I'm not sure if it's better than the other typepad covers as this is the only one I have used, but I LOVE it. The keys are well spaced, back lit and have a great feel. The track pad is exceptionally responsive and I think the grey color is super cool! It was a toss up between the one with fingerprint ID or this one, but since Windows already has face recognition, and my salesperson suggested this was great, I went with this. I can't know what I'm missing with the fingerprint ID, but I'd say if you like the look and feel of the Alcantara, then go for it!

I read and read the reviews and just decided to buy it and have been overjoyed since. The staff at Best Buy were the best! They even helped me set up. I worried it might be difficult to use on my lap but have found it feels like any other laptop. I truly contemplated just buying a traditional laptop because I couldn't see the benefit of the tablet features since I already own an Ipad, but boy was I wrong! I cannot imagine using a conventional laptop now! If you're on the fence, just do it!! You won't be disappointed. Oh and I bought the new Alcantara type cover and it feels great. Typing is better than on my prior laptop and track pad is very responsive. I bought a mouse on my friends insistence that I'd definitely need it, but haven't even had to take it out of the package yet! Also, some reviews were complaining about the battery... I have found no issues there. The complaints said that it drains while in sleep mode and that is not the case here. It remains exactly where I left it when I turn it on after a period of "sleep"
