A powerful and more realistic western
on March 2, 2008

This is a beautiful movie that takes another aspect to the wild west. Instead of targeting primitive movie fans with short attention spans and a lust for action, this movie aims to please by cinematography, character development, and superb acting. Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck have as good of a performance as I've ever witnessed. Sam Rockwell also displays a solid performance.
This movie spends the majority of its time letting you see an objective side to the lives of Jesse James and Bob Ford. Not just what the comics or newspapers propagandized. Both James and Ford were two highly complex individuals and this movie does a great job of portraying that. The movie gives each two distinct themes with the cinematography and soundtrack. I really felt connected with both characters as the movie was a dedication to them both.
Instead of your typical western with off-the-wall gun fights, this movie takes a more realistic approach. And while the movie is developing its characters, the tension builds as the climax approaches.
Although the movie takes about 2 and a half hours to get to the climax, I still didn't mind because I was still almost fooled that the inevitable couldn't happen. And even after the climax there is a continuation of the story which isn't hinted at in the title and makes the movie even more enjoyable.
I recommend this film for those who enjoy great acting, cinematography, soundtracks, and a powerful connection with the characters of the movie.
What's great about it: Casey Affleck is superb!
What's not so great: A little long, but worth it.

Are you watching closely?

The Prestige offers superb acting from Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman with great support from Michael Caine and Scarlett Johansson. The entire story from the very opening scene grips you and doesn't let go until the groundbreaking and unpredictable ending. It's an absolute thrill ride of puzzles, twists, and turns that has the audience scrambling to figure it out until the secrets are finally released in the last minute. The ending will leave you wanting to see this movie again and again.
What's great about it: Very unpredictable and true to the book

The Epitome of a Western
on February 24, 2008

This is absolutely a beautiful movie. For those who like westerns, you will love this one. For those who don't like westerns.. this will make you like them. Clint Eastwood and Gene Hackman are at their best. When movies such as 3:10 to Yuma are dubbed "the best western since Unforgiven" you know Unforgiven has to be good. I've seen this movie on dvd and was a little skeptical about buying it on blu ray considering its age but wow.. it's just as dazzling as any other blu ray movie I have. It looks like the movie just came out. I strongly recommend this movie just in itself and on blu ray.
What's great about it: Acting, scenery, and plot- all beautifully coordinated
What's not so great: none!

Fun game but slightly disappointed
on January 6, 2008

This is of course a very fun and addicting game. Everything is pretty much co-op but if you've played one shooter game you've played them all in my opinion. Kind of lame storyline.. or lack of one. Good, not great graphics. This game does have multiplayer though which is why i recommend it because there are few out there that have that. Can't play the storyline in multiplayer but you can play a variety of 'versus' games that are very fun. I love the array of weaponry which is probably the one thing that can seperate this shooter from others.
What's great about it: Very fun game to play- MULTIPLAYER!
What's not so great: "universal" shooter game with mediocre storyline

Best game so far for PS3
on January 6, 2008

This is the best PS3 game i've played so far and i've played all the major ones. Very addicting gameplay and great storyline. Graphics are amazing in HD. Gameplay reminds me of God of War with the style of play. Storyline reminds me of National Treasure. So if you like either of those, you'll probably love this game. I only wish I had bought it sooner.
What's great about it: Graphics, storyline, and very addicting gameplay
What's not so great: no multiplayer
