The Game Is Afoot!!

WOW. this is easily one of the best Case Closed movies of the lot of them. perhaps i'm a bit biased because i'm also a big Holmes fan, but this adventure really stood out from the rest of them. they actually stayed really true to the Holmes universe and explained it all with the fact that the novelist who wrote the game's story (Jimmy/Conan's father) was a die-hard Holmes fan. there are all kinds of great characters in here such as Moriarty, Col Moran, and even Holmes's love Irene Adler! they also got a lot of the fact right when it came to the real-life investigations of the Jack the Ripper case. it appears extensive research was done in the making of this movie and it all blends together between Conan working the Jack the Ripper case inside the virtual reality game, and his father working a related murder case in the real world.
my only complaint is that there was very little Rachel/Jimmy drama. other than Rachel being inspired by Jimmy's favorite Holmes quote from The Final Problem inspiring her to save Conan's life, and her noticing that Conan sits like Jimmy when thinking hard (the latter is easily explained away nearly instantly when it's revealed they "both" sit that way because it's the way Holmes sat when doing the same.)
Either way, i highly recommend this movie if you are a fan of the series, and ESPECIALLY if you are also a fan of the great Sherlock Holmes!
What's great about it: Great for fans of the series, even better for fans of both Detective Conan AND Sherlock Holmes!
What's not so great: no extras except for trailers for other Funi shows. however that's not really a surprise when it comes to anime DVDs.

GREAT SHOW!!

This was one of my favorite cartoon shows as a kid, and as an adult it's even funnier! so many celebrity references, breaking the 4th wall, and 90's topical humor!
season 2 was easily the best, so many good episodes are on here including Dexter's Date (featuring a hilarious parody to "Hello Dolly") and The Island of Dr. Mystico (featuring the voice of Tim Currey as Dr. Mystico), and those are just two that i can think of off the top of my head! there are a lot more hilarious episodes in season 2!
What's great about it: absolutely hilarious, all the best episodes from the show were in season 2!
What's not so great: again, i only wish they had released all 24 episodes together rather than splitting it up.

In Season 2 of the superhero saga, the nascent heroes learn more about their similarly superpowered families and ancestors. Indestructible cheerleader Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere) and her family are forced to go into hiding in California in order to escape the clutches of the Company, an organization that tracks and captures superheroes. While her father, Noah (Jack Coleman), a former employee of the Company, insists she not do anything to attract attention, Claire finds herself attracted to a fellow student (Nicholas D'Agosto) with a superpowered secret of his own. After barely managing to avert a nuclear explosion in Season 1's finale, Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) is presumed dead by his grieving family, only to awaken in Ireland with no idea who he is or how he got there. Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) accidentally time travels to 17th-century feudal Japan, where he encounters his childhood hero, the legendary swordsman Takezo Kensei. But Hiro's joy is short-lived: He discovers that not only is Kensei a white foreigner (David Anders) living in Japan, but he's also a drunken coward who needs Hiro's help in order to achieve his destiny. Hiro eventually returns to the present and learns his father (George Takei) has been killed, the first in a series of murders of superheroes who had been active a generation ago. As the murders continue, it becomes clear that this killing spree is an act of revenge connected to a deadly virus that could spell disaster for humanity. In addition to this threat, the heroes must also deal with the return of superpowered serial killer Sylar (Zachary Quinto) and the arrival of a new villain (Kristen Bell), a mentally unstable agent of the Company with the ability to control lightning and electricity.

Great show, not the best season

OK, I absolutely LOVE Heroes, so i am still buying this season, and would still recommend it to anyone else. my only problem is that with the writers strike the show really struggled when it came back. the writing wasn't as fresh, the stories sort of struggled, and as a whole it just didn't draw you in nearly as well as the frist season did. still, though it was entertaining and a joy to watch. i think season 2 was more just a victim of circumstance and bad timing. you can look at just about any show that came back from the strike, and they all sort of struggled. it was tough for the writers to really get back into the flow of the show right away, and with the NBC execs and the producers pushing them to crank out episodes so they can be back in the game right away, it caused a bit of a slump.
i'm a little curious as to how there are so many episodes on these discs, when the season 2 was pretty short. are they going to include the NBC.com Webisodes or some of the original Villians shorts?
All-in-all, you can complain all you want about how season 2 wasn't that good, but if you enjoy the show as a whole and want to get caught up before season 3 kicks in, i highly suggest picking this up. also Kristen Bell is in season 2, and boy is she fun to watch!
What's great about it: Awesome show, Kristen Bell is a hottie!
What's not so great: The story sort of struggled in the 2nd season

solid release from Family Guy
on August 12, 2008

My only gripe with the Family Guy DVDs is how fox has realized that no matter what they do with it, if it's Family Guy it's going to sell, so the volumes consistantly get thinner and thinner with less episodes in each release, where currently they release it half a season at a time. volume 5 was only 2 discs of episodes and the 3rd was just bonus features. i like plenty of bonus features but c'mon now, Fox.
it's ok though. it's entertaining enough to watch over and over again, so i'll still love it. the episodes on this volume are very funny as well. i feel it's a stronger set of episodes than some of the previous releases. much more re-watchability.
if you liek family guy at all, you should love volume 6!
What's great about it: Verry funny episodes.
What's not so great: Family Guy releases consistantly get thinner and thinner

Ahhh, another blast from the past finally out on DVD!
plenty of humor that will crack up young and old alike. In fact, i think i love this show even more now that i'm an adult and able to pick up on the subtle humor as well as the zaney slapstick!
What's great about it: VERY funny! relive your childhood 80's kids!
What's not so great: none!

Favorite animated series of all time!

i used to love this show as a kid for the pratfalls and sillyness, but as a watch it as an adult now, it's only gotten MORE hilarious!
running gags, celebrity jokes from the 90's, clever puns, and of course over-the-top sillyness combine with the superhero cartoon genre to create one of the funniest shows you have ever seen, weather you're a child or an adult.
sadly this show was overshadowed by the other more popular Steven Speilberg cartoons such as Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures, and Pinky and the Brain and it only lasted two seasons, but now you can own the entire first season on DVD! :D
What's great about it: HILARIOUS!
What's not so great: i was really hoping they'd throw all 24 episodes in the series in one package rather than go by seasons 1 & 2

Awesome series for comic fans!

this was an excellent series that i remember watching every week when i was younger. seeing it now, and fully understanding everything, it's even better!
Based off the classic Top Cow comc books, this series is a must for any fan of the comics. it follows Officer Sarah Pezini after coming into contact with the fabled Witchblade, a bracelet that grants incredible power to it's bearer. sought after as a weapon for ulitimate power, she is hunted by those who would use it for evil.
Basically anyone who likes Charmed, Buffy, Firefly, Birds of Prey, or any other comic book style sci-fi drama should really enjoy this show.
i only wish the series hadn't been cut so short!
What's great about it: Great show! well written, and the acting/directing is good
What's not so great: ended too soon!

Great Album!

G. Love and Special Sauce have a great funky sound that is very unique to them. they take hip-hop and break it down to its funk elements, then throw in a little blues and jazz, to create a sound that's exciting and funky enough to get you groovin', yet still very chilled out and mellow.
If you like Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, or any of those sort of groovy acoustic sounds, or even an old-school funk throwback sound, you will enjoy this album. this is by far thier most diverse albums as far as sounds and styles run, and it's one of my favorite albums of theirs.
What's great about it: mellow, funky sounds!
What's not so great: none!

do you sell a clothe to remove scratches on dvds.

as far as the simple, 90's style skip fix kits, i doubt you will find them much anymore. there is so much on today's discs that a simple buffer solution will not be effective. your best bet is the Skip Doctor kit which Best Buy does sell in store and online. it is highly effective at repairing scratches on just about all discs. DVDs, CDs, and even video games! i wouldn't try it on Blu-ray though, i'm not sure how the cleaning compound would effect a bluu-ray laser's ability to read the disc.
