Black Hawk Down is one of the best war movies I have ever had the pleasure of watching. This forgotten, or less known, story of the American raid of Somalia in 1993 is finally brought to light in this movie. There is a bunch of action (maybe too much for those who aren't big fans of war movies), a good storyline, and good actors to go along with it. I own this movie on bluray and the quality and sound are fantastic - and so are the extra features. If you love war movies, you are sure to love this one.
What's great about it: Great war movie, awesome effects
What's not so great: Too much action, sometimes you can get bored of it
When I bought "The Lonesome Crowded West", I really did not know what to expect. I had just purchased "We Were Dead Before..." some months before hand, and I was curious to know how Modest Mouse came to be such a great band. What I did not expect was this album to be better than all of their others, and to place in my top ten favorite albums, ever. From the powerful lyrics, to the guitars that actually make you feel "lonesome" (by far my most favorite aspect of the album), you will not be let down. Buy this album, let it play a couple of times, and you will grow to appreciate the true artwork in music that certainly is lacking in this day and age. If you love indie music, or music in general, you will not regret this purchase.
Best Tracks : Teeth Like God's Shoeshine, Cowboy Dan, Trailer Trash, Trucker's Atlas, Styrofoam Boots (It's All Nice on Ice)
What's great about it: Powerful guitars, moving lyrics, and unforgettable songs
"The Big Dirty" by Every Time I Die is just simply amazing. From the minute you start listening, the explosive "No Son Of Mine" will drag you in and the supercharged "Imitation Is The Sincerest Form Of Battery" will lead you out feeling as if any hardcore you have ever heard prior to this album will ever be as good as what you have just listened to. I recommend this to anyone who loved "Hot D*mn!" (being a fan myself), or just anyone who loves hardcore music in general. Trust me when I say this album is worth the buy. Best Tracks: "No Son of Mine", "Pigs is Pigs", "INRIhab" (Alexisonfire is featured in this track), "Buffalo Gals", and "Imitation Is The Sincerest Form Of Battery"
What's great about it: They haven't lost their style, like most bands do as they progress
What's not so great: Listen to the album more than once before you judge it
