CORSAIR XENEON 27QHD240 OLED
on June 8, 2023
Posted by: elitegangsta
I was very excited when I got the opportunity to use the new Corsair Xenon 27QHD240 OLED monitor. I was immediately impressed with the unboxing experience. Corsair had clear and easy to follow instructions printed right on the box exterior. It was easy to open, and mount the included stand without damaging the display itself. The display lays flat inside it's packaged foam surrounding, but lays high enough to make it possible to attach the stand. This attention to detail made me excited to get this turned on!
Once setup on my desk, I noticed just how thin the display itself was. The only real thickness comes from the I/O panel where the mount is also attached. The overall design aesthetic is extremely minimal, with the slim bezels. There is a white Corsair logo printed on the front side of the monitor stand, and a cutout of the Corsair logo on the back. I found both to be subtle and not distracting. The rear also has a triangle mesh pattern that looked modern, subtle, and unique all at the same time.
There are plenty of I/O ports on this monitor that will serve any possible need. HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, USB-C with DisplayPort alt mode, 4 USB port type A.
The menu button is also super unique. Once powered on, once your hand is placed below the panel, button indicators illuminate on the panel showing you which buttons correspond to what inputs without having to look underneath. I found this to be extraordinarily helpful and very well throughout.
Moving on to how the panel looks visually. This is obviously the main reason for this display. Upon initial viewing, I went from super excited to very disappointed almost instantly. I own many OLED TVs and am intimately familiar with the technology. This monitor met non of my initial expectations. The 1440p image was fairly blurry and the colors were far too over saturated. I played with the on screen menu color and sharpness adjustments, though I was never quite able to reach anything I could consider to be "accurate color" right off the bat. Sharpness by default is also set to 5 out of 10. Most OLED displays I've used, you'd set this to 0, and images would be super sharp. This is also my experience with most monitors. Setting this to 0 here, resulted in a super blurry image, so I reluctantly left this on 5. Setting above 5 resulted in obvious post processing of sharpness and also hurt image quality. After running Windows display calibration and setting saturation to a lower setting, I found colors to then be mostly accurate, however, this is nowhere near a reference display coloring, nor would I put it close to any of the LG TVs, despite this being an LG panel Corsair used. Black performance is perfect, which I would expect from an OLED panel. Watching OLED test/demo videos did result in a beautiful image, though these images lend themselves to being demoed on high contrast over exaggerated colors, so I expected perfection here. When using the monitor on a desktop setting, I noticed text looks odd due to the subpixel layout on OLED panels. I'm not going to go into detail in this review, but you can research "chroma subsample" to understand more about this effect. I then realized, the blurriness of the panel actually masks this effect a bit and fully believe, the initial blurriness I noticed is intentional, not a panel flaw. While most people will likely prefer this experience, and I'm sure Corsair will hear less complaints vs is the chroma subsampling was more visible, I would have much preferred sharper image. After all, the chroma subsampling issue is not present in games at all, which is really the only use case for an OLED monitor to begin with.
Performance wise, the 240hz panel is brilliant. The instant pixel transition characteristics of OLED also shine here. Movement in games were quick, not blurry (motion blur) and felt superb compared to even the best LCDs. This is what really made the OLED panel shine. The Gsync capabilities also resulted in a perfect, tear free gaming experience.
Corsair also includes a 3 year, no burn in and no dead pixel warranty. This is extraordinary as it eliminated any roadblocks, or hesitation to buy and use due to burn in worries. I cannot imagine using this monitor for typical workstation type stuff due to the fear of burn in anyway, but having this level of support takes any actual problem a non-issue.
Overall, this is a very well thought out product and Corsair clearly spent time considering user experience, and it shows. The image quality issues I mentioned are fairly minor in the overall experience. And while this is far from the most accurate OLED display I have seen and used, it still offers good quality and exceptional blacks. As one of the first consumer OLED monitors to come out, I believe Corsair has a win with this model, and it can only improve from here. Much thanks to Corsair for being one of the first to pioneer OLED tech, being thoughtful on the design, and I cannot wait to see what they do with the next generation.

ASUS-ROG STRIX G814JZ-G18.I94080
on June 5, 2023
Posted by: elitegangsta
I had the pleasure of reviewing the new ASUS G18.I94080 and boy was I excited to get started with this beast of a laptop! On paper, this laptop is well equipped with a 13th gen i9 13980HX 24 core processor (32 logical cores) at 2200Mhz, 16GB of DDR5 RAM (all you need for a top end gaming machine), 1TB of m.2nvme 4th gen storage and the heart of the rig, RTX4080 all running on a factory calibrated 18" 16:10 QHD display (2560x1600). This laptop is equipped with plenty of I/O ports as well, from a HDMI 2.1 output for an external monitor or TV, 2 USB C ports, that can operate as display port out as well, 1 GB ethernet port all on the left side. On the right side are 2 USB 3.1 A ports. There is an undermounted LED light wrapping around the front, and RGB illuminated keyboard with a number pad to the right. There is no webcam on the display itself, but I did not find this to be something of importance as this laptop was made to do 1 thing and 1 thing only, play game.
So how do these impressive specs pan out in the real world? In short, extremely well without any noticeable compromise. Well, that isn't entirely true... the only compromise here is the laptop is held together by a plastic body vs a fully metal one, however, that is the only corner cut on this machine, and frankly, the plastic is of high quality, the laptop feels premium, and I'll take the cost saving here for something that essentially doesn't matter at the end of the day.
This laptop destroyed any game I threw at it, while owning benchmarks for breakfast. Let me break it down:
Benchmarks:
3D Mark TimeSpy (default settings) 17191
Heaven 6152

Games:
Halo Infinite - Maximum Settings - DLSS off - averages 140FPS using built in display
Red Dead Redemption 2 - Maximum Settings - DLSS off - averaged 90 FPS
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 - Maximum Settings - DLSS off - Averaged 200FPS
Counter-Strike Go - Maximum Settings - DLSS off - Averages the maximum 240FPS
Street Fighter 6 - Maximum Settings - DLSS off - Averaged 180 FPS
Fan noise was very minimal for a laptop of this power. Fan noise was apparent if not wearing a headset, but it was a mild woosh of moving air vs annoying mini fans. I heard absolutely no coil wine what so ever, which is something this model laptop has been known to exhibit in the past. I had absolutely, positively, no coil noise of any kind. The system maintained rock solid stability, never crashed, overheated, or struggled even slightly during the nearly 2 weeks I ran this thing hard.
One this to note, there were many updates, including firmware I ran upon initial setup. I allowed Armoury Crate to download and apply everything, as well as ran Windows updates until completed. I know Armoury Crate is a point of contention in the gaming community, but I've barely had an issue with it and I've owned MANY ASUS ROG products to date. It typically boils down to firmware being up to date, and proper drivers being installed.
The RGB lighting effects are nice, the ASUS Aura Creator aids in customizing these to literally, anything you can imagine up.
The build in display is GORGEOUS. It is spot on 99.9% RGB and DCI-P3 accurate. My model had NO stage lighting effect, edge bleed, or ghosting. Colors were phenomenally saturated, yet accurate, blacks were VERY even and hit around an 8% grey is brightness turned down slightly, nothing compared to OLED, however, for IPS, this is a brilliant display. I am also a videophile who expects perfection from their displays. For a "budget" laptop, this display is fantastic. The 240Hz refresh rate, when used to it's maximum abilities (ie: games like CS:GO) there was no noticeable blur or image ghosting.
I round the RTX4080 switched over from the built in Intel chip every single time without fail.
Keyboard is nice and responsive as well, touch pad equally responsive.
All in all, this is an outstanding laptop that will outperform most people's full desktop. For the MSRP of $2500 you cannot go wrong. If you happen to get a model that matched my experience, you will be head over heels for this thing. Thank you ASUS for the experience, and thank you for making a solid performing laptop, that checks every necessary box, and leave out the stuff that doesn't matter, to keep a well balance price to performing laptop.

Greenworks 3000 PSI Electric Pressure Washer
on April 24, 2023
Posted by: elitegangsta
Unboxing the pressure washer was a bit concerning as all of the parts seemed to be thrown in the box and were not well secures. Many parts were just thrashing around which marked up the tank and some of the paint. The box itself was in flawless condition and the main unit was wrapped and secured pretty tight. It was the accessories such as the wand, hoses, and secondary handle that were just loose in the box. The handle was wrapped in foam padding, but it wasn't enough to eliminate some marks on the main unit itself. Everything appears factory sealed and tight, so I do not believe this was an abnormal experience, just poor packaging. With that said, everything worked fine and performed as expected and I wasn't bothered by this, otherwise I would have reached out to Greenworks or BestBuy, but just keep this in mind if you end up getting a unit in the same boat. I am NOT making this as a negative as this could have been a anomaly, as stated, everything works perfectly fine.
Setup was super simple, assembly instructions were very clear and most of it could be assembled without any additional tools. All in all, it took me maybe 10 minutes tops to assemble.
I plugged in and began initially using this with a foam cannon (separate part) to wash my cars. The 15 and 25 degree (green and yellow) work great for this process as well. Pressure was just enough to get off dirt but not touch enough to cause any paint issues. I stepped up to the 40 degree (white) to clean brake dust off rims, also did not cause any harm to the wheel's finish. It effortlessly made them look factory new. This alone sped up washing multiple cars and is worth the price of admission.
I then moved to spraying my concrete walkway. I had to step up to the "turbo" nozzle for this and had to keep the nozzle pretty close to the concrete to get all dirt and debris off. The concrete looked brand new afterwards and was many shades lighter. Due to the tight nature of the turbo nozzle, small back and forth lines had to be done, so this took some time, but got the job done. The pressure was more than enough to get the concrete clean.
Moving onto siding, i filled the soap tank with solution and used the soap attachment to spray the house. Waiting 15 min then using the green nozzle to clean resulted in mostly clean siding. I had to step up to the white to get the really dirty parts clean, but overall, was effortless and my white siding was white again. I had to use a step ladder to get to the second floor (standard 9' high ceilings) so about 15-20 feet high? but with the step ladder i was able to get to the very top.
Wrapping cords and hoses was simple. The power cable arms worked very well, though I wish the power adapter had something to secure it to the cables as it is left dangling and has to wrap around something to secure it. The pressure hose holder is great, the bungee attachment allows this to remain secure without falling. The pressure washer wand is the only thing left completely insecure which is frustrating, I'd like to see something better designed to secure this from falling off.
Storing is also easy and takes up little space with the upright position. This allows me to store in my garage very easily without taking up space.
All in all, with some minor design flaws this is a fantastic unit. Adding the ability to secure the wand and better secure the power cable would make this 5 stars. The pressure is great, noise level is decent and this just works. In my opinion, a must have multi-use tool to have around the house!

MartinLogan Motion XT B100
on March 12, 2023
Posted by: elitegangsta
I was ecstatic to have the opportunity to review the new Motion XT series speakers from MartinLogan. I am a long time MartinLogan fan as well as a technophile/cinephile/audiophile type person.
The equipment I used with these speakers are as follows:
Denon AVR-X4700H (using 8ohms impedance setting due to 4ohms being more of marketing gimmick on this receiver than a true, stable 4ohms power delivery - those wanting true 4ohms should look for a dedicated amp that can handle 4ohms properly, never use a receiver for this setting despite advertisements saying otherwise)
iPhone 14 Pro using Thunderbolt to USB to DragonFly DAC (for 96kHz 'lossless')
In full production use at my house, I have these paired with the rest of the MartinLogan Motion series and using these as my rear surround speakers. I'll start off by describing my experience with these in this setup, as I am sure a lot of you will be doing as well. I always like to match my surround speakers with equal quality to deliver an appropriate sound stage. Using anything less could result in improper balance. Despite not being overly used during a movie, these speakers carried the affects brilliantly. Anything that came from the rear was easily distinguished through the booming, and/or other surround effects coming from the other speakers. Nothing was lost. Sounds were exceptionally accurate and clear. I also have these mounted on the wall with a slight downward direction towards the viewer. I witness 0 vibration or distortion despite these being on a stand. The construction of these speakers are of the highest quality I have ever seen from any speaker manufacture. The sounds delivered is free of any distortion or vibration from the cabinet or speaker covers. The speaker covers are easily removable should you be able to tell they are impeding the sound, or, if you simply prefer the look of the exposed cones. The horn tweeter, while normally a show stopper for me as they tend to produce a harsher sound than I like, was excellent at producing both sharp, crisp highs but also added a softness to the majority of higher pitches to not feel overly sharp or offensive to the ears. It was very natural and pleasant. I think MartinLogan has knocked it out of the park with this specific feature. These speakers also have a rear woofer so keeping distance from the wall is important. With mine angled, I was able to get the suggested 24" from the wall with my left surround but was about 15" on the other. I did not find this to be a problem in my specific room, where sound typically does not reverberate much at all.
Moving to place these in a 2 channel configuration for music, as I am sure there are those out there looking to place these as standard bookshelf's for all use cases. Playing music through my receiver using AirPlay 2 (48kHz CD quality) was phenomenally clear and precise. I could hear details in the music down to fingerprints sliding on the fret of a guitar to the tiny back ground effects in more electronic based tunes, to the sharpness of horns and other percussion instruments in classical, ska, etc. Switching over to my DAC to get even higher quality audio was apparent by volume only. I could not tell a detailed difference between CD quality and the 96kHz "lossless" from Apple's digital master albums. I find this to be true with anything I've attempted to discern from "lossless" music, headphones, highly amped setups, etc. I simply do not hear it. Volume wise though, there is a touch more clarity and volume that comes from the higher bitrate at the same volume as the CD quality tracks, so that was noticeable here as well. While not being as large as floor standing speakers, the volume output, depth, clarity and overall experience rivals that of much, much larger speakers. In most rooms, these will do the listener right and would make any artist proud to have their products reproduced with these.
In conclusion, MartinLogan has done an exceptional job with these bookshelf speakers. At this price point, you will be hard pressed to find a better pair out there. You likely will be hard pressed to find a better set of bookshelf speakers period. These are a truly masterful line of speakers, and MartinLogan has brought their A game to the table. These are an absolute must have for any home theatre, or, bookshelf setup.
Thanks to MartinLogan for providing such a stellar experience. I will be raving about these for quite some time.

MartinLogan Motion XT C100
on March 11, 2023
Posted by: elitegangsta
I was absolutely ecstatic when I got the opportunity to review the new MartinLogan Motion XTs. I am a cinephile, audiophile, technophile type person, and have been a long time fan of MartinLogan's products.
I am borrowing some parts of this review from my other reviews of the rest of the Motion XT line. But it is relevant here and may help others who are reading this.
I'd like to first start off by outlining the equipment I used to test these speakers. I'd like to note, none of the equipment I own is what I'd consider to be "optimal" to get the absolute best performance out of these speakers in all situations. For my listening/theatre room, the equipment I used is more than ample to produce a stellar listening experience none the less. I simply want to also point out this is an area of extreme subjectivity and one that is argued over by experts (and otherwise) in the industry. What "sounds good" to one audiophile does not always sound "good" to another. This is even more disparaging between casual listeners and casual consumers:
Denon AVR-X4700H without a separate amp, single wired with bridge (125 watts RMS in 2 ch modes)
Epson Cinema 3200 4k Projector w/ grey 100" static screen
I'd like to also point out that the impedance on the C100s are 5ohms (lower the better) which essentially means, it requires more power to deliver optimal sound but the result is less distortion and better sound. Your standard speakers are typically 8ohms, so at 50% greater impedance, these are truly special/high end speakers. My Denon AVR-X4700H claims to be 4ohms capable, however, what this really means (for anyone else looking for a similar setup) is the power draw changes, which technically speaking will register a 4 ohms certification, but in reality, it's just making the receiver work harder, get hotter, and risk burning out the receiver. This receiver is NOT a true 4ohms amp and should be used in it's 8ohms configuration (which is how I operated it). Anyone wanting to learn more should do their own ample research on this topic. Optimal amp to get a true 4ohms at clean, stable power should be used to maximize these speakers. The C100 had no issue what so ever operating at the 8ohms delivered via my Denon. I never have to turn the volume up much over 50% for these to blow the roof off my basement, so for my purposes, additional amplification is not necessarily needed.
I'm going to limit this review to just home theatre/movies. I am not a fan of using center channels or rears when listening to music. Despite some albums not being in spatial audio, I prefer 2 channel audio for that type of content. I also imagine anyone using this center will be using it mainly for movies/TV and not audio. The center channel is also THE MOST IMPORTANT speaker in a home theatre setup. This is where most of the audio comes from, and everything else is just supporting audio or ambiance.
Setup of this thing is a little different that others. MartinLogan allows the owner to choose the orientation of the speaker, which is either "default right side up" or "upsidedown" which alters the direction of how the audio is thrown. They include the MartinLogan logo which is to be place in the proper orientation once the direction is chosen. I chose the default orientation with the logo at the bottom. They also include feet which are stuck to the bottom using 3M tape. The feet are not adjustable as they are on the Motion F100 floors and this is meant to be placed on an already level shelf, table, rack, etc..
Normally, on every home theatre setup I've ever done in the past 30 years, I ALWAYS boost the center channel db to + 4 or 5 over the rest of the speakers in the setup. These were no different to start. I chose a +5 as my typical and started sampling Alita Battle Angel. I immediately went back in and turned it down to +2, which is where I currently still have it. This is the first time I've ever gotten close to even on a center channel with the rest of the lineup. The clarity this center produces is outstanding. Vocal tracks are crisp, clear, and flawless. I am debating dropping it again down to +1. I tried this at 0 and felt it was still a little too muddled out for my taste. I really like hearing the vocal tracks over booms, and other ambient effects. The horn tweeter offers a range of both harshness (for necessary things, such as, well, horns, or sharper sounds like gun shots, knife swipes, or other "sharp" things. It also lends itself to offer a very warm and smoother sound for lesser more mid range sounds that still require a tweeter. It's pretty remarkable how dynamic this is with a horn based tweeter. Switching to Jurassic Park the experience was no different. All vocal tracks were stellar while also allowing for the large, boomy bass needed for things like the T-Rex chasing after the Jeep in that infamous scene, shine through loud and clear. This center is huge, it sits at around 25" left to right and 8" high. You need to ensure you have a shelf big enough to accommodate this, or if it sits on top, the TV or projector screen is mounted high enough so this does not cover the screen. I'd recommend, whenever possible, to NOT put a center in a cabinet enclosed, and rather sit it on top to give it enough room to breath and fire it's woofer from the back without impedance.
I am absolutely in love with this center channel (as well as the entire Motion XT line up). This is the BEST center channel I have ever listened to in year of being around custom theatre setups, and high end audio/theatre equipment. MartinLogan has knocked it out of the park with this center and at the asking price, it is a phenomenal bang for the buck if you can swing the cost.
Thank you MartinLogan for the opportunity and experience. I will be raving about this for a very, very long time. You've made a new super fan out of me, and I am so very grateful.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I started off listening to some of my favorite tracks via Apple Music over AirPlay 2, which I love the convenience of, and AirPlay 2 supports 24-bit 48kHz :CD Quality" stream when using "lossless" audio, and since this is likely a typical setup for folks, either via CD Player, or perhaps even a "streaming" box, I chose to start here. I played a variety of songs from Aerosmith, X-Ambassadors, De la Soul, Busta Rhymes, Slipknot, Garth Brooks, and one of my all time favorites, Metallica's black album (enter sand man, the unforgiven, etc) which when eyes closed, heavily focused on every details of the track, I could almost swear Larz and the gang were giving me a private show in a sound studio. I have almost 0 echo in my theatre room, so any vibration experience has always come from the cabinets of the speakers or something loose, such as a cover, or the base. MartinLogan has not only build a bomb shelter equivalent of a speaker cabinet, which is tight, expertly crafted, and my unit, glossy black, added an extra layer of "candy coating" that results in the impossibility of any added noise. MartinLogan also design the most amazing "F.A.S.T." feet for the F100s. Taking the feat out of the box was a luxurious experience all in itself. They are heavy, made of metal and rubber, and connected to the speaker bottoms with each. Once installed, a simple twist of the circular tops either raise or lower each side which results in effortless balancing. This is crucial to ensure all the hard work on these stellar cabinets don't go to waste by something like floor vibration due to unevenness. Outside of vibration, the clarity and "true to life" sound I heard was nothing short of life changing. Minor details such as fingerprints sliding up and down guitar strings, to the vibrations of the wooden drumsticks on taught drum skin, to the heart stopping, goosebump educing bass. These thing have RANGE and at a clarity I've never experienced before listening to speakers. As a kid who grew up with an architect as a father, who would often design theatre rooms that would rival sundance, and getting invited to watch movies and enjoy some of the most premium environments money can buy, these speakers still stand out. As someone who often avoids horn tweeters as they tend to over exaggerate the highs of most sounds, these are different. There was a "warmth" about these that was so soothing yet detailed and crisp enough to not feel degraded in any way. I am also someone who does not pretend they can hear "lossless" over "CD Quality" or even see "4k over 8k" from 15 feet back. I seriously doubt most who claim this, and in my group of audiophile/cinephile friends (whom we spend far too much time making the simplest tweaks to equipment just to see if we can tell a difference) cannot and never in blind test tell the difference. That is, until now... I had no shortage of eager friends jumping at the bit to come over and listen to these with me. We played tons of various tracks in both AirPlay 2 and then connected to my DAC to get a higher tier lossless. While I don't believe any more "detail" was necessarily heard by any of us, all 3 of us identified when the DAC/Lossless tracks were playing and when the AirPlay 2 CD quality was playing. (to also note, it is impossible NOT to tell the difference between a direct non lossless stream via something like Apple TV and the CD quality over AirPlay 2, this is starkly different and anything less than CD is easily identified as lossy and muddy). The sound was simply "louder" and "clearer" if that makes any sense. More details is coming through, and while audibly that "detail" couldn't be heard by any of us, the volume differences and faint added clarity made the 2 options apparent in a way I've never been able to identify, even with other high end speaker setups, ever before.
Turning to home theatre I sampled a number of my favorite flicks. I started with Alita Battle Angel for one reason. There is a scene where there are a number of mechanical arms assembling the robot. There is a ton of detail in this scene and most of which is lost on lesser systems. The MartinLogans reproduced this with a clarity and details I've never experienced in the dozens of times I've watched this scene. I could hear 30 or so of the little arms all working together. It was actually a level of creepiness to it as well. Switching to Jurassic Park, the roars of the T-Rex as he chased the jeep in that infamous scene placed me in the jeep along with the gang. The bass response that comes out of these do not even require a sub. It is marvelous how much sound is produced by a singular speaker... wrapping up with the demo of all demos, Mad Max fury road. This is a masterpiece of cinema demo as everything in this film is reference grade material. The detail in the sand storms, wind, exhaust from the cars, metal chains, all while allowing the vocal tracks to shine through without fail. This film was almost like watching it for the first time, which is another nothing short of a miracle experience given how many times I've seen this movie, demoed it on new equipment and would make the argument that watching it in the theatre the first time, was a total waste as nothing the theatres have outshine these Motion XT F100s in a proper environment.
I know at least 2 of my 3 friends are considering buying these after our experimentation and demo sessions. I also cannot get the point across enough, about how much of a bang for the buck these are. I understand to a lot of people that $2000+ each of a lot of money, and I agree. But if you look at the market, understand what is out there at this price point and producing what these produce, you won't find it, At least I haven't. Using a mediocre receiver, in a non sound isolated room, and experiencing audio nirvana in a literal, life changing way to someone who has seen and heard it all, in hundreds of different environments, and is "never happy" with anything, regardless of how much money was spent (part of the reason I don't go overboard) MartinLogan has done something there I think will shock the industry. Anyone who even remotely cares about audio/theatre and has the funds to swing these, absolutely needs to give these a try. They will blow you away, change your life, or at the least, show you something you've never seen or heard before with this type of a setup.
Thank you MartinLogan for the opportunity and experience. I will be raving about these for a very, very long time. You've made a new super fan out of me, and I am so very grateful.

HP Smart Tank 5101 All-In-One Supertank
on February 4, 2023
Posted by: elitegangsta
The HP Smart Tank 5101 Wireless All-In-One Supertank is your typical Inkjet Printer with a slight twist; the "Supertank" refillable reservoirs.
The initial hardware portion of the setup process introduces you to the most unique feature of this printer: the fillable "smartank". This printer features separate bottles of ink, which you flip upside-down and insert into the top "click in" module of each corresponding tank. Do not worry when flipping the ink upside-down as there is a rubber grommet type device that ensures no ink will spill out. The included black in bottle uses about 75% or so of the bottle to fill the black tank. The other colors use 100% of the bottle. In most cases, black ink is used more than color, so while I understand this initial reasoning I wish they would simply have included all of the ink bottles to be the same size. I'm sure the researchers at HP have done their homework and my desire for this is not justifiable enough.
Once the ink is all ready to go and all of the packaging bits are removed, insert your paper and run some "alignment sheets". I found the auto align process to have worked perfectly without the need for any manual adjustments.
I then proceeded to download the HP Smart app onto my iPhone for initial setup. This process was easy. I then proceeded to setup the printer on both my Windows and macOS devices. I downloaded the same app on both OSs. Starting with macOS. Here I ran into some initial issues as the HP Smart app instructed me at the end of the setup to "install the drivers" which it provided perfect instructions to do. However, I am running the latest macOS Ventura, and there are no official drivers for Ventura at the time of setting this up. I thought this was strange. I then setup the printer on my Windows device which went start to finish perfectly fine. I then was shown a "print anywhere" guide from the app, which allows me to printer via the HP cloud, from anywhere via any device signed into the proper HP accounts from the HP smart app. Setting this up then allowed me Venture macOS device to print to the printer without issue.
Next I updated the firmware on the printer to the latest. After this completed, I noticed over some time, my macOS Ventura machine picked up on the printer via Bonjour, and was natively recognized.
Everything about this printer is about what you'd expect. There is little to no reason to get much into the other details in this review, however, I will say that printing from any device using the HP smart app is simple and results in a perfectly printed page, color, black and white, borderless, etc. Using AirPrint via an iOS device also works perfectly, and as expected. Scanning via the HP Smart app is also super simple on any device. I found the HP Print Anywhere technology to be especially welcome for situations where an Android, or even a guest device may be present. It's easy to print from literally anywhere you have access to the internet and this app to sign into.
All in all, this is a great inkjet printer with a lot of modern conveniences. My only real gripe was the somewhat "broken" setup process on macOS Ventura initially, though this was mostly and easy work around to then ultimately getting properly fixed. Time will tell if this new ink tank technology offers any real value to the inkjet type printers, which are traditionally, a total waste of money, as ink costs are so high in comparison to the printers, and the ink usage is so heavy that replacements tend to happen more often that it financially makes sense. If HP's promise of "2 years" is true, this printer would be an excellent value.

Pixel Watch is Here!
on November 13, 2022
Posted by: elitegangsta
I’ve been eagerly awaiting a Google Pixel Watch ever since smart watches entered into the technology space. When I got the opportunity to review this product, I immediately jumped at the chance.
Google was kind enough to have supplied me with the LTE model for this review. I am using the Google Pixel Watch with my Google Pixel 7 smartphone.
Setup
Could be easier. Remove the watch from the box, power on by pressing the power button on the side of the watch face. There is a prompt that is displayed on the phone which directs you to the Play Store where you can download the “watch” companion app.
You simply follow the prompts on both the watch and phone as various steps require you to interact with one or the other. You need to setup at least an initial Google account you wish to use, but fear not, you can add as many second or third accounts as you need after the initial setup. In my case, I have both a consumer Google account as well as a Google Workspace account, so this was a very important feature for me to succeed using the Google Pixel Watch.
If you wish to add your smartwatch to a compatible LTE/mobile plan, there is a section to allow you to do this as well. In my case, my provider charges $10 to add a smartwatch. Certain Google Fi plans allow you to do this at no additional cost. Something to consider when deciding if you wish to get the LTE model or not. This can also be done at a later time.
Once the initial setup was complete, there was an update available which I immediately downloaded. The watch also continued to add all native phone apps that also had watch versions (such as Google Maps, Google Keep, etc.)
The Google Pixel Watch uses Fitbit instead of Google Fit for health tracking. There is a 6 month free trial for Fitbit Premium should you wish to try that out or need the additional features. For my use case, I do not need the Premium subscription at this time, so I opted out of that.
Overall, I found the setup process to be very clear and easy to follow. I was up and running within about 10 minutes without running into any issues.
Personalization
Google really took a lot of time in this department. The Pixel Watch feels like it has an option for most people’s preferences. There are numerous bands you can choose from, plenty of watch face customization options, and a fair amount of color choices for the watch itself.
Google’s watch band connection system is unique yet very effective. It allows for a very secure connection while maintaining a very clean and simple look. It takes a time or two to really get good at connecting back with the watch face. I found removal to be super easy and I was able to get that first try.
In the box, Google included a shorter band for the silicon sport band that shipped with my watch. I have very small wrists, so this shorter band fits me much better. I am looking forward to purchasing more watch band options from Google in the very near future!
Changing watch faces couldn’t be easier from the watch app. There is a dedicated section where you can select the templated style, then edit it further from there. There are numerous complications, colors, and styles. It actually felt overwhelming at the beginning with all of the options to choose from, I didn’t know what to choose first. I decided against a feature rich face, with smaller time, date, heart beats per minute, temperature outside and number of steps for the day.If you cannot find a watch face you like, I am not sure watches are for you!
You can also customize the “tiles” you want when swiping left on the watch face. These tiles can be anything from fitness tracking, calendar events, timers, daily heart rate, Google Maps, and weather forecasts.
You can set the orientation of how the watch fits on your wrist, for example: if the watch is on the left or right wrist, or if the crown is facing towards or away from your hand.
There is an always on display mode you can set as well. I chose to leave mine set to the default “off” to save battery life. I found the watch to be very quick with the screen available once I lifted this up to view. This is an everytime occurrence so I don’t see the need to have this always on in my case.
Notifications
A huge benefit of having a smart watch is the ability to get notifications from your smartphone, without the need to take your smartphone out of your pocket or off the desk (or even with you at all should you be using LTE).
One of the most useful for me is both email and message notifications. You can respond to either directly on the watch. I found this task to be a bit cumbersome and confusing at first, as you have to first “open on the watch” and then reply. It would be nice if there were less steps involved and a simple reply could be done right from the initial notification.
I also have a lot of Google smart home devices such as cameras, doorbells, lights, etc.. and I find receiving alerts from any of them to be very convenient on the watch.
Overall the notification experience is good, though some of what I consider to be “quick actions” could use some refinement for sure.
To anyone who uses MFA applications and were hoping for direct “approve” from the watch. You’ll continue to be disappointed. I could not approve notifications on my watch using Microsoft Authenticator or DUO mobile. Both required me to open on the phone and approve there. Even with smart lock enabled. I am hoping this improves to be a feature over time. In its current state, this is a massive disappointment for me.
Fitbit Experience
Google has done a good job iterating its recently acquired Fitbit software into the Google Pixel Watch. This is a major highlighted feature of the watch. You get detailed workout tracking like real-time heart rate zones, configurable stats, goals and more.
When starting a workout, you must select the type of workout you’re doing before you start. I wish there was an “autodetection” feature where it would notice you’re doing something that appears to be a workout, and ping you about it so you don’t forget this step. This would be especially helpful for things like spontaneous walks. I do however understand the margin of error here and why it was likely omitted.
I don’t have much to compare the stats to as this is my first Fitbit experience, but I found the step counts to be on par with other smart watches i’ve worn in the past. I’ve read about occurrence concerns here within the Fitbit app in terms of calories burned, but I have nothing to conclude or compare with here based on my own experience. It seems to be accurate and sufficient from what I’ve seen.
Fitbit will also cheer you on when you meet certain goals, or attempt to coach you / motivate you when you’re falling behind on those goals. I mostly found this to be helpful, but on “lazy days” I would sometimes find it annoying too. Overall, I think it’s necessary to help keep me moving, especially during the work day when I need reminders to take a break and walk around!
Overall, I am enjoying the Fitbit experience on my Google Pixel Watch.
Google Assistant
In my opinion, there is no better digital assistant than Google’s assistant. It is great to have this directly baked into the Google Pixel Watch! The watch will listen and respond to requests such as turning off lights, setting a timer, answering a question, or even providing map directions.
Google Maps
I found the maps integration to be specifically useful. You can trigger directions either right from the watch, or, from the maps app on the phone, which will then sync up to the watch and provide turn based directions right from your wrist. This is especially useful when walking around an area outside of your car.
Camera Controls
What is a Pixel device without mentioning the camera features? On the watch, you can control the camera from your smartphone directly on the watch. This is great for group photos or taking full body selfies when no one else is around.
Battery Life / Charging
I find the battery life on the Google Pixel watch to be great. I’ve had no issues getting a full day of use from it. I do not sleep with the watch, and at the end of the day, I have nearly 50% or more left. Placing it on the charger for about 15 min each morning charges it back to 100% and I'm ready for the next day. I appreciate how quickly this watch charges when needed. This makes it easy to charge while taking a shower if you do choose to sleep with it on.
Conclusion
Google mostly knocked it out of the park with this first Pixel Watch version. It checks most of the boxes it needs to and it is a great first party alternative to others out there. This sets the stage for WearOS watches and I am excited to see how this generation continues to improve and what is in store for the next generation of Google Pixel watches.
I would recommend this to a friend!

One of the Greatest Mac Mice Around Gets Better
on October 9, 2022
Posted by: elitegangsta
Pros:
* Great ergonomic feel
* Excellent button layout
* Matches Apple hardware Space Grey
* 3 Bluetooth profiles for pairing to multiple devices
* Works on any platform (Windows, MacOS, ChromeOS, Android, iOS, iPadOS)
* Uses the new Options + software
* 2 scrolling modes, one for more precision (clicks when you scroll) and a smoother constant scroll
* pre-defined button settings for mac (this is why it's a "mac edition") but these can also be changed
* Buttons be edited to
* USB C to charge
* USB A dongle cuts down on the wireless lag you get from Bluetooth and instead, uses proprietary and less interference 2.4ghz
* Quiet mouse clicks
* Nice high 8000 DPI sensor for precision tracking
Cons:
* Bluetooth is laggy. While this isn't fault of the logi mouse specifically, it is a flaw in the technology used. Thankfully, they supply a 2.4ghz dongle, which, should be used whenever possible.
* "Mac Edition" is simply marketing. Sure this has "presets for mac" but these could be set, and changed, so this is really just more "out of the box" configured. Seems like a very, very long stretch to have justified making this some secondary edition compared to the primary edition.
* No dongle storage on the mouse itself. It would be nice to have added this so when travelling, you have a place to keep the dongle so it doesn't get lost.
* This mouse is made exclusively for right hand use only. If you are left handed, you either have to use this in your right hand, or, chose another option entirely.
Bottom Line:
Logitech has consistently produced a top tier wireless mouse with the MX series. This new MX3s keeps refining a great all around mouse. The S has added the excellent Option+ software, an even better high DPI sensor (great for 5k displays) and stellar battery life. This is hands down one of the best mouse options for mac and also a top contender in the PC space. Content professionals (who are likely a target audience for Macs anyway) will specifically enjoy all the customization features, higher precision, and comfortable ergonomics.
All in all, this mouse should be on anyone's consideration when shopping for a wireless mouse for use on their mac, or, multi-device setups.

Excellent Minimalist Gaming Keyboard
on October 8, 2022
Posted by: elitegangsta
Pros:
* Thin and modern design
* Individual RGB keys
* Quiet key stroke sound
* Very clean layout
* Works in USB or wireless modes
* Synapse software has many predefined color schemes for games
* Synapse software is very easy to use to control
* Uses USB-C connectors
* Beautiful exposed key design
* Volume rocker in the top right corner (or can be programmed to do other things)
* Works in both Bluetooth and 2.4 Ghz mode
* 2.4ghz mode uses lightspeed for nearly lag free connection
* Keys are very responsive and accurate
* Keys are shallow and operate as a single press by design, this is a love it or hate it feature. I happen to love it.
* 3 profile modes for pairing to different devices
* Function keys have limited built in options. F9, F10, F11, F12 offer alternative functions. Otherwise things need to be bound to macros. Many may find this a pro, others will certainly find this a negative.
Cons:
* Keys are hard to see in moderate room lighting when LED lights are powered off
* Keys are shallow and operate as a single press by design, this is a love it or hate it feature. I happen to love it.
* Function keys have limited built in options. F9, F10, F11, F12 offer alternative functions. Otherwise things need to be bound to macros. Many may find this a pro, others will certainly find this a negative.
Bottom Line:
This is an outstanding minimalist gaming keyboard. If you want clean, simple, core operation, with a highly responsive key press, outstanding RGB illumination and a ton of configuration options, this is one of the best keyboards around. It is very well built and can be used right out of the box with no configuration at all, and the experience is still great.

These Apple-designed cases are made from premium leather for a luxurious feel. Because they're precision crafted for iPhone 6, the case fits snugly and your phone still feels incredibly slim even with the case on. The soft microfiber lining on the inside helps protect your iPhone. And on the outside, you see color that's more than surface deep, thanks to a dye that's infused into the leather. Choose from five complementary colors.(This case is made from natural aniline leather. Its appearance will change as you use it.)

This is genuine leather
October 3, 2014
Just wanted to add a correction to this post. This case is made of genuine leather. It DOES feel like it is on the plastic side. It is made from a high quality premium leather and is stretched rather tight. Any genuine leather stretched this tight will give the feel of a plastic, "pleathery" texture, but this is in fact genuine leather product.
Faux leather will be absolutely flawless around the edges and appear very smooth. Real leather will be slightly more grainy and have more of a "folded" look as this case does. You can also just simply smell the case, unlike faux leather, you cannot mistake the smell of real leather. This case also smells of real leather.
Last but not least, it also states in the description that it is made of premium genuine leather, if not true, Apple would already have a nice lawsuit on their hands since this case has been selling extremely well.

This is not the place to ask this type of question. You can however just order the TV online and enter the country region info and "pickup in store" at that location. Not too difficult.

why my tv is dark after 5 o 10 minutes ??

It could be that the adjustable darkness is set to "enabled". Try going through the menu settings and look for any setting that says "dynamic dark" or "automatically adjust brightness" and this may solve your issue. I recommend turning off all "enhancements" for all these do is cause issues and lessen the true picture quality of the set.

If those are not the answer, you may have something wrong with the backlighting and you should have it looked at by a professional.

Hope this helps.

Wii U

How likely is that i can get a Wii U on launch date even if i didn't pre-order it?

I live in Mexico right now, but i usually go to Tucson, AZ, like twice every 5 months when i want to buy some electronic devices.
This time i'd like to buy a Wii U when it comes out on November 18th, but i didn't have the opportunity to pre-order it because i live in Mexico as i said. I alway choose Best Buy when it comes to electronics, so i'd love to buy the Wii U with you guys.

I was thinking in getting the Deluxe Bundle because i really love that glossy black since the Wii, that i didn't have it either because i already had the white one, the 32GB extra HDD and the other stuff is just extra for me, i only want it for the color. Even if i can't get the black one deluxe box because it's already sold out, i was wondering if you guys do a midnight launch for the Wii U, is there any chance that i can get the 8GB white one at least?

I just want the system on the launch date, if i can't get the black one, i'll have to settle with the white one for now. It's ok for me if i have to camp or something, as i've already done that when the Wii came out, so that is not an issue.

What do you think guys, how likely is that i can get the Wii U on launch date even if i didn't pre-order it? White will have to do if the black ones are already sold out.

Thanks!

Can I play the AVI videos on my computer through Apple TV on only MP4s through itunes?

once jailbroken, you can play ANYTHING.

Out of the box, its limited to only videos available on itunes. I highly suggest you google how to jailbreak it, extremely simple to do and will expand this to be the most universal media center around. I have one of these on ALL my TVs, all jailbroken and they play ALL my media off my windows 2008 r2 server flawlessly using the XBMC app.
