Great if you have a 4K TV and are a Casual Gamer

This console is great for me, but I'm far from a hardcore gamer. The XBOX is in my home for movies and apps first; gaming second. I sold the XBOX Elite to get the S solely for 4K features. The Samsung 4K player retails for the same price. If I wasn't putting a 4K system together for movies/media, I would've stayed with the XBOX Elite especially since this doesn't provide native 4K gaming. I actually miss the speed of the Elite's SSD opposed to the XBOX One S HDD. Some say they can't tell the difference, but I could tell the difference the second I put 2K16 in to do that long initial download and tried to switch to Pandora. The lag was beyond noticeable. Dropping a SSD in these things would've been great. There's no other material differences from the previous model to mention.

Good but not great...

I rarely, ever write reviews but this item I find myself using a lot more than I imagined so I decided to chime in with my opinion. The reviews were helpful for me when decided what to try. First and foremost, these ARE NOT noise cancellation headphones which is the reason why I purchased them. I'm a Chicago commuter and I prefer to be well aware of my surroundings at all times while on the train and walking. I've read a lot of people complain about still being able to hear things, but these were designed for you to hear. The volume is adequate, but not blaring. At first I felt that the volume was too low, but realized if they were any louder I wouldn't be able to hear anything around me which is most important to me. I can turn them up to the point of not being able to hear well, and still have a couple of more levels to go from that point. However, I can't turn these up to the point where it's just too loud for me. I'm satisfied with the bass levels and quality of sound. I've never been a fan of Beats overcompensating bass and always preferred Bowers and Wilkins and Bose products because of that.
The headphones are bulkier than I prefer and the volume/phone control seems very stiff which leads to the actions being unresponsive at times. After using Apple's standard earbud controls and Bowers and Wilkins headphone controls, these are a considerable downgrade. I feel myself pressing somewhat hard on the buttons for them to work.
The earbuds are comfortable (very minor irritation after listening for over three hours) and I haven't had any issues with the headphones falling out. I use the mid-size earbuds. They are slightly larger than I want, but the real small ones are too small for me. That's a problem you'll have with all earbuds though. Either they fit you perfect or you have to adjust to the fit.
I use extremely cheap headsets to workout and due yard work with so sweat exposure has been somewhat minimal. Nevertheless, I haven't had any moisture issues. I walk two or three miles a day with them depending on the weather, but I'm not sweating anywhere near as much as I do when I workout or doing yard work.
Overall, not a bad model but there is room for improvement. I'm happy with this purchase and I hope this helps someone on the fence with regards to purchasing this product.

Are there any other means to charge these earphones than the advertised charging case?

The earphones come with a micro-usb cable. You can plug it into any USB charger to charge up the earphones.
