NOOOO! PLEEEEZE don't call these "oldies"! These songs put me right back in school days - or at least right next to the jukebox after school. Great for a trip down memory lane and some happy tunes!
The liberation of Auschwitz is documented firsthand in this remarkable historical footage shot by Soviet cameraman Captain Alexander Vorontsov and later used as evidence by the prosecution at the Nuremburg War Crime Trials. As the footage tells the tale of the six-thousand prisoners left to perish as the Russian Army descended upon the notorious concentration camp, Vorontsov offers a firsthand account of the harrowing effect that witnessing the horrifying scene had on himself and his fellow Russian liberators.

I've been to Auschwitz. I think everyone should go at least once. So that history may never be repeated. However, the next best thing to going there is to watch this. Not a happy, feel-good sort of movie....but a great documentary.

You have GOT to love these guys! They are not into a bunch of hype and don't run with every little ghosty thing they see or hear. They really investigate the claims, investigate things they see or hear. Then if THEY say the activity is paranormal, you can believe it! I hope they stick around for a long time!!
The glossy remake of The Thomas Crown Affair sports a good look, but little in the way of extras, being a typical MGM/UA DVD release. The dual-sided disc includes both widescreen (2.35:1 letterboxed, non-anamorphic) and full-frame versions of the film. The video portion of the disc is of excellent quality, with a good color balance and good flesh tones. There appears to be little edge enhancement, and blacks are solid, with no indication of compression artifacts. Oddly enough, there are very occasional print blemishes, unexpected for a 1999 release. The movie as a whole does have a low-key look to it, with some scenes appearing almost to have been shot under natural lighting. English and French Dolby 5.1 tracks are provided, along with a director's commentary from John McTiernan. The audio is solid without demonstrating a great deal of flair or innovation, though there are some nice tracking and directional audio effects (especially in the glider sequence). The bass is solid and clean, and those whose systems include subwoofers will benefit. Dialogue is clear throughout and well separated, and there is a very nice music mix that utilizes the soundstage well. The French track sounds a bit unbalanced, but the voice cast is good and the dubbing accurate. The extras on the disc are limited to trailers for the original film and this remake, as well as the McTiernan commentary. The trailers are in excellent shape, both on the video and audio sides. The McTiernan commentary, however, is as dull as dishwater, even though he focuses on the technical aspects of getting the film made -- he's a droner, and it is hard to focus on his voice. Still, this is a good, solid disc, if not overly exciting.

Whew! Pierce Brosnan and Renee Russo have some chemistry! Well, ok, at least the characters do!
And how fun to have Faye Dunaway appear as Thomas' analyst in this remake.
A good break from my Christmas faves of a serious nature. I finally watched this one last year and LOL quite a bit. Definitely a good one to add to a Christmas collection.
One of my favorite Christmas albums. Some of the traditional carols, of course. But the other songs are just as beautiful and meaningful. Keeping this one in my collection :)
This collection of funnyman Chris Farley's greatest hits from his years on Saturday Night Live gets a solid presentation for its release on DVD. Saturday Night Live: The Best of Chris Farley has been transferred to disc in its original full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1 and the audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo. No multiple language options have been included, though the clips are closed-captioned in English. Bonus materials include photo galleries, outtakes, unseen dress rehearsal footage, and more.

Saturday Night Live sure knows how to showcase up-and-comers! Chris Farley put all of himself into his characters. What an entertainer!! DVD is great for some belly-laugh therapy!
What a great team-up. These two actors complement each other wonderfully! A few sad moments - but as a whole, this movie is terrific! Lots of adventure and loads of sarcasm!! :)
