Tanks for the Amazing Photos
on June 21, 2019
Posted by: RedScorpion

Fair warning: this review is meant to walk a new user through the set up process describing features as I go.
The Eason EcoTank 2760 has ink... lots of ink. I have to say, I was initially nervous about the ink system. Instead of having traditional cartridges, this model has huge tanks built in and you fill the tanks with ink from a tube. I initially thought back to refilling inkjet cartridges in the late 90s and I became nervous, but Installing new ink in the 2760 was pretty easy and I didn’t make a mess. The printer has guides to place the tube into and you can then hear the ink empty into the tank below. Then simply lift up and close the flap.
On your first set up, the ink has to be charged. You’ll notice after you fill the tank the first time, some ink will be left in the tubes. Don’t throw those tubes away! After charging, the ink levels in the tank will drop and you can use what was left in those tubes to top off the ink tank.
Then you follow the instructions on screen to decide which box looks better and be prepared to second guess your choices because sometimes it isn’t so obvious. I also have no idea what the recovery process would be like if you put the wrong colored ink in the wrong slot. I don’t know if there is any keyed protection to keep that from happening. So, please be careful loading ink.
The initial set up process was simple enough, but the instructions on screen seemed to clash a bit with the instructions in the included print materials.
After setup, you can decide whether or not you want to install software from Epson. I would recommend it as the printer had firmware updates available and it seems the only way to get those updates is with the official driver package. Also, I don’t think you can set up google or email printing without the official drivers. To get those drivers, have your model number handy (ET-2760) and go to epson.com/support. Download and install.
Using the printer on Pc was easy. The printer will notice when you place new paper into the feed and ask you what size paper you want.
However, I noticed that those paper size settings on the printer must match the paper size settings on the device you are printing from, or you can get print errors on Android. On Android devices, you must install the printer plug-in. I kept getting print errors with little explanation until I realized it was because I had a print setting of letter on my android tablet and a setting of 8x10 on my printer.
Printing from an iPhone / iPad was easy. The printer supports AirPrint.
Photos looked great. I have a comparison photo from Gettysburg. Both photos had the same print settings and paper, but the Epson printer produces a much more colorful print. I was definitely impressed.
Copies weren’t as sharp as I would have liked. There are a lot of settings and perhaps I just need to play with it more. I wish there was a feeding document tray. Raising the scanner lid for multiple pages is a bit annoying when comparably priced printers have that feature.
That screen is tiny. I had a hard time seeing it unless I was right up on it.
So far, I recommend the printer. Time will tell how the ink and the print heads hold up. But for now, the printer does a good job.

For The Money, Good Not Great
on June 20, 2019
Posted by: RedScorpion
from Oklahoma City, OK
I feel like every review of these headphones will start with “for the money, these headphones are great.” Well, I’ll put a slightly different spin on things with “for the money, these headphones are good.” I can recommend them for the audio quality while listening to music during a workout. They are comfortable and sound much better than wireless bud headphones priced much higher, but they still have a few quirks and are far from perfect. If you can live with those quirks for the price, then you’ll probably enjoy these headphones quite a lot.
Set up was quite easy and I really like the travel case with its built-in charging cable. The indicator lights are bright, and I believe JLAB when they say these headphones will last around 40 hours. So far, battery life has been great.
I like the sound on these headphones, but wireless buds have always had an airy / tinny sound to them, and these, while better than others, still suffer a bit in that regard. The sound is richer, and the bass is much more pronounced than similar earbuds from JVC and I’d even argue apple’s air pods. But they aren’t going to sound as good as a pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones that share a wired connection to each other.
Instead of buttons that you can feel click, these earbuds have “touch sensors”. Both the left and right earbud have these built in sensors and tapping / holding the sensors enables and disables various functions. For example, pressing the left touch sensor once turns down the volume, pressing it twice enables SIRI, pressing and holding the left sensor for one second plus causes the track to go back, pressing the right sensor three times enables or disables be aware mode. If that sounds confusing to you, it is very confusing and non-functional in my experience. Instead of changing my aware mode, I find myself turning the volume up or pausing my music. It seems like my presses aren't always registering and it has been incredibly frustrating using the touch sensors for anything other than playing / pausing, turning the volume up, or taking a call.
So far, I haven't had problems with the headphones disconnecting from the phone, but I noticed when watching some YouTube videos, that my left headphone would occasionally get out of sync with the right one. It created a bit of an echo effect, but it only happened once or twice through hours of testing.
Phone calls were a bit… disappointing. People on the other end of the call told me I sounded like I was in a tunnel. I found the headphones, instead of just playing the sound evenly from both earbuds, wanted to transfer the caller from right to left earbud and vice versa. It was a bit distracting and occasionally the call would cut out as the headphones seemed to re-calibrate the audio. It wasn’t an awful experience, but it wasn’t good, either.
There is an app to burn-in your headphones and loosen the speaker diaphragms. It’s completely optional, but you should know that the sound quality of your headphones will likely improve the longer you use them.
In conclusion, as sweat resistant work-out headphones, I think these are pretty good headphones. For the price, they perform very well. I’m not sure I will ever get used to the touch sensor buttons and I won’t be using these buds for phone calls any time soon, but still, for the money, the audio is quite good.

Great Over the Air Solution
on June 20, 2019

With gigabit internet speeds and streaming options like Sling becoming more and more affordable, I decided to cut the cable box and an over the air antenna is the best way to get the local stations.
With a minimum level of compression, many of those stations look better than they did with my prior cable package.
With storm season in Oklahoma, having the antenna to keep ourselves weather aware has been, quite literally, a life saver.
As I have slowly added more antennas, I have experimented with medium ranged interior antennas from Leaf, LG, and RCA. So far, this RCA - Indoor Flat Amplified HDTV Antenna is my favorite antenna for the price. It has provided stable picture without interference.
This is my second RCA TV antenna. My other antenna was the similar ANT4WH. Similar in design, but without amplification and a listed range of 40 miles versus the 50 of this antenna. It worked fine, but occasionally would cut out on certain stations if anyone was moving around the antenna. I had that problem despite being only 10 miles from the towers. This new RCA indoor antenna works much better even without amplification. In fact, depending on your distanced to the tower, you may want to experiment with leaving amplification off as I discovered with other models of antenna that the amplification can actually cause interference if you are too close to the towers.
Cable length for this antenna was great and the included stand made it easy to place the antenna on a shelf near the entertainment center. You could also mount the antenna or place it in a window.
It can be hard to recommend an antenna because what works for one person won't work for everyone. I live in the suburbs of Oklahoma City and with very little trees and a distance of less than ten miles from the antenna, I find this antenna works great even without an amplifier.
To find what works best for you, there are sights like TVFool.com which can help you choose an antenna based on your location and distance to nearby towers.

Customize Your Sound Space w/ Great Sound Quality
on June 4, 2019
Posted by: RedScorpion
from Oklahoma City, OK
Short: I can easily recommend these headphones. The audio is impressive. The buttons are easy to navigate in-game. The headphones can be customized and they are incredibly comfortable. But PC audio cable is a bit short, audio isolation is a bit lacking without modding the ear pieces, and the audio mixer looks cool but may drain your batteries a bit faster than normal.
Longer: For my Xbox, I have been using a RIG500. Both headphones support spatial audio via the Dolby atmos app. But between the two, the audio is much richer with the A40. It sounds great and the chat mixer allows greater chat customization.
The mixer could use some tweaking. Adjustments aren’t as great as you would expect until it just completely cuts out the chat altogether. That was a complaint with the built in Xbox software mixer and it is still present here. But, having the chat mixer at your fingertips is a great improvement over having to hit guide and navigate to the mixer settings while you are in game.
The equalizer and mute controls light up. It looks cool, but keep in mind that your controller’s batteries are powering all of that.
Comfort: I think these are some of the most comfortable headphones I have owned. I honestly forgot I was wearing them and compared to my old turtle beach headphones, my RIG 500 headphones, and the Logitech G635 headphones, my ears never felt hot and I never noticed a pressure on my head.
As PC headphones, the cable is too short. At just about three feet, I found myself greatly constrained by the cable length. And because the cable connection wasn’t standard, it would be difficult to just swap that out with a longer cable you might have lying around. The headphones still sound great, but I can’t recommend them on PC unless you are close to a gaming laptop or you are gaming with an Xbox controller.
Microphone: I was told I sounded great. The audio from this mic is very clear. The microphone can be swapped to the left or right ear piece.
In conclusion, I would give these a 4.5 / 5. They sound great. I love the customizations. It took me a bit to get used to the mixer on the controller as I had to adjust my hand placement, but after an hour I forgot the mixer hadn’t always been there.
These headphones are an easy recommendation.

Great Headphones ... Okay Sunglasses
on May 22, 2019

Ever have a toy that you just have to show off to everyone you know? Well, these glasses are currently that toy for me. I love them. They could be better and I look forward to seeing where this technology goes, but as is: they sound amazing.
Of course they sound amazing, they’re Bose! Whether you are taking a phone call, listening to music, or enjoying the sound escapes of one of the many apps with incorporated support, you will never be disappointed in the sound.
The glasses look... okay. They honestly look a bit like something I would have expected from a 3D movie theater. Of course style is in the eye of the beholder. I think they look fine, but they won’t ever be confused with designer frames, either.
They aren’t always the most comfortable glasses. The glasses need rubber tips on the arms and some type of rubber grip for the nose piece. As it is, they move around a lot. These glasses are great for walking or enjoying a day at the pool / beach, but I find myself constantly adjusting them and they pinch my ears a bit. No deal breakers, but it could be better.
The app support shows a lot of promise. As an augmented reality device, there is a ton of potential. Imagine a relaxing scene with sounds that envelop you. If you turn your head, you can focus on individual sounds or change the course of an audio story. With some of the navigation apps, you can get information based on what you are looking at. The app potential is amazing. I can only imagine this technology at a zoo or incorporated into a motorcycle helmet.
The glasses are simple and intuitive. A button on the right arm wakes them up, plays and stops music, and answers phone calls. If you place the glasses upside down on a table, they instantly turn off and disconnect from your phone.
I wish there was google assistant integration built-in, but maybe that could be added later? We’re getting closer and closer to my own personal Jarvis!
In conclusion: I loved these glasses. There are things I would love to see improved upon, but as is, these are my new favorite toy.

Greatly Sped Up My Laptop
on May 17, 2019
Posted by: RedScorpion
from Oklahoma City, OK
Short review: this Black SN750 ssd has been a speedy and stable upgrade. I recommend it to anyone with the hardware to support it. It worked instantly and has reduced my system boot times significantly.
Longer:
I have been interested in an NVME SSD drive for a while, but I was always somewhat hesitant:
1). Would it work on my PC?
To know, best method is to check with your computer / motherboard manufacturer. You need an NVME slot. My laptop had a slot, but I only found out it had the right slot by searching google for my exact laptop model and nvme.
The manufacturer of my PC had been very vague, but they had released several firmware updates tweaking NVME performance which told me there was probably a slot there. Again, most most motherboard manufacturers (gigabyte, MSI, ASRock, ASUS) will tell you, but with a pre-manufactured PC, you may have to do some sleuthing online to figure it out.
Some things to check in your research: you'll need to know whether the slot on your main board is B key, M key, or B+M key, in addition to the overall form factor in mm width and length (2230, 2242, 2260, or 2280).
Your board should support m.2 2280 and PCI-Express X4 for the NVME to use this drive.
Also make sure you have the latest firmware for your particular device.
2) Installation: installation difficulty will vary depending on the manufacturer of your PC. To get my laptop upgraded, I had to remove all screws and then release clips along the side to expose the main board and the NVME slot.
There is no m.2 screw included with this drive and I had to take a screw from the existing hard drive mount to secure the drive.
3) Performance: as stated above, performance has been great. My machine boots in a matter of seconds. It has been a great upgrade compared to the stock HD that came preinstalled.
It does run a bit hot, but hasn’t been dangerously so. WD software requires .net framework installed.
I greatly recommend this drive, but make sure you have the necessary mounting screw or that you can acquire one fairly easily.

A Stylish Update to the Backup Plus
on May 10, 2019
Posted by: RedScorpion
from Oklahoma City, OK
I have been using a Seagate Backup Plus Slim 1TB for several years now and I am equally impressed with the new Seagate Backup Plus Ultra Touch.
The Touch is slightly faster (data transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps versus 4.8 Gbps) with hardware encryption built in to the device. Using the toolkit from Seagate's website, you can protect your drive should it be stolen or someone attempt to use it on an unauthorized computer.
A few nitpicks: The drive is slightly bigger than the slim.. The drive does include a USB-C adapter, but I would have preferred a straight up USB-C port on the drive and and a regular USB-C cable with a USB-A adapter if needed. As is, the USB-C adapter makes the plug a bit bulky. As it is, the drive has the same USB-B micro port as the older Backup Plus models.
Time will tell how well the cloth casing will hold up, but for now, I really like it. If you're looking for a speedy external hard drive with good security features built-in, you couldn't go wrong with the Backup Plus Ultra Touch.

How Is This Sorcery Possible!?!?
on May 9, 2019
Posted by: RedScorpion
from Oklahoma City, OK
Short summary: it works!
Just set it and forget it!
Of course, you have to have a phone / tablet that supports wireless charging and speeds will vary depending on your phone manufacturer. With Samsung phones, Belkin advertises charging from 0 to 80% in 35 minutes. But my iPhone 8 takes a bit longer. Still, the convenience is great. It charges through the phone case without a hitch.
In terms of design, the charger has pads on the back to keep the charging pad from sliding. The micro usb cable plugs into other USB ports or the included usb wall charger.
All-in-all, it works and I recommend it for anyone looking for a wireless charger.

It Cliq'd with Me
on April 23, 2019
Posted by: RedScorpion
from Oklahoma City, OK
The Canon IVY Cliq is an update on the old Polaroid of years ago. It produces zero ink pictures and it does a good job.
The instant ink photos feel a bit like a gimmick, but they are fun. Last summer I picked up a Polaroid Onestep and I was incredibly disappointed. the pictures looked awful, and the film was incredibly expensive. Thankfully, the Cliq suffers from none of those problems. On a single charge, I was able to take ten pictures and the pictures came out looking pretty good.
I compared the IVY Cliq with the HP Sprocket instant ink printer. I took one picture with my phone and the other with the Cliq. I probably got more fine detail with the Sprocket, but the colors looked better with the IVY. Also, there was less banding and distracting lines with the IVY. The photos looked more like actual, tiny photos.
The camera itself comes with a tiny selfie mirror built in along with a slot for a micro-sd card to back-up pictures. Both worked as expected. I wish this camera had a digital view screen and a way to print photos from my phone, but as an instant point and print, it works well.
My general attitude with reviews is "did the item work as described and did I enjoy it?". The IVY more than met those expectations. I wish it had Bluetooth built-in (I believe the more expensive models do), but I can't fault this model as it is good at what it does.
I think the cameras are fun and look snappy, the prints look good, the film isn't too expensive (last I checked you can get a pack of 20 shots for $10), and the device is simple and reliable. Easily recommend to friends and family.
Note: With Mother's Day /graduations coming up, I think these cameras will make for a good gift. Combine the camera with a photo album for small prints, and really make their day.

I want to love it....
on April 21, 2019
Posted by: RedScorpion
from Oklahoma City, OK
.... but it just doesn’t work very well.... yet.
The microphone struggles to pick up what I say. When I get the device to hear me, it cuts off or the app doesn’t register my command. I don’t know how much of that is a problem with the Google assistant app or with the device, but it just doesn’t work as advertised.
The few times it does work, the volume is really low compared to the Bluetooth music I am streaming. So I play a game of turning the audio up to listen to Google, but then turn it back down before the music comes back on. There’s a toggle that is supposed to let the device stream commands through the Bluetooth for phone calls as opposed to streaming media, but that toggle didn’t work for me.
The interface is unintuitive. I can hear Google tell me I have notifications, but it just keeps flashing lights. If I pressed the Google button, it just told me again I had notifications. There’s an almost Morse code guide to button presses and I never seemed to be in the sweet spot to have anything work.
The “instructions”, available with the device and online, are bare minimum. You get a small foldout with the device and the extra steps online were pretty useless in my experience.
I can get the device to dictate a text message, but I still have to press send on the phone. About the only thing that has worked well is when I ask it for a sports update or for it to give me the weather.
Getting the device connected to the Google assistant app was pretty easy. I set it up in two cars, one with AUX and the other with Bluetooth with two different iPhones. The problems were pretty universal. I think audio quality is better over AUX, but then you have an additional cable to worry about. But if your car lacks Bluetooth audio streaming, this does provide a pretty reliable way to stream your music.
I really hope it gets better. I think this is a great idea and I want to see this product work. Hands free commands seems like a great idea, but a weak microphone makes no sense on a device like this as the device has to compete with the car stereo and road noise to work. This device just isn’t ready, yet.
I oddly would still recommend it for the right person. If nothing else it provides some functionality and good Bluetooth streaming and I really hope the other stuff gets better with time and my own practice with the device. But as it is, most people I know would just get frustrated and stop using it and I can’t really blame them.

where is the micro phone? can it be used for a call center?

The headset features a retractable boom mic on the right ear piece. In my opinion, the headset would work well in a call center or home based call center. There is a mute button built in to the headset and the mic works in either Bluetooth or the wired 3.5mm mode.

Will these headphones work with I buy power computers

Yes, if the computer has Bluetooth built-in. If the computer does not have Bluetooth built-in, you will need to purchase a separate USB Bluetooth Adapter *(they tend to run between $10 and $20).

Can it be used with or without the earbuds?

Yes?

Without the included earbuds, you can use your own or connect via Bluetooth. There is no built in speaker on the player if that's what you are asking.

have a 2019 mazda cx3 w/bluetooth capability. Will this work? Is a usb power cord available?

It should pair with your car, but there is no USB power cord. It still relies on an older ac or dc adapter.

Will this work with Apple Bluetooth earbuds?

I don't see why it wouldn't. I paired it with Bluetooth headphones from Samsung, Sony, and JVC without problems. The only quirk is you have to make sure to turn on the Bluetooth feature each time you start the CD player. Also, sometimes the devices have to be re-synced every time you power on. My headphones kept the connection, but some of my Bluetooth speakers did not.

I read online that this mouse doesnt work with windows 10?

I am using Windows 10 ver. 1903. It works fine. It works on Windows 10 over Bluetooth and with the included USB light speed receiver.
