AudioQuest Rocket 33 Bi-Wire is an award-winning speaker cable that boasts an unrivaled combination of performance and value. Appropriate for biwirable speaker systems and terminated with high-quality silver-plated banana plugs, AudioQuest Rocket 33 Bi-Wire is a versatile high-performance speaker cable resolving enough for high-end audio systems, durable enough for studio use, and practical enough for most home entertainment systems. Rocket 33 uses a carefully finessed combination of AudioQuest’s Solid Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC) and Long-Grain Copper (LGC) conductors in a Double Star-Quad configuration designed to reduce distortion for cleaner, clearer, more naturally detailed sound. Further, Rocket 33 features AudioQuest’s effective Carbon-Based Noise-Dissipation, and, as with all AudioQuest cables, the conductors in Rocket 33 are Direction-Controlled to minimize the damaging effects of radio-frequency noise. Whenever possible, running separate cables to the treble and bass portions of a biwireable loudspeaker significantly reduces distortion. For these applications, an AudioQuest cable like Rocket 33 Bi-Wire keeps the large magnetic fields associated with bass energy out of the treble cable, allowing the delicate upper frequencies to travel a less disturbed path, like taking the waves out of the water when you swim. The result is smoother, clearer, more natural sound. With its thoughtful, time-tested combination of high-quality materials and design elements, AudioQuest Rocket 33 is an outstanding choice for all types of music, movies, and listening environments.

Immediate, Noticeable Improvement
on March 26, 2015

Once again Audioquest has set high expectations for product quality and has exceeded them. I have seen (and heard) the improvements their Carbon HDMI cables have made in my system. Their Rocket 33 cable has made a marked improvement on my Polk CSi A6 center channel speaker. The crisp highs and mids seem more focused and more accurate. I attribute some of this to the biwiring design. The rest? All audioquest engineering. Now to get some type 4's for the front channels...

First off I am a major HT buff, so this comes from somone who has a good idea of what they're doing. Second I have been a die hard Yamaha fan for 20 years & this is my first non-Yamaha reciever ever.
I bought this to upgrade from an RX-V471 reciever. I have Polk RTi-A5's and the 80wpc from the Yamaha was a little underwhelming for those towers. The 95w from the Sony, coupled with newer codecs, BT support and 7.2ch power seemed like a win win. I always felt that while good, Sony lacked the finesse when it came to surround sound and musical detail that I had with my Yamahas. I think in this case I may be wrong. The Sony sounds fantastic. If there is a difference (and I "think" there is) I can't figure it out. I wanted to not be as impressed as I am. But here I am writing the review. I could care less about the remote, I have a Harmony (as should anyone who is serious about HT). I don't have any need for use of the 2nd zone. But I will be using the bi-amp feature soon...
I do wish the surround settings from the reciever were more straight forward. No Surround Decode? C'mon guys, so close to Perfection...
Bottom line, fantastic reciever at a steal of a price.

These are my third set of HDMI cables used in HT my setup. The first was Monoprice. They worked just fine and were very cheap. Then I upgraded to Monster 1000 series and I noticed better audio performance. Then I took a fairly pricey leap to the AQ Carbon line. I didn't want to notice a difference. I didn't. But I did. I could not ask for better performance from the cable. Picture is sharp, audio is crisp and the motion is smooth. Anyone with a higher end TV should use these and see the difference. I went with them due to their higher silver content and I truly believe this is where the AQ lineup gets REALLY good. I now need to get a better TV as these cables show of the lack of processing on my 4 year old Samsung plasma.

No HULU, No HBOGO...
By Dave
I was excited when this came out, as I was an early adopter to 4K, and was upset to find out that I wasn't able to get netflix in 4K. Although I get netflix in 4k, that is about all of the features. No other applications are available except Sony's Unlimited 4k streaming service. If I had to do it all over again I would get a bluray player that has netflix 4k and other apps like HBOGO for a fraction of the cost. Because now I have to go get a chromecast for HBOGO.

We're all still Waiting...
October 19, 2014
As of this posting there are NO blu-ray players that support Netflix 4k, nor does amazon or hulu have any 4k content that will be available from a blu ray player. The TV's are the only way to access the 4k streamed content other than your media player. And HBO Go is only available on Samsung TV's, as they signed a exclusivity contract 2 years ago. That however will be changing next spring...

Nice picture, unable to stream 4k Netflix/amazon
By Surfski
I bought a Samsung ju6700 and returned it to purchase this Sony based on the faster refresh rate and better colors. I have to admit, that if I would have known the Sony didn't ship with the ability to stream in 4k I would have kept the Samsung. So you buy a 4k TV and can't get content, what is the point, right? I may have to return it and get the Samsung again. It ships with all the apps, and they work. My advice is to wait for Sony to update with working apps or buy the Samsung. I am disappointed in Sony, and I am a big Sony fan.

The better picture is well worth the wait. Samsung didn't have any streaming apps initially either. You still should be able to cast netflix from a mobile device untill the updated app from Netflix goes live. New OS, give it a week.

All comments being made before May 31st are at this point moot. Other than HULU Plus and the web browser has been resolved in the last software update. Samsungs Tizen based TV's had horrible problems out of the box at first, but they're mostly resolved now. It's a fantastic tv for hundreds less than the JS8500. Don't belive the hype. The Sony is the right choice.

Not great so far
By cdd54321
I tried the 55 and it was great--liked it so much I wanted to get the larger 65 version. The 65 hasn't been great so far and seems to have some banding issues(vertical discoloration panels) or lacks uniformity. Mine has a strip of blue/green in the center. I've calibrated, reset, tried build in picture settings, but I can't get this thing dialed properly. The 55 presets were great and really didn't need much, but I can't say the same for the 65. The interface/menus will also lock up periodically, but I'm sure this can be remedied with a firmware update.
The other issue is the upscaling from 720/1080 to 4k. This is rather hit or miss and really seems dependent on your source--so if it's mediocre then it's going to look pretty bad. Clean sources can look good, but many of them aren't good from directv or comcast.
I'm somewhat torn about swapping for another(assuming it's defective) or downgrading to a 1080p tv. Posting pics of the banding issue.

Try doing a system update. There have been a few of these so far and every one has shown improvements. Also look at doing a initial setup on the tv. Sounds wierd but can clean up alot of issues believe it or not.

The tv DOES have audio out...
August 30, 2015
The headphone jack can easily be converted to full size RCA by using a $6 cord. What good is DTS or DOLBY decoding if you are going to use "cheap computer speakers or powered monitors" in STEREO.
As for the 3d any active 3d glasses will work with the tv just fine.

Disappointment in a box
By JoshM
So let me start with this tv has great picture, great sound, and I love Android Tv.
Now with the bad that brings this 4-5 star tv down to 1 star. The box and online material leads you to believe that this TV comes with the "flick" remote so that you can speak commands to the AndroidTv (an important feature for me) it does not.
The box/online material leads you to believe the TV has PIP, it does not it is awaiting a firmware update that is yet TBA, when asking support they said they have no timeline.
The box online material leads you to believe you can use "Google cast" feature, as you may have guessed you cannot. I spent 2 and a half hours with support, and factory reset the TV I don't know how many times and the feature still doesn't work.
Needless to say I'm severely disappointed, Sony used to be a reliable brand, however after this debacle I will NEVER buy another sony product...its bad enough the features aren't there, but support was also completely useless.

Sorry you feel burned Josh,
October 18, 2015
The one flick "voice search" remote only comes with the x850c and higher but you can buy one to get that functionality if you want. Or you could just use the FREE android tv remote app that does the same thing.
As far as the PIP goes no tv on sale in north america can do pip unless you're using an antenna. Blame your cable provider, they're the hold up on that one.
And with the casting issue, i'm going to look into that today. Do you have Chromecast installed on your device (phone/tablet)? Also do you have the latest firmware update on both the tv and device.? I know these can be issues.

Nice TV so far a struggle to setup
By Dave
I'm having trouble setting this unit up without an Owner's Manual. The model numbers are confusing when searching Sony's Website for an on-line pdf format manual. I have an older Bose Surround Sound System that uses RCA Jacks to connect. The Sony isn't hooking up correctly very frustrating because I lack the information to troubleshoot.

Getting your sound working
November 10, 2015
You will need a 3.5mm to RCA cable and perhaps 2 RCA double ended connectors to use your legacy Bose System. Then set the sound output to external speaker. Should fix it just fine. Also remember 1888BESTBUY for tech support.

8k for headaches.
By Bobt from NJ
I'm warning you that if you want a Sony and to spend 8k on a TV that may be great but the second you have a problem, you wasted 8k.
So, if you want a TV look to Samsung especially if you have any problems with a Sony. I purchased a Sony XBR 55 and a Sony 65 930d recently. The XBR last 20 hours and then no picture. I called Sony on July 1st and posted several reviews on this site, which were followed by " Sony Listens" responses and to email them. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME...THEY READ AND NEVER DO A THING.
I've been trying to get this fixed or replaced since July 1st. After many calls and more hours wasted than the TV lasted, they agreed to replace the brand new TV w a certified used TV. Great! Finally last week they called to schedule a delivery for July 27th and gave me a window between 8am and 8pm with a call an hour before delivery. I called Sony 877-591-7669 at 6pm last night and spoke with Micky the supervisor and he assured me that the TV would show up. I told him I'd call tomorrow at 9am if it didn't. I just called him and he I could only leave him a message.
Still waiting for the call from Micky....
Btw, Sony, whatever ever you do, don't posted a "Sony Listens" comment after this. It just makes me want to write more negative reviews about your lousy support and products.

Sorry for your troubles
July 31, 2016
I take it that you did not ACTUALLY purchase this item from Best Buy? I'm sorry for the trouble you've had but every TV company that i've had to deal with directly has been a joke. Samsung is no better or worse than anyone else. This is why TV manufacturers hate selling direct.

Sony X810C abd X800C panel types and contrast,brightness ?

I understand that the Sonty X810 C and X800c are direct lit ( rear lite ) not edge lit are they VA panels and what is the brightness ( luminance and contrast) specification for each X800C and X810C model
I'm buying a new set next month to replace an othewise very good Sony 40 R450a for a bigger screen. I've owned 3 Sony TV's so far and they were all very good.

My short list right now is the Sony 55X850C and Samsung 55 JU 7100 and 55 JS 8500 and I will look at these new Sony sets also.
Look at the ratings on www.rtings.com. they have a full scientific analysis of each tv (contrast and luminance). The 810 will have the best contrast out of all 3 tv's.

Voice Command Acceptance on 810C

We purchased the 810C on the basis that it was the same as the 840C only without 3D capability. We really liked the ability of the the 840 to accept voice commands.

After the 810C was delivered and installed we found that you need a special voice input remote that is apparently not included in the box in order to access this feature. Why the TV accepts voice input, but Sony does not give you the tool to input voice data makes no sense.

The 810 definitely has the ability to accept voice commands because a microphone icon appears in the upper left corner which you can turn off and on and a search box prompts you to speak your choice.

The manager at the store told us to call Sony in order to get the special remote you need to speak into. They recommended a website and model # RMF-ED004. In looking at this (see picture) it does not seem to be what we need to access voice commands and it's $100 plus tax and shipping!

Can you tell me how to input voice commands on the 810C and verify that the remote pictured is the correct one?

thanks
User submitted photo
That is not the correct remote. That is last years non-voice control remote. The other way to access the voice input is by Using the Android TV app on the google play store. It is free and very easy to use.

Do Hz ratings on HDMI cables equal your max Hz ability on a TV?

I've seen that some HDMI cables have a max Hz number. Does this make buying a TV with a 600Hz refresh rate illogical?
Cables will all support 24/30/60 hz signals. The TV is what makes the 60/120/240/600 Hz picture out of the signal.
