Great colors, large screen but frightening setup
on April 1, 2009

Best colors I've ever seen in a monitor. Large screen....but be warned, you have to apply a very scary amount of pressure when mounting the monitor to the base. And, even then, it's hard to tell if it has snapped into place....since there's no sound or "feeling". Other than that, great LCD....just be prepared getting it set up.
What's great about it: Vibrant colors, large beautiful screen
What's not so great: Stand is very difficult to mount

Best Tiger yet!
on August 28, 2008

I've played virtually every Tiger game over the years and I'm convinced this is the best one yet. The past couple of years, the sensitivity of the analog stick has been a little too twitchy in my opinion. My wife stopped playing the game due to the difficulty in hitting a straight shot. Tiger 09 has brought the series back with great control. It's much easier to hit generally straight shots even as your player is just beginning with lower skills. They have managed to accomplish this without making the game too easy. It still takes great touch on approach shots and putting to score well. Another plus is the exotic course locations that have been included. Wolf Creek must be played to be believed. Generally fast load times are a plus also. They have completely new commentators this year to freshen things up for those of us tired of hearing the same lines over and over again.
If you love video game golf, you will love Tiger 09!
What's great about it: Great graphics, superb control
What's not so great: Haven't found one yet

One of the best racing games on the 360!
on June 5, 2008
Posted by: redtiger777
from Missouri
The 360 has a great lineup of racing titles, so to say that this (in my opinion) is the best is saying something. The makers of this game also made DiRT and there are definite similiarities between the two titles.
Game lets you drive from several different perspectives and all are useable. The cockpit view is especially sweet if you prefer realism.
Career mode (Grid World) is set up where you race in 3 different areas (US/Europe/Japan). You have complete freedom to choose events from each region. Early in the game, you will also be allowed to have your own team where you can decide what sponsors you accept and some simple car design templates. Not as deep as Forza 2, but the options still do the job of making you feel like you are able to customize the look of your cars.
Control in this game is spot on with a gamepad. Haven't had the luxury of trying a wheel with this, but I hear that it rocks.
Can't recommend this game highly enough. Different skill levels should enable players of all abilities (or lack of) to turn on this game and enjoy it.
What's great about it: Interesting track locations and layouts/Superb graphics/Great sense of speed
What's not so great: Drifting is hard

Great quality Bluray movie
on May 16, 2008

You either like Twister or you don't. So I won't review the movie. You're probably wondering if this is an improvement over the previous DVD releases...and the answer to that is a resounding YES.
Surprisingly clear picture considering the movie is 12 years old now. Not quite demo material to show off the best of bluray....but a great catalog release that is more than worth it for a fan of the movie.
What's great about it: Very clear picture, great colors, much better than the DVD
What's not so great: None really other than the limitations of the source material

Better than the DVD

The DVD of this movie was great quality and the bluray is even better. The colors really explode off the screen and the sound will impress if you have the speaker system to show it off.
It seems to me a majority of bluray catalog releases are uneven in their quality. Great moments combined with grain and noise. NOT THIS ONE THOUGH! Picture is pristine throughout and never lets up.
What's great about it: Crystal clear picture, outstanding colors
What's not so great: None

Great quality bluray title!

Again...not interested in reviewing the movie as much as the bluray quality. Most will rent the DVD/bluray and buy the bluray if they like the movie. I did enjoy the movie and laughed out loud more than once. As others have mentioned, a good family movie with a good heart.
What will surprise you regardless of your opinion of the movie is the quality of the bluray disc. Jaw-dropping quality throughout. Epic colors...really shows you what is hopefully going to become the standard for all new bluray releases if the studios take their time and do it right.
Highly recommended if you have a good high def setup!
What's great about it: Pristine picture, great colors
What's not so great: somewhat hokey ending

Movie was better than I expected...but what really blew me away was how good this bluray looks. Spectacular colors, no noise or grain....crystal clear picture.
If all blurays looked like this, everyone would want one. If you have a new high def bluray setup and want to show your friends what it can do, highly recommend this movie.
What's great about it: Epic quality bluray picture!
What's not so great: Not all blurays are of this quality

Not a good quality Blu-Ray
on May 5, 2008

Not going to review the movie. By now, you've seen it and either liked it or didn't. Personally I have always enjoyed Independence Day.
My main concern is the quality of this bluray disc. To me, there is just too much grain and noise in alot of the scenes. With high def, you hope for clarity and pristine colors. I came away from this bluray not really happy that I was getting good bluray quality. Certain scenes really shine...then 2 minutes later, you get something that looks like VHS.
If bluray is going to become a dominant high definition format like DVD did (and I hope it does), we're going to have to get better quality than this.
What's great about it: Good movie/Better than DVD version
What's not so great: still very grainy in places
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Best baseball game on any platform
on May 5, 2008
Posted by: redtiger777
from Missouri
There is no baseball game on any platform that comes close to MLB 08 Road to the Show. Graphics really make you feel like you're at the park and the road to the show mode will make you feel how tough it is to make the majors.
Be aware that there are glitches. I lost several hours playing time when the game froze up when the game cut to a cinema of one of my near home runs that went foul. Game locked with the catcher turning around waiting on a ball from the umpire. Moral of this story? Save your career often.
Even with the bugs (and there really aren't that many), this is the best baseball game you can buy. Even good enough to buy a PS3 for if you don't already have one just to play this game.
What's great about it: Unmatched control, much improved graphics, superb career mode
What's not so great: Freezing bugs/glitches
I would recommend this to a friend!

Frame Rate Problems
on May 5, 2008
Posted by: redtiger777
from Missouri
This game had a ton of promise. Great car models, extremely deep modification and upgrade process and some unique areas to race in. But, is extremely hard to understand how to find what you're looking for due to a horrific menu system. On the career overmap, it's hard to tell what racing series are open and how to get back to where you want to be.
Once you get past that, there's some fun to be had in Prostreet....the Speed Challenges later in the game are great fun...but this is also where you'll encounter frame rate hiccups and stuttering....which is a deal-breaker when you're traveling at nearly 200 mph.
Not the worst driving game I've ever played....but not even close to the great NFS games like Most Wanted.
What's great about it: Fun races in the early part of the game
What's not so great: Awful menus, Frame rate dip and hiccups during latter stages of game
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What is the differance between a netbook and a notebook?

What is the differance between netbook and note book?
There are 3 general differences. First, netbooks normally don't come with an optical drive (like a CD or DVD/RW) while notebooks normally do. You will also be restricted in video power due to the fact it will be integrated into the motherboard in a netbook while notebooks can be equipped with a dedicated (and much more powerful) card. It is also very difficult to upgrade a netbook while most notebooks can easily have more ram or a new hard drive added.

Hope that helps.

My 13 year old loves history games and needs a computer for gaming. What is a good laptop option that is not too expensive but can run most games?

My advice would be to get him this refurb Asus. I've had this laptop and it will play all current games at good detail:

If you're willing to consider refurbished, then this laptop will meet and exceed your needs. I've had one of these and they're stellar:

It's the Asus G72 refurbished through Best Buy. Currently sells for $729. Hope that helps.

Which is more important Memory or Hard Drive size

Depends on your priorities. Never get a machine with not enough RAM...hard drive size is purely for storage...but pay attention to the RPM speed...5400 is normal...but a 7200 RPM drive will load applications faster.

how much does a product key cost?

You can purchase a license key from Microsoft. OEM keys are normally slightly cheaper but must be purchased with hardware from vendors such as Newegg. Here's a link to Microsoft's page:

What's the diff. tween netbook / laptop for 12 yr. old girl

Most netbooks don't have an optical drive (such as a DVD drive). So, if you plan to install programs off of a disc, then you'll need to purchase an external drive.

Also of note, netbooks generally have very limited video power. Due to size, there are no dedicated video cards...so you're mostly limited to browsing, Facebook, etc. Not intended for anything other than the most casual web gaming.
