As someone has already stated "there is nothing like a GD concert" and these shows from the Winterland are perfect examples of why. The Wall of Sound system of the yr. 1974 had a unique and very different sound than sound systems before and after. As the movie shows the crew assembling the"Wall of Sound" and Phil tuning up with thunderous bass lines the sound of the band was so clear and lead and rythm can also be distinctively heard. Some of the jams and versions of Morning Dew, Sugar Magnolia, GDTR are some of the best I've ever heard, especially coming through the wall of sound. Includes additional music from the movie from one of the best runs of shows the band ever played, this soundtrack sounds amazingly clear for a live recording from 33yrs. ago. Thanks for releasing such a gem of live music.
What's great about it: GD at one of the apexes of their trip
What's not so great: Wish they had film footage for the whole soundtrack
