: Pretty Much Everyting
What's not so great: Long loading times on world map (if you’ve been playing a long time).

Worst Game Ever
on January 14, 2010

Where to start? Well, first I’m shocked that something so terrible could come from Bethesda. This is actually the WORST game I have ever played in my life (and I’ve been playing computer based games since they became available in the late 1970s! (Radio Shack days).
The Language: Not even a full fledged Marine who has done 2 consecutive tours in Iraq has a foul mouth like this guy! More than earned the M17+ Rating. I just wonder if a 12 year old wrote the dialog.
No Jumping (but you do have a crouch option).
Game is about 3 hours long (NOT worth the money).
Story is weak at best.
Weapons carried are limited to 2 at one time. Very limited variety of weapons too.
Hideously repetitive! “Go here, shoot this, and blow up that. Repeat (Often)”
Under No Circumstances would I ever recommend this game.
What's great about it: Some Graphics
What's not so great: EVERYTHING
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

An Excellent Game

Pros:
Very Good Graphics, Weapons, Magic & Story
Cons:
Piranha Bytes understated the minimum specs again.
In essence, RISEN is Piranha Bytes’ vision of what Gothic 4 would be. When Jowood Studios and Piranha Bytes “went their separate ways”, P.B. created RISEN.
It is definitely in the spirit of the Gothic series and is, for the most part, very well done. They even make a reference or two about Gothic 3 that only an avid Gothic series player would get. It uses the same engine that G3 used.
The learning curve is pretty easy. Controls are easily customizable. And of course, it’s very re-playable. I’ve played completely through 3 times already.
I have a very stout gaming rig (Intel Quad Core, 4GB, GeForce 9800GT, full SATA, etc…), and still had a few areas with some lags. But that is easily overshadowed by the other great qualities of the game.
I would definitely recommend this game.

Short & Mindless
on January 3, 2010
Posted by: DC4912
from Knoxville, TN
Pros:
Good graphics, imaginative races, weapons & abilities.
Cons:
No Bases, no building armies, no real strategy apart from keeping your limited group alive. Short game.
This game is for LAN or Internet Play Only (they should warn people about things like that, on the cover in Big Letters). You can play a “single player campaign” in LAN, but there are Only 18 Missions total. Cut scenes are decent enough, but the final one is….lacking.
If you like mindless combat with no strategy to speak of, while facing overwhelming odds, you will probably like this game. Otherwise I would steer clear of this one.
What's great about it: Some graphics, races, some weapons & abilities
What's not so great: Not a REAL Strategy game (in my opinion)
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Programmers & Developers Got Lazy
on December 30, 2009
Posted by: DC4912
from Knoxville, TN
Pros:
The graphics and sound are quite acceptable. The characters are actually like the animated TV series (voices, looks, attitudes, etc…).
Cons:
The controls are unreliable at best. The camera angles absolutely stink - it’s like a long ranged 3rd person view. You can’t save your game unless you are logged into LIVE. It’s a good thing that you have unlimited lives, because you will fall to your death A LOT. To be totally honest, this game is boring (very repetitive).
I had some major problems getting the game to run after installing it (several times). I even tried both 32 & 64 bit O.S.s. I finally installed the game to the “recommended default directory” and it worked fine (have no idea why that should make a difference).
All I can say is that I’m glad I didn’t pay $50 for this.
What's great about it: Graphics & Sound FX
What's not so great: Installation, controls, & terrible design
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

An OK expansion, not great but OK
on June 10, 2009
Posted by: DC4912
from Knoxville, TN
Pros:
Good graphics, Some of the storyline, a few imaginative weapons & armor.
Cons:
I wouldn’t necessarily say that it’s long; I would say that it’s tedious though. They tried to make up for the short length my making many of the scenarios maze-like. The mods seemed to be unstable. I had 5 crashes while playing the expansions (not during the main game however).
Whether or not to recommend this one was a little tough. Basically you’re looking at $10 per mod and each expansion only takes 2-3 hours to play. Even though it had its good points, I, reluctantly, have to say that I would not recommend the expansion pack (until they add another mod or two).
What's great about it: Graphics, some of the story, weapons & armor
What's not so great: Maze like for the most part, unstable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Had Potential, but they Messed Up
on May 22, 2009
Posted by: DC4912

CONS: The game had serious potential, but the developers messed up - badly. The A.I. is totally brain damaged; several times, my wing members slammed into me (killing me). The camera controls during autopilot are horrific; making you feel like you're on a poorly designed rollercoaster. There are an UNGODLY amount of controls to learn (over enginered & unnecessary).
PROS: If you have a high end system with a top notch graphics card, sound card and a lot of RAM, the graphics are very good (mine was in 1680x1050 and had no lags).
Overall, I Would Not recommend this game.
What's great about it: Graphics, Sound (if you have an advanced system)
What's not so great: The A.I. is brain damaged, terrible learning curve, bad controls
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
