An epic, re-creation of a classic
on November 2, 2008
Posted by: TFABOLOUS
The Dark Knight was mega-hyped to be the best movie ever created, and, believe it or not, it proves correct. I seen this movie with expectations of mediocrity and a tired old story, however, I could not have been more wrong.
I love Christian Bale's acting. I was under the impression that he would outshine the movie itself. Again, I was wrong. He dons the Batman mask with the utmost conviction, however, it was Heath Ledger's role as the Joker that truly steals the show.
The Dark Knight is a re-creation of a classic, and a must see.
What's great about it: Heath Ledger, epic story
What's not so great: none

Love it or hate it (and let's face it, most hated it), this film is a marvel of set design and art direction, and that is well represented on this special edition DVD. The 1.85:1 anamorphic image is simply stunning. (As is common now, a full-frame version is available separately.) Colors, a vital element of the film, are presented with an amazing flourish, perfectly capturing the theatrical appearance. There are no signs of grain or print scratches, as would be expected. Nearly as impressive is the 5.1 Dolby Digital track. The sound mix is very exciting, with wide use of the surrounds for effect, but the main audio source is never drowned out up front. Dialogue is clear (this could be a good or bad thing, depending on your view) and without any distortion. It wouldn't be surprising to see a two-disc re-release happen down the line, but this title still throws in a number of first-rate supplements. While the menus are annoying, they will take you to numerous sections, mainly comprised of 12 short (under three minutes each) featurettes. Those with short attention spans will appreciate these pieces, all with interviews from director Bo Welch, star Mike Myers, and other cast members. Segments include the cat makeup, the music, the creation of the Theodore Seuss Geisel stamp, the vehicles, various visual effects, and more. In addition, and designed to appeal to the very young, is a segment on how to dance like the cat. Slightly more promising, though not the best ever produced, is an audio commentary track from Welch and Alec Baldwin. The two seem to enjoy recording this track, and their time making the movie. Infinitely more amusing than the film is a lengthy bloopers segment. Finally, a number of deleted scenes are offered, as well as the trailers for Shrek 2 and Peter Pan. Overall, this is a fine disc, from the exceptional picture and sound to a wide array of extras. Now, if only the film was as good.

Not For Kids

I had high expectations for this film, but was sorely disappointed. The reason for such a poor rating (1 out of 5 stars) is due to the overwhelming, constant, adult content.
The market demographic for this film was child through adult; the perfect film to watch with the family. However, the poor attempts to create The Cat and the Hat into a family film were obvious early in. The adult situations and innuendos were most frequent, which made me cringe.
I would strongly recommend parents to guard their children from seeing this movie. This movie is a disgrace to the family film genre.
What's not so great: constant adult situations / innuendos

Barry B. Benson (voice of Jerry Seinfeld) is your average honeybee. Despite having recently received his diploma from bee college and being virtually guaranteed a bright future in honey, Barry feels he has the skills to pursue a number of different career paths and resents the fact that his employment opportunities are strictly limited to producing the sweet nectar. Upon breaking away from the hive and developing a friendship with an insect-loving New York florist (voice of Renée Zellweger), Barry makes the shocking discovery that human beings eat honey in mass quantities. Having finally found his calling in life, the infuriated Barry decides to sue the human race for stealing all of the honey that his fellow bees work so hard to produce.

Bee movie gets a "B"
on October 27, 2008

I have recently became a fan of the Seinfeld tv series. I love Jerry Seinfeld's sense of humor. Bee Movie delivers some of this humor that we know and love. The plot is weak, but that is the case for most animated movies these days. The visuals and sound are great quality. The voices fit the characters well; I especially like Patrick Warburton, also the voice of Joe on Family Guy tv series.
If you have kids you should definitely see this movie, if not, it may still be worth your while.
What's great about it: Jerry Seinfeld humor, excellent picture and sound
What's not so great: story is a bit weak, children will most likely not mind at all

Unforgettable

Today, I just watched Saw WS Uncut, again, and it was just as intense as the first time I seen it. Saw is great from start to finish. I enjoy the plot, cinematography, acting, etc.
The plot develops in a rather unique way. Its hard to explain without giving away too much info.
The use of superb cinematography adds to the never-ending suspense.
The cast of mostly unknowns delivers performances they can be proud of. Tobin Bell's voice is eerie. I get the chills thinking about it.
Recommended for horror fans.

Three 6 Mafiaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!
on October 24, 2008

Three 6 Mafia delivers another hit album. Many great songs are on this cd, including: My Own Way (remix), Click Bang, I Got, etc.
As I have already mentioned, Three 6 Mafia showcases their unique talents on this cd. Moreover, I recently seen them in concert and they were just as good, if not better.
If you have not heard of Three 6 Mafia before, then you need to get out more. And while your out go purchase Three 6 Mafia:Last 2 Walk.
What's great about it: Excellent songs. The cd is still spinning in my car.

Masanori Hata's children's animal film The Adventures of Milo & Otis comes to DVD with a pair of transfers. The widescreen anamorphic transfer preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1, and is preferable in every way to the standard full-frame image. An English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Surround, while a Spanish soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital Mono. English, Spanish, and French subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a making-of featurette, trailers, and production notes. This is a fine family friendly release from Columbia/TriStar.

I love animals
on October 22, 2008

Milo & Ottis is a wonderful movie; it teaches good morales and values. Milo and Ottis, a cat and dog, are different animal species, however, they share a loving friendship for one another. The movie follows the journey of these two animals, from the barn and beyond.
My son's favorite scene is when Milo and Ottis play hide and seek on the farm.
This is a perfect movie to watch with the family. Animal lovers will also enjoy this movie.
What's great about it: Good morales and values

Not as good as Iron Man
on October 20, 2008
Posted by: TFABOLOUS
I enjoyed this movie, The Incredible Hulk. However, Hulk is not as good as the new Iron Man movie. The plot, although quiet interesting, was incredibly slow.
If you are a fan of marvel comics or superheroes in general, then get this movie. But if you are on a budget and must decide between Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk, I say, buy Iron Man.
What's great about it: Edward Noton, Hulk
What's not so great: The plot is good, but a little slow
