I found this movie to be astonishing. I've read many books and maps of the Soviet conquest of Afghanistan, and this movie does a great job of illustrating their struggle. Just when you might think we (USA) have had it tough in Afghanistan you can see that the Soviets' debacle. This apparently attempts to tell the tale of a Soviet Spetznaz (Soldiers with a special service) holding a hill during the Afghan conflict. Much of this movie tries to bring that conflict to light, but leaves out much of the actual "true" conflict according to said documentation; However, the movie does a great job of showing the world what little suport that their conscript Army had to fight an impossible war. No matter which military you serve under, we're all brothers / sisters in arms.
What's great about it: told through Soviet era eyes / scenery
What's not so great: script and acting are bit short
