It's 1967 All Over Again!

If you could have only one Buckinghams CD in your collection to bring back the memories from hearing them the first time around, this would be the one. Opening with an intro from the legendary Chicago DJ, Dick Biondi, the singing of Carl Giammarese and Nick Fortuna take you right back to the arenas of your youth and buying their original single 45s in the 60s at the corner record store. The horn sound they made famous sounds great live. Carl's strong vocals are best on "I Knew You When," and all the hits sound better with this band playing along with the vocals. Nick does a great job on "Expressway to Your Heart" while Carl plays bass on "Tighten Up." Includes all the hits,"Kind of a Drag," "Hey Baby, They're Playing Our Song," "Don't You Care," "Susan," (where the audience sings along to "I love you, yes I do, I do") and "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy." They did a great job on XM Radio live performance recently, so I bought this CD--if you can't get to their live concerts, this CD will do nicely.
What's great about it: Live Album with high energy audience reaction
What's not so great: Needs to be a double album; sorry it's only 14 songs

New music stays true to 60s sound

Having owned 3 Buckinghams albums (vinyl) from the 60s, I was surprised to find out they're still touring, and have been for 25 years now. Recently vacationing in Florida, had another surprise to find out they still looked great and sounded better. Bought "Reaching Back" after the show and have played it 4 times now, and each time, hear something different, pleasantly. Former lead guitarist Carl Giammarese wrote and sings lead on 8 new songs including "No Way to Know," "We Were Living a Dream," and the poignant "The Autumn of My Life." Plus, all the 60s hits are included. Went to Best Buy to look for reissue CDs of the old albums and found a live album, "Standing Room Only" and got that instead. They look better than the Stones, sound better than any of the guys on the recent PBS 60s music special, and give you hope that you really can go back again. Great CD to add to the collection.
What's great about it: Fresh new music from group performing for 40 years
What's not so great: Old hits done live in concert sound better than studio
I would recommend this to a friend!
