The mother of all comedies, Airplane! finally comes home to DVD in this elaborate Don't Call Me Shirley! 25th Anniversary Edition. The film is once again presented with an anamorphic 1.85:1 widescreen picture and 5.1 sound, though the real meat of the disc comes in the form of a slew of new extras. A commentary track is now included, with Jerry and David Zucker heading down memory lane with co-writer Jim Abrahams and producer John Davison. Anyone familiar with the Kentucky Fried Movie commentary will be pleased to know that this track is equally as funny, though the comedic team's fuel runs a bit dry by the end. In other features, the disc is supplied with a "Long Haul Version" that includes deleted scenes and interviews via a branching system. While it would have been nice to access them separately, there is something satisfying in seeing some of these trimmed pieces added back into the film, even if it means endlessly searching for the TransAmerican logo to appear on the screen anytime you'd like to rewatch any of these extras. Also available are the original theatrical trailer and a trivia track, which basically rehashes most of the information given in the previous two extras. The Don't Call Me Shirley! Edition is a worthy upgrade for those with the 2000 release and a great addition to any home library that's lacking the title.

A classic that is still funny to this day

"Airplane! The `Don't Call Me Shirley' Edition" manages to combine silliness, puns and with topical humor in a style that recalls something out of an alternate off-kilter universe. Filled with melodramatic, over-the-top music, deliberately bad acting and every cliché about plane disasters you can imagine, "Airplane!" aims wildly and accurately most of the time taking the wind out of the sails of bad (and some good ones, too such as "Jaws")movies everywhere.

This mind bending release from the sci-fi animated series Aeon Flux includes all 16 episodes of the show, following the high-style adventures of a seductive and extremely flexible secret agent battling a totalitarian government in a dystopian future.

Chung has digitally remastered all of the episodes and they have never looked or sounded better. The colours are much more vibrant and the animation style more clearly defined with shadows fleshed out creating an even more cinematic vibe. What is so striking about Aeon Flux is that it refuses to appeal to the lowest common denominator. It features very intricately plotted and complex stories and sneaks in all sorts of fantastical creations (including spider-like robots and deadly genetically engineered assassins with four arms), suggestive references and the level of violence that you wouldn't find on regular television. Aeon Flux was adventurous programming for the alternative nation. It was produced at a time when alternative culture was making serious inroads into the mainstream and it is doubtful that we will see its likes again from MTV.

Aeon is Hot

What I loved, other than the fantastic costumes and surreal landscapes was the twists and turns in the story! This reminded me of those books I read and loved, when you didn't really know who the bad guy was and that was really going on. You must pay attention as a lot goes! Aeon and Goodchild are caught in a game of cat and mouse and it was enticing to see how they were connected and what the truth would do.
What's great about it: They brought Peter Chung's art to life
What's not so great: no sequel

This was easily one of the best DVD sets I've ever bought. Both Ace Venturas in one set, and includes the cartoon series. This was a great buy, and well worth it for the price. If you like the movies, you'll love this set. Not sure what some of these people are cryin about. You knew what you were getting when you bought it. If you like Ace Ventura, buy this set!!
What's great about it: both movies in one package
What's not so great: didn't make another one

Anytime I need a laugh, I can rely on this film to provide them despite the numerous times I've seen it. That's a credit to everyone involved in making this film, but most especially to the three actresses who really play well off each other with comedic brilliance! I'm glad they have released a special edition, as I waited to buy it on DVD for just such an edition. Now the long wait is over.
What's great about it: humor never gets old

Good western in a long time

The Western genre is pretty rare nowadays--the Hollywood of today usually prefers other kinds of films (we feel you Clint Eastwood). Fortunately for the die-hard fans of the classic Spaghetti Western, the waiting is over. 3:10 to Yuma is one of the best Western film in years and probably one of the best films of 2007 overall. Not only we get excellent performances by Crowe and Bale, but the film captures the Western film traditions from the past--everything from a compelling story with a sense of justice and great gun action. Read on and I tell you, even if you're not a fan of Western, why you have to watch this extraordinary film.

Frank MIller

A more intense shot of testosterone you will not find in any film. Equal parts bravado, guts and glory, "300" is simply the most exciting film to come out this year - or in several. Criticized for its violence and gore, fans of Miller's graphic novels will find that violence and gore to be as beautifully depicted on the screen as in the print version. A highly hyped CGI affair the cast could easily have been overcome by the sheer impressiveness of the physical production. To his credit director Zack Snyder is blessed with and uses a cast every bit equal to the challenge of competing with Miller's dark fantastic take of the Spartan's greatest story.

A great sequel to the Danny Boyle-directed horror hit that terrified audiences worldwide by offering a breathless new take on the familiar zombie mythos. You just have to run run as fast as you can. Can't wait for the next one.

Danny Boyle's hit suspense film 28 Days Later comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. The transfer does a fabulous job of capturing the often gritty, yet occasionally lovely digital photography that helped earn the film its well-deserved audience. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital 5.1, while Spanish and French soundtracks have been recorded in Dolby Digital Surround. English and Spanish subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include an entertaining commentary track recorded by Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland. The two had previously collaborated on The Beach, and they have an easy repartee with each other. Three alternative endings are offered, along with commentary explaining why those endings were discarded. One of these is a close to 15-minute sequence that utilizes storyboards and an old script read by Garland and Boyle in order to show how the film's third act might have changed. These endings will be familiar to anyone. There are half a dozen deleted scenes with optional commentary, a close to 30-minute making-of featurette, trailers, a still photo gallery, and a music video. This is a strong release from 20th Century Fox.

This IS Batman

First thing's first. This game is not based off the movie. This is based off Batman, period. The PS3 had a bonus over other platforms as you get to play as the Joker. The challenges and riddles left behind from Edward Nigma. Collecting character bios of everyone you come across in this twisted maze of Gotham's very own dark Arkham Asylum. Can even Batman survive a night locked up with ALL of Gotham's freaks and madmen?
What's great about it: We've come a long way since the last Batman game
What's not so great: still trying to find something....
