Unlike so many of today's new rock bands who try to emulate a certain few other bands, the Nigel Dupree Band blazes their own trail, expertly combining elements of both modern and classic rock, the result being sort of an "'80s rock for the new millennium" sound. As such, this album is both a little soft and a little hard, but all stick-in-your-head. A very well-rounded album, it has something for every rock fan.
Also check out their first album, Attraction, or catch them live on their tour in support of Up To No Good. Equally good live as they are in the studio, they are truly the future of rock n' roll.
First, just to be clear, "Best in Show" is NOT a "Best Of" or compilation album, as some have mistakenly assumed. This is NEW material. That being said...
This album is pure Jackyl. It's loud, hard, naughty, greasy, gritty, irreverent, and catchy with a little twang and a lot of groove. It's everything rock and roll should be, and it goes a long way toward capturing the in-your-face essence of Jackyl's live performances (if you've ever seen them play live, then you know what I mean), which is no mean feat for a studio recording. The bonus DVD contains 3 music videos and some amusing interview footage about the history of the band.
Most importantly, this album is just plain FUN to listen to, as are all of their albums, which, along with their being the hardest working band in rock and roll, is why you can expect them to follow up their first 20 years with another 20 or more, because after hearing "Best in Show," you'll realize that Jackyl has only just gotten started.
