TCFromDUVAL's Reviews

In the year 2029, the world has become interconnected by a vast electronic network that permeates every aspect of life. That same network also becomes a battlefield for Tokyo's Section Nine security force, which has been charged with apprehending the master hacker known only as the Puppet Master. Spearheading the investigation is Major Motoko Kusanagi, who -- like many in her department -- is a cyborg officer, far more powerful than her human appearance would suggest. And yet as the Puppet Master, who is even capable of hacking human minds, leaves a trail of victims robbed of their memories, Kusanagi ponders the very nature of her existence: is she purely an artificial construct, or is there more? This two disc special edition of Ghost in the Shell has been digitally remastered in anamorphic widescreen and is playable in 6.1 DTS-ES Surround Sound or 5.1 Dolby Digital-EX Surround Sound in either English or Japanese with optional English subtitles, and is also playable in Dolby Digital Stereo Sound in Spanish, French, Italian, or German. This release also includes extras such as character dossiers, creator biography, director biography, production report, Digital Works, trailers, and previews.

sci-fi anime super action

This anime like Akira revolutionized anime besides having just a straight out plot that could be followed by anyone. This anime was created for an intelligence audience. The philosophical qoutes and verses from the Bible that are incorporated into this movie only make it more revolutionary.
So revolutionary that the creators of the Matrix (The Wachowski brothers) acknowledge that Ghost in the Shell gave them influence for the trilogy. Also there is a rumor that there will be a live action version and steven spielberg will direct(only a rumor i heard through the grape vine).
I would deffiently recommend this to anybody. This is not the short of movie you can get up an walk away from because you have to absorb every lil bit in order to get the full effect. Each time you watch it again you notic something new.

This is a great movie. Many say that this movie as stolen its plot from various other animes, but thats OK. Its a great anime movie overall. The music throughout the movie was great. The animation was extremely smooth elegant and it was insanely detailed. There were some scenes where you wonder how someone can be that detailed. The only thing is i wish it was a little bit longer so there can be more character depth. The special edition really makes an impact, the package the 2 discs are in are 100% recycled matieral and it has great artwork inside and outside the box. Thanks for reading hope this helps.

Though it makes up for some of the previous edition's mishaps, the Jaws: 30th Anniversary Edition is an almost-perfect DVD that suffers only from a bit of laziness on the part of Universal. Released in 2000 as one of director Steven Spielberg's first blockbusters unveiled on DVD, the Jaws: Collector's Edition was a big seller in the stores, yet still managed to fall short thanks to the studio's unwillingness to include the full two-hour documentary from the laserdisc, long thought of as the definitive look back on the troubled production. So now here comes this two-disc set celebrating the crowd-pleaser's pearl anniversary and the good news is that the documentary has indeed been reinstated to its full glory. Those who have only seen the previous hour-long cut are in for a big treat here, thanks to the incredible detail that was culled from the various sources in the production, including John Williams, Richard Dreyfuss, Roy Scheider, Peter Benchley, production designer Joe Alves, and, of course, Spielberg himself. Another bit of good news involves the inclusion of a never-before-available nine-minute interview on-set with the director from 1974 that gives the audience a rare glimpse of the young director on just his second day of shooting, no doubt already feeling the constraints of the sea-bound production. For aficionados, it's the kind of engaging footage that is endlessly interesting, given the kind of Vietnam hell that followed Spielberg on the rest of the shoot. Other new bits of goodness involve the inclusion of both 5.1 DTS and Dolby tracks (previous versions included either one or the other) along with the infamous original theatrical mono audio track, which will please the hardcore fans out there to no end (many were not happy with the enhanced 5.1 tracks). What isn't pleasing about this edition is the exclusion of the famed theatrical trailers that figured prominently into the success of the film. This lone exclusion will prevent most customers from getting rid of their previous version, which makes little sense in the grand scheme of things given that the rest of the still archives were carried over, including other marketing pieces such as posters, books, T-shirts, and much more. This, along with the fact that no new menus were designed for this edition, just makes Universal look bad. It's like they listened to the gripes about the documentary on the last one, but didn't feel the need to dedicate more money into an anniversary edition of one of the biggest films of all time. The result is yet another DVD that gives the same "play all" feature to the deleted scenes, with the added annoyance of outtakes being thrown into the same feature as well. Though no one will miss the trivia game or the shark facts from the previous version, there will be those who will resent the silliness involved with the loss of the very integral trailers. Still, with the full documentary and the reinstated original mono mix, many will pony up for this release, which comes with a nice commemorative booklet and the same fine fullscreen transfer carried over from the Fullscreen Collector's Edition.

Honestly i have watched this movie since i was 4, now i am 21 and the movie still has not lost its flair of excitment and suspense. Its such a great movie that people i know who dont care for suspensful or thriller movies cant believe that they never seen it until recently. they also cant believe that something made in 1975 can be so good. So i am urging you if you have never seen this movie buy it immediately because you cant beat the price bestbuy is selling it for, unless ofcourse you have one of those 5 dollar certificates from bestbuy haha. Go out, Get it, Get a snack and drink, Sit down and Enjoy!

CGI + Animation = Great Flick

Karas: The Complete Collection is the best way to view this film. It is also the best bang for your buck instead of buying both seperately. After you watch the first film it leaves you thinking "Hold On! Wait! What just happend?" , if your still waiting for the second movie instead of buying this box set which is cheaper overall, your gonna be waiting and wondering and dying of anticipation to see how this epic story ends. The animation and characters were great the first dvd leaves you wanting to know more about the characters and why they are they way they are , and stunned with the action packed scenes mixing cgi and animation together in this extravagant feature. The second dvd fills you in on who they are and why they have or were chosen for their inevitable destinies. I urge you to buy this movie set and not just watch the first part and think what this was all about but watch both back to back to get the full effect of this epic story.
What's great about it: Great Story Line, Great special effects and animation.

Stunning Animation

Appleseed is a great anime that is done completely in CGI. I'll give a brief description but I won't use any spoilers. The movie is in the distant future after a great war which eliminated much of mankind. At a city that is basically a eutopia, they have created beings called bioroids that express only limited emotions, expressing only happiness joy and some sorrow but cannot express hatred due to their programming to do what is best for humankind. yeah that lil description sounds boring but i left out the main characters and the extreme action scenes they have incorporated into this film. I deffiently recommend this film.
What's great about it: Great CGI, Great Music and score for the movie
