Most of the tracks on this album are incredible, and would make John Denver proud. There are a couple that are just OK. I'm not going to name them because the artist performing them did a good job they are just not my style. There is a great mix of well-known artists and up-and-coming artists. The songs chosen were perfect for a tribute to John. My personal favorites were Take Me Home Country Roads by Brandi Carlile & Emmylou Harris/ Sunshine On My Shoulders by Train/Leaving On A Jet Plane by My Morning Jacket/ Back Home Again by Old Crow Medicine Show/ Some Days are Diamonds by Amos Lee/ All Of My Memories by Kathleen Edwards/ This Old Guitar by Lucinda Williams/ I Guess He'd Rather Be In Colorado by Mary Chapin Carpenter. Like I said none of the songs are bad those were just my favorites. The only downside is the packaging, the cd has fallen out several times. Otherwise, just buy it. You'll have no regrets.
My Best Buy number: 753087358
What's great about it: A very eclectic mix of artists playing great John Denver tunes
What's not so great: The case is not so great, cd tends to fall out.
This is a great album from start to finish. These days it is hard to find an entire album of great music. Most artists seem to aim for singles, Matt has made an entire album of single-worthy material. I became interested in this album after hearing "Little Victories" on Scrubs He is a great singer/songwriter, but this isn't the usual singer/songwriter format. There is a lot of great acoustic stuff but this is a guitar heavy album. There are times where I'm reminded of Sister Hazel and Tonic. Matt can do the delicate acoustic stuff while at the same time pull out great rock tunes. I highly recommend this album.
What's great about it: Wonderful music and production.
