Easily Considered Greatest Hip-Hop Album ever
on November 19, 2007

Part of the reason for Illmatic's acclaim was the discerning treatment of its subject matter: gang rivalries, desolation, and the ravages of urban poverty. Nas, who was nineteen years old when the album was recorded, realistically depicts the darker side of urbanity, creating highly detailed first person narratives that deconstruct the troubling lives of inner city teenagers.
10/10 Only a couple of other albums can be mentioned in the same paragraph, with Illmatic as far as, Lyricism, Production, Subject Matter, and Significance
What's great about it: Everything
What's not so great: Nothing

Very fun to play with friends...
Storyline can get dead boring, but if your a Hardcore Halo Head, that shouldn't matter, and you won't even notice the occasional dullness in the plot...
What's great about it: You can play for hours, on Xbox Live
What's not so great: Storyline gets boring after a little while

By 03, it seemed HOV had accomplished all their was to accomplish in music. So he retired, and released the classic, The Black Album..In 06 he returned with the fluffy Kingdom Come, but in late-07 he restored all of his hard earned acclaim, by dropping American Gangster
The Black has classic such as,
December 4th
What More Can I Say
Encore
Dirt off Your Shoulders
Threats
Moment of Clarity
99 Problems
My 1st Song
yup 9 out of 14 of these songs are CLASSICS
What's great about it: Hov goes out with a bang
What's not so great: One Filler-Change Clothes

Outstanding Companion Piece to illmatic
on November 17, 2007

from My Yacht, Malibu
In 1994, a young Brooklyn MC, named AZ, was featured on a young and talented NaS, classic album named Illmatic. AZ spit the opening verse on a track, named Life A B!tch, this song was seen as a classic, and introduced AZ as the "King" of the New York Hip-Hop underground scene...
the next year Nas, returned the favor by rapping on Gimmie Yours, a lead single on AZ's debut album, Doe or Die.
Doe or Die is often seen as an extroidanary companion piece to illmatic. It is also heralded as a classic mid-90's dirty, Mafioso scene with albums such as, The Infamous, It Was Written, and Only Built for Cuban Linx...
Look forward to hearing Nas' classic verse on Gimmie Yours
What's great about it: One of the best Mafiaoso Hip-Hop albums of the mid-90's
What's not so great: Not for the CURRENT mainstream Hip-Hip audience

Lyricism- 9/10
He's bringing us back as far as lyricism, to a NEAR- Reasonable Doubt, type of flow
Production- 10/10
WOW, this is hands down the best produced Hip-Hop album since The Blueprint, in 2001
Subject Matter- 9/10
What did you expect, he's taking you back to the most honest time in his life...
What's great about it: Production, Subject Matter, Flow
What's not so great: On a few lines, his delivery was slow, but still made it up
