Was wanting to move up from the Air and was looking at different tablets and wanted a bit more power and to use better accessories. Really wasn't sure we would want a 12" though. Ran across this on sale at a competitor then checked here at Best Buy and it was a better sale yet. The sale and the specs made the decision for us and we went for the Pro 9. Saved $100 plus used up some Reward bucks, came out less than the cost of the Air 2 16GB!!!!!!
Tablet is nice and light, a lot faster than the Air, thinner than the Air. Display is a little nicer than any of the other iPads. Touch seems more accurate. Loading and transferring was very easy; backed Air to cloud then restored to the Pro. Done. Even without the new pen, writing is very easy and accurate with finger or plain stylus.
It's "NOT" a laptop killer. But it is a very, very nice tablet that will fill most normal needs and do some actual work, too and still have room and power to spare. Pictures taken with this are very nice and the Face Time is better too. We got this to replace the wife's Air and that passed to me, after trying this out, now I want one for my desk! And I'm a PC man at heart!

I had bought previous model of this laptop last summer and was happy with most everything except drivers and that was easily taken care of. Came time to replace my desktop, decided to check this model out and pleased that I did. All the specs the old one plus a bit more. Backlit keyboard, loads of ram, HD+ display. And it was on sale at the right time, too. Brought it home, it fired right up and shortly was up and running without errors of any type. The only con I see, as with the other model, the hard drive and that's not a bad thing but a SSD would be a lot better. When I got ready to do the "clean install" of Windows 10, I just swapped out the hard drive for a 240 GB SSD then did the "clean install" with absolutely no problems. What drivers that didn't automatically download and install were at HP on line. Wireless works great as does the Bluetooth. Display is outstanding. Everything works as it should. One thing I should mention, I sa w on another review that the hard drive was a Western Digital, the one that was mine was a Seagate. That person may have been mistaken, or HP is using what's available to build these machines.
This computer looks like a MacBook Pro on steroids! Easier to take apart and work on though. And for about half the money, get almost twice the machine as a MBP. Even if a person were looking at a MBP, they should stop and give this thing a good look.
Windows 10 seems to run just fine on here. Easy to setup, dial in and use.
I would and have recommended this machine to friends
This computer looks like a MacBook Pro on steroids! Easier to take apart and work on though. And for about half the money, get almost twice the machine as a MBP. Even if a person were looking at a MBP, they should stop and give this thing a good look.

Thought the price on this was a bit steep when first looking at it, but after reading up, saw where the money was going: lens shift, shorter throw distances, quality build, available inputs, all the tools for adjusting just about anything with an easy to follow menu.
Bought this to replace a smaller unit that was doing OK but we wanted more, and sure got it. The picture on screen is as good as my plasma HD but get a bonus of no glare and reflections. Have to remember, this thing plays as good as whatever get fed to it. SD and very conmpressed video files look OK spread out on a bigger screen, feed this projector HD and get ready for a great ride. And, 3D is thrown in the mix too, comes with 2 pair of glasses. Never was much interested in 3D until we got this projector. Bought a 3D disk player a couple weeks later ang gave it a try. Now, I'm impressed and like it.
bigger and heavier unit so if doing a ceiling mount, make sure to get a quality unit and all that or you'll see every vibration that comes thru the house, and always be adjusting. We couldn't use a ceiling mount, no studs where we needed to put it so have it on a stand, works great.
Oh, the room doesn't need to be dark to watch. It's best when it's darker but watchable during the day or lamps on at night.

Wanted a projector not too expensive just to play with and see if I wanted to get into projection TV. this one seemed to fit the bill and got a good sale price on top of that. Didn't expect a whole lot and was surprised with just how many resolutions/formats the thing would play being it is a 4:30 machine. Everything I throw at it, it plays in it's native form: 4:3, 16:9, 16:35, etc. Didn't expect much from the speaker and didn't get much, but have home theater sound system. Shows up to and including 1080p and does it nicely. this is not a top of the line home theater projector, but none the less for the budget minded and someone who just wants to play around a bit with movies on the wall or screen it does very well. As a presentation device, would be one of the best. with the HDMI input playing movies from my BD player, such a pleasant surprise! Looks pretty darn good.

Got this on a great sale, was looking at two others and this one beat the others out on specs and price. $299 for $450 monitor! Brought it home, setup was fast and easy, directions a bit confusing though, but not really needed all that much. Every single cable that could be needed was included with the monitor, every single one! Not so with the others I was looking at. Hookup was easy and when I turned the monitor on first, then the PC, things worked the way they should right then, no messing around looking for this or that or any changes or software needed with Windows 8.1. That was that. Great picture, nice acting touchscreen. The trick was, I remembered doing my research before going to get the monitor and remembered comments about cables not completely attached so when I did my setup, I checked and made sure all cables were completely inserted, didn't have the first problem. A little hint, turn the monitor on before turning the PC on when starting up. This way, Windows "sees" the monitor and loads the software needed.
I'm pleased as can be with the monitor and the price.
Speakers aren't anything to brag about, but they're in a flat screen monitor, can't expect a lot from them. Most who are into better sound from the PC will ad external speakers.

Lot of value for money

All I wanted was a nice computer at the desk for going on-line for news, do research, email, some light to medium downloading. This thing does that very well. I'm not a gamer, so can't make any judgment either way there. Plays standard and high def movies just fine from about any video file I've tried, same with music.
Keyboard has a very nice, smooth feel and action, touchpad is nice and smooth but lacks a scrolling feature. Touch screen is a bit better than some I've tried and works well. For me, it's more a toy until I get more use to it. Setup went fast and easy, then updated quickly. Overall, I'm pleased with the unit. Especially like that I can, and did, make recovery disks for it, some computers don't give that option anymore. Plenty of hard drive space, more than enough for most people. Nice operating system. What's not to like about this little computer.

A little ad-on to my original comments. We bought a Mac Mini last week and decided to try the Acer monitor on that, it works perfectly from the speakers, the great video, to the USB 3 hub. Of course Mac doesn't have native touch screen on the Macs so there's nothing there unless find drivers, some monitor manufacturers have them, most don't. So, so thrilled with it working on the Mac Mini and my wife loves it, I went to Best Buy today and bought another one to put back on my Windows 8 PC. So nice to open a box and everything there to install; nearly every cable that could be needed except a DVI. and the cables are good quality, don't be misled by some of the comments on here about the cables being bad. If I had a third desktop that needed a monitor, I'd be heading back to Best Buy or on line to get another of these bad boys! 110% satisfied!

To JohnZ, I just replaced the hard drive with the SSD. Didn't more than glance at seeing where the second hard drive bay would be. I rarely have need, at the desk, for a huge drive, so it wasn't an issue to me. If I needed to expand, probably would order the unit to replace the optic drive, add a SSD to that and slide it in.

can you hook up the satellite to it
The easy answer is, if you can hook it to a TV and use it, you can hook it to this projector and it'll work just fine. Think of it as a TV with a detached screen. Yes, it will work with your satellite receiver.

How loud are the speakers, or do you need an auxillary amp?
The speaker is junk for anything except desktop presentation, We used ours for home theater, ran sound thru a receiver/amp

Is 3500 ceiling mounted, and if so, is there a bracket that comes with it?

Can be mounted on the ceiling or set on a stand. No, a ceiling mount is not encluded. Remember, this is big and heavier so don't skimp and go for the bargain ceiling mounts and it's best if can mount right to studs

Is this monitor Mac compatible?
The specification lists state that the monitor is Windows compatible, but say nothing about Apple products; could the monitor synch with a macbook, ipad, etc?
Yes, the monitor works perfectly with my Mac Mini with video, speakers and the USB 3, but there is no touch screen drivers in Mac or Acer for this monitor. Mac Mini and iMac do not support touch screen. other than that we are very pleased and saved a load of bucks going this way.
